Rating: Summary: Almost as bad as 'Woman Who Rides Like A Man' Review: This book was terrible! Allana has completly transformed from the tough knight she was in the first two books. I know she was supposed to have changed, and in the book everyone said it was for the better, but I thought her transformation was for the MUCH MUCH worse.Another thing that really bothered me about this book is that it seemed that she completly forgot about George. It was like she said to the Dragon guy, "I've only know you for two days, but my boyfriend's across the country, so I'm going to sleep with you instead." Give me a break! Is she now sleeping with every other guy she comes across! Also, it seemed like she was crying every other page. I know SOME [really dumb] people might think that this was considered getting in touch with her FEMMININE side. Not really. Basicly the message was "women can't be tough". I really think that is a bunch of garbage (I'd use a stronger word, but amazon probably wouldn't allow it). Overall, I really hated this book.
Rating: Summary: 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 STARS! Review: I laughed I cried I cound not put this book down! Tamora Pierce has written one of the best books ever written. You will fall in love with some of the characters and belive in the ability to have magic inside of you.you will cry with joy and sadness when you read this final book from the Song of the Lionness.I recomend this book to anyone who belives there realy is life beyond reality.
Rating: Summary: Alanna Rules! Review: The Song of the Lioness books were the BEST! Alanna is just the sort of character you'd want her to be. As for the sleeping-with-everyone part, well, it annoyed me for a while. This is the best series by Ms. Pierce EVER! They left me enchanted for months and dying for more. Unlike "First Test", Alanna has bigger problems than being the only girl (even though she is). Alanna positively rules! I didn't mind her marrying George although it was a little hard because I'd imagined George to be, like, 40. But really, I couldn't find anything wrong with this fabulous quartet!
Rating: Summary: Good series for young readers Review: I finished the series on a plane from Florida. I was enchanted while I read, entranced even for a while after. But when the spell wore off, I realized that while the plot is good, the characters are flat and underdeveloped, and the stories are without any deeper significance. It's a good, light, superficial read but will not really leave any impressions on the soul. In Tortall, things float in and out without leaving traces (like some of Alanna's thief friends, Gary, and Raoul), and some of the things that are most important in the first novels (the Ordeal) don't really matter in the others. Alanna really doesn't think too much about the Ordeal after it's over. The series is good, but not great. Fine for younger readers, OK for older ones too, but make sure that there are REAL fantasy stories available too. I recommend it but will also say that Sabriel (Garth Nix) is much better and is fully rounded, with a four-dimensional world like our own.
Rating: Summary: I loved it! Except for one thing... Review: Okay, this is a wonderful conclusion to an incredible series. Roger is the perfect villain - he has some human qualities. He has good things abut him - likable, suave, charming, as well as being evil. I loved the thing between Myles and Eleni Cooper, and that the Ralon of Malven end was tied up. Brilliant! Okay, here's the one thing - Alanna and Jon belong together! In the original draft of the book, Alanna and Jon did marry, but then TP changed it, though God knows why. Anyway, what about the fact that Thayet wanted to be a commoner and start a school? what about the fact that Alanna and George's parent's are getting together? What about the fact that the Woman Who Rides Like a Man and the Voice of the Tribes getting together would bring lots of attention to the tribe that has female shamans? What about the fact that nobody, but nobody, would be able to stop Kel from being a knight if Alanna were queen? I could go on. For all you Little Women fans out there, I could cite Jo and Laurie...
Rating: Summary: This is the BEST Review: THis book was awesome! I loved the way it closed off the sieres with a final bow. I loved the way Tamora Pierce made it exciting, a real lady knoight ready for combat at all times. WOW any one who thinks this book was not 5 stars should reread it to think about your mistake. This book is a real work of art so RETHINK your mistake!
Rating: Summary: A wonderful tie-in Review: I absolutely loved this book. It had lots of advernture and excitement, but more, in this book all of Alanna's escapades and doings cumulated. You can see how so many things from past books all came together in this one and if things hadn't previously happened just so, things would have turned out very differently. For instance, if she hadn't fused Duke Roger's sword with Lightning in The Woman Who Rides Like A Man, she wouldn't have been able to hold the sword when Roger called it to him, but if she had just had lightning he wouldn't have been able to call it to him at all, and she wouldn't have been able to kill him. Look at it again and you'll see how perfecly everything fits together!
Rating: Summary: too many relationships Review: I did not like this book a lot. It was well written like all of Tamora Pierce's other books, but Alanna slept with just too many people. I mean, you want to scream at her, just pick someone, and thats it! I know that it is very symbolic, but it was hard for me to get why she was doing that. At some points, Tamora gets just plain trashy or corny. Other than that though, I liked that she finally settled down....
Rating: Summary: Alanna Rules! Review: This book is definately one of my favourites out of Ms. Pierce's books, and seems even better after rereading the disappointing "Circle". What I like about it is the wonderful characters, and how realistic it is. Anyway, to all of you who like to express your feelings about Alanna's choice of spouse (and/or bedmates) I think Alanna was right to go to George. After all, Jon was in love with someone else, and wasn't right for her.
Rating: Summary: This book is a GREAT finale! Review: Ok, I have one thing to say to all you people out there. So what if she didn't marry Jon. The guy was a stuck up, snotty prig, just like all the other men in this world. George was always WAY cooler! I mean the guy was a thief, how cool can you get? So just get over the fact that she likes the thief better than Jon. I mean you could totally see that coming!
