Rating: Summary: Thoroughly enjoyable Review: " 'Hi!' It croaked, lifting its right front leg and waving to her." Jennifer Murdley's Toad starts when Jennifer Murdley buys an unusually large toad, from Mr. Elive's Magic Shop, that talks. Her toad, Bufo, gets her into a lot of trouble, like when he kisses Sharra and changes her into a toad. Bufo's evil witch mother, that wants Bufo for the jewel in his forehead, makes Jennifer's brother's, Brandon, plastic phone rings occasionally. One day, when Brandon is a toad, he gets stolen by the evil witch while Sharra is watching him. Jennifer trades Bufo for Brandon in the evil witch's parlor. Then Bufo kisses Jennifer several times until she is the size of a Volkswagen. Jennifer takes the witch in her mouth, holding her captive. She "throws" out her tongue, breaking all the mirrors and walls, and finds herself standing in Bufo's birthplace, a cottage in the woods. The witch remained unconscious in the cottage. Mr. Elives tells her to go home, even though she is a two thousand-pound toad. Mrs. Applegate, a woman that works in the Folk Museum, kisses Jennifer. Mrs. Applegate turns out to be Esmerelda, a toad Bufo had fallen in love with. Jennifer had thought of herself as rather ugly on the outside. On the inside, she was quite beautiful. While Jennifer has the witch in her mouth, the witch offers her the chance to be beautiful on the outside. But what if it made her ugly on the inside? "Like a geode," she thought. "But if you turn it inside out, it's beautiful on the outside and ugly on the inside." You don't have to be beautiful on the inside and on the outside. Through this book Bruce Coville is trying to say: you can have a perfectly happy life being ugly on the outside, as long as you're beautiful on the inside. I fully enjoyed Jennifer Murdley's Toad. Coville makes the characters come to life. He also thoroughly and vividly describes the characters and settings so well that you can picture them while you read. They match the pictures draw! n by the illustrator. I thought Coville did an excellent job writing this book. This book could be read by any level, though readers between 8 and 12 would enjoy it the most. The book is at an intermediate level, so even advanced 7 year olds could read it. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone over 14. They could get bored, for it would be too easy. Anyone who wanted to read Jennifer Murdley's Toad would have too like fiction.
Rating: Summary: this book was great! Review: "My favorite character is Bufo, because he is funny, and does great imitations. You can even feel yourself being pulled into the story! In Jennifer Murdley's toad, feel the suspense, the humor, and the magic. I loved this book, and I think you will too."
Rating: Summary: A okay book Review: I can't say it was his best work because INTO THE LAND OF THE UNICORNS was his best work in my opinion. It was good as a MAGIC SHOP BOOK but nothing else. I would recommend it.
Rating: Summary: I liked Jennifer Murdley's Toad a lot. Review: I liked the book because I liked the talking toad named Bufo. I liked Jennifer because she was like a geode. I really liked all of the characters, like Mr. Elives, Bufo, Esmerelda, Jennifer, Sharra, Ellen, Jerome, and Roxanne. It was a good story.
Rating: Summary: Great! A must for any avid young reader Review: I LOVED this book! It is now one of my favorites. Bruce Coville weaves the tale in such a way you sit spellbound unable to wrench yourself from the covers. I really think you should read this, if not buy it.

Rating: Summary: A very good book Review: Jennifer Murdley isn't a pretty girl. Jennifer gets picked on a lot by her looks in school. But, when Jennifer gets Bufo from a magic shop, things change. Bufo has the gift of speech (and not the gift of silence!). Bufo can mimic voices and noises with ease. Soon, Jennifer saves her little brother from an evil witch that wants Bufo. Not as good as some of the other books in the Magic Shop series.
