Summary: A great book to read to children, and one for them to read.
Review: My classroom children and I enjoyed reading the story as a read- aloud. Some of them have asked to read the book by themselves. We can't wait for the next book. We hope we can get it read before school gets out. We do a Medieval unit, and this will be a great book to read while we a are doing the unit next year.

Summary: Thoroughly entertaining
Review: My closest friend read this book to his 6 year old son when the frenzy began. Ever since he had been begging me to buy it and read it. I recently began a job an hour's drive away from my home and decided to get the book on tape to ease the long drive.

I was pleasantly surprised as I began to look forward to my drive time so I could continue with Harry's adventures. The story is engrossing with it's attention to detail. The reader infuses the story with modulated tones and an interesting vocal quality.

I have so enjoyed these tapes that I went straight out and bought the "The Chamber of Secrets".

Review: My cousin reads these books and has a big picture on her wall of him. I paged through one book and forgot which one it was. These books are good, since they are encouraging children to read and use their minds instead of them watching Nickelodeon and other TV garbage and rotting their brains until they turn to mush. But, aren't these books a bit overhyped?

Summary: Brilliant Book!
Review: My dad read it to me and I hated it. A few months later it was getting so popular I decided to give it another try. This time I read it myself. It was fantastic. It is a great book and really risky challenges. There's the horrible home of the Dursley's with their spoilt son Dudley. Imagine living under the stairs in a cupboard! An imaginary tale, its the first book of a series. Its about a young wizard who joins Hogwarts, a school of witchcraft and wizardry. Harry Potter gets choosen to be the Seeker in the Quiditch game. The story ends with a horrid shock for Harry Potter.

Summary: Great read for all ages!
Review: My daughter (11) received the first Harry Potter book "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" for Christmas in 1998. On our travel the next year she read the book 19 (nineteen!!) times. She got completely hooked! All I heard was Harry Potter this and Harry Potter that... At the end I was fed up, wondering what all this fuzz was about and I decided to read the book myself.

To my surprise I really enjoyed the book. The book put you in this wonderful imaginary world, filled with suspense and mystery. In Harry Potters' world we meet a constant battle between the good and the evil. There are not too many characters that could confuse children, and there are some very interesting twists in JK Rawlings' novel. This book was a pleasant escape from reality and a very enjoyable read.

Highly recommended!!

Summary: well written, highly entertaining for kids and adults
Review: My daughter is a gifted child who reads books way above her third grade level. Unfortunately, she is not interested in the normal subjects of teen books (boys, divorce, peer pressure, etc). She and I thoroughly enjoyed reading the first Harry Potter book. I read it with her to make sure there wasn't anything "inappropriate" for her age. There wasn't. The book held her (and my own) attention from the very beginning to absolute last word in the book. We are both looking forward to the second book. Which, by the way, Santa will be bringing!

Review: My daughter liked the book SSSSOOOO much!!!!She even wishes the book was as long as the second!!Even longer! She felt kind of sad when she finished, because the story was over and she had to wait about a month to get the second. These books are just so good, we can't believe it. Joanne started out as an author no one's heard of, and look at her now!

Summary: Fun, fun, fun!!!
Review: My daughter read this book about a year and a half before I did and loved it. I didn't think that I could really enjoy a children's book, though, and especially not one about pure fantasy. I was wrong! After one of my students did a book report on it, I decided to give it a shot. All I can say is -- incredible! Ms. Rowling has an amazing imagination and she knows how to make her characters come to life. This is fantasy that almost seems real. This is a book for everyone -- a refreshing break from the harsh reality of today's world.

Summary: an enjoyable family read-aloud!
Review: My daughters (11 and 13) and I read aloud to each other each evening. We just finished HP and the Sorcerer's Stone, and we thoroughly enjoyed it! I loved hearing the girls laugh out loud throughout the novel. The characters were wonderfully rendered, each with his or her own peculiarities. The dialogue was well done, too. This was a wonderful novel to share as a family, and we look forward to starting the Chamber of Secrets tonight.
