Summary: Good, but not as good as Jurassic Park.
Review: This book was twice as long as Jurassic Park. About half of it could have been edited out, there was that much filler in it. Many parts were excellent but they were infused with often tedious detail that detracted from the action. The first half of the book tended to drag on for a bit. The second half was much, much better. Still, all in all, a good read.

Summary: Near perfect sequel for Jurassic Park
Review: Michael Crichton throughout his writings has brought together a wealth of knowledge and understanding to the technology that his characters use. This is one thing that has always kept me coming back to his work. The Lost World is no exception. It starts off a bit slow but once the action picks up, it doesn't quit until the end. It will be a book you'll want to read again as soon as you get the chance. If you like any of Michael Crichton's work, then you will definitely want to have a look at this.

Summary: The best sequel to a book ever.
Review: If you thought that Jurassic Park was cool you'll love the sequel The Lost World. This one digs deeper into the company than the first one did and answers a lot of questions I had over the first one. A great storyline, charadters, and setting make for a heck of a thrill ride.

Summary: Michael Crichton
Review: When I read words from Michael Crichton, I can visualize them all. I imagine visually the entire story. His stories are technical and flowing. This book is highly recommended. I won't bother to tell you about the book because you should read without knowing to make it more exciting. This book is for techincal thinkers who can visualize.

Summary: a disappointment
Review: I expected this to be just as good as Jurassic park but boy was I in for a surprise. This book is shameful compared to Jurassic Park. I found this book to be uninteresting and a little weird. One of the first problems is that ian Malcom died! I found his miraculous recovery very hard to swallow. I also think it would have been better if the dinosaurs somehow survived on the original island. Also, why did he change the chaos theory to the 'complexity' thoery! I didn't have a big problem with that I just found it kind of weird. The ending was also pretty bad too with the disease and all. I found it very anticlimatic. I also so think that they should have included another character from Jurassic Park along with Dr. Malcom. And, in Jurassic Park the T-REx couldn't see you if you stood still but in Lost World that suddenly changes! I did like the new dinosaurs that were added and of course I thought Crichton's illustrations were interesting. Overall it's not that bad of a book but it can't compare to Jurassic Park.

Summary: I don't think Mike Crichton wrote this book.
Review: After reading Jurassic Park,I became interested in other works by Michael. I read his earlier works and I was pleased to read them all.I guess I became too excited because I couldn't wait until The Lost World came out. After I purchased the book, I opened it up to the first page, and I could not beleive what I was reading. Ian Malcolm.....a little..... what?I think I read that sentence a million times hoping that it would change or maybe I read it wrong the first 999,999 times.I forced myself to read the entire book.It really isn't a bad book. I feel this book was rushed. After the tremendous success of Jurassic, the pressure was on to write a sequel. After reading his previous novels, his style of writing wasn't present in The Lost World. It was like someone else wrote this book.

Summary: Buy it and read it now!!
Review: This is one of the best books I have ever read, better than Jurrasic Park. The best bit for me was Darwins thoery of evolution explained and the character Levine. If you like dinosours and Jurrasic Park then you will love this it is ten times better.

Summary: "Lost" World
Review: Okay, even when ignoring the fact that Ian Malcolm is alive the second time around, one is hard pressed to find anything truly "good" about this sequel. With a mediocre plot ("let's go find us some dinosaurs and let 'em loose in California! Maybe they'll eat Disneyland!) and almost no character development, it makes me wonder just how many dollar signs it takes to forget how to write a decent story.

Summary: A Worthy Sequel
Review: This book is the rarest of all things in the entire world: a good sequel. Sure, it was probably written to cash in on JP's success (and not to mention, of course, the movie's), but it is a very good book nonetheless. Perhaps not quite as good as the first, but then again, what is? As one reviewer mentioned, Malcolm's revival was overwrought, but other than that this is an awesome book of suspense and thrills, with Crichton's ever-present scientific detail still intact.

Also, like the first book (apart from the opening), this is very different from (and better than) the movie. Read it.

Summary: Typical Sequel
Review: I was less than enthusiastic about reading the Lost World. I probably should have been more optimistic, but this was the sequel to JURASSIC PARK. In the Lost World, Ian Malcolm (the scientist who DIED in Jurassic Park) is actually not dead and quite healthy, though with a bad leg. He has to go back to the hell of dinosaurs he left long ago, only this time he's going with a different group of people. Don't worry, a typical young female scientist and two annyoing kids go along with him. I thought this book was basically the same as Jurassic Park, only much worse. The book wasn't incredibally bad, but it didn't have the same flare for me as Jurassic Park. But even with this semi-pathetic book, Michael Crichton did keep it fairly entertaining, at least, I didn't want to stop in mid-book. But in this "version" of Jurassic Park, the book's focused more on "interesting" gadgets and this pack of villains, including Henry Dodgsen, and they're are so stupid it's almost like watching/reading about villians from a cartoon show. Bottom Line: I wouldn't read Jurassic Park before the Lost World.
