Rating: Summary: One of the greatest books ever . Review: The book The Indian In The cupboard, By Lynne Reid Banks was rated "The Best Novel Of The Year". This is one of the most inspiring and adventurous books I have ever read. I read this book two times. The Indian In The Cupboard was printed in the U.S.A. This book is a magical fiction genre all-in-one. This book is about a boy that gets a cupboard and a key and a plastic Indian for his birthday. This nine year old boy is Omri. As the book gets more intense the reader finds out that he's involved in a magical adventure when the Indian comes to life. The author is Lynne Reid Banks. She was born in the year 1929, and was also the daughter of a Scottish doctor and an Irish actress. I recommend this book to everybody, including adults. To summarize the book, a plastic Indian comes to life by a key, a cupboard and an Indian that's named Little Bear and at the the end the Indian ??????. You will have to read the book. I like the way the author would finish one page and at the end of it she would leave a half interesting sentence continuing on the next page.
Rating: Summary: Great Children's Book Review: This book has got to be the greatest children's book I have ever read. When I was a young boy we read this book in third grade, I loved it so much that I took it out of the library and read ahead of the rest of the class. I also bought and read both of the sequals, and cried at the end of Secret of the Indian because I knew it was the last one. I recomend these books to anyone, even children who lack imagination because this will bring it out of them. When I read the series I wanted to be Omri, the main character, so bad that I used to pretend my GI JOE figures were alive because I didn't have any little indian characters. This book captures a childs imagination and enhances it. Read it with your kids, it might capture yours too. I'm now a sophomore in college and I still consider it one of the best books I've ever read because it got me interested in reading. It will do the same for your children too.
Rating: Summary: My all-time favorite, required reading for kids Review: At 19 years old and a sophmore in college, I'd still have to say that this is my favorite childhood book. I read it at least once a year , and continue to enjoy how Banks treats childrens feelings, lives and decisions with respect and dignity. On the surface a magical story, but read more deeply, an inspiring and accurate account of an episode I'm sure most everyone can remember- the day you realized you were growing up. You gotta try this book!
Rating: Summary: This is an excellent book!!! Review: This is an excellent book about a boy named Omri finding a magic key that he can turn plastic creatures into real people. It is very well written and has a good plot. It is one of the best books I have ever read. I also recommend the sequel The return of the indian.
Rating: Summary: A great book for all times Review: I really liked this book and will for years to come. It is well written, with an interesting plot. It is not boring, and it will capture your attention from the front page to the last page. You will also want to read the sequels. I recommend buying this book.
Rating: Summary: An extraordinary book for the youth Review: I have read the book about five times and I just love it. The movie is nothing like the book and the book is much better.
Rating: Summary: Excellent bedtime book Review: I read this to my 4&7 year olds and they loved it. Last book drags a bit more than the others as it takes over half the book to start the magic whereas first book was in chapter one. Still a very excellent series.
Rating: Summary: this book is the best book of the 90's Review: This was a great book and I hope it stays popular among all ages for years to come.
