Summary: An eight year-old loves this book!
Review: I read the book called "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" by J.K.Rowling. The Dursley's, of number four Privet Drive, were perfectly normal people. They had a terrible son named Dudley. Then Professor McGonagall, Albus Dumbledore and Hagrid came. Hagrid was the last to come. Hagrid brought Harry Potter in a blanket. Harry was a wizard but he didn't know it until he got a letter inviting him to a Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. There he learned to play Quidditch.

The rules of Quidditch are: You play on a broomstick with four balls. There are 7 players on a team. Three of the players are chasers who play with the Quaffle. They pass the ball around and try to throw the Quaffle in one of the 6 hoops. The Keeper guards the goal posts. The second and third balls are bludgers. They fly around and knock people off their brooms. The 2 beaters fly around and hit the bludgers to the other team. The last ball is a small golden ball called the snitch. The seeker tries to catch the snitch before the other team's seeker. Whichever team's seeker catches the snitch earns his team 150 points. And that's how to play Quidditch.

The four houses at Hogwarts are: Gryffindor, Hufflepuffs, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. The third-floor corridor on the right-hand side is out of bounds to everyone who does not wish to die a very painful death, because behind the door is a three-headed monster dog called Fluffy.

My favorite part of the book is when Harry gets the letter inviting him to Hogwarts. The letter said to get on Platform nine and three quarters, but no one could find the Platform. See if you can find out how!

The part I liked the least was when Gryffindor lost 150 points. Losing the points was bad because he might lose the house cup at the end of the year.

I recommend Harry Potter as an excellent book. I encourage kids to read Harry Potter. I hope you will find these books exciting. I hope I will be able to read the whole volume of Harry Potter books. The next Harry Potter book I would like to read is: "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets."

Summary: The Best Book Ever
Review: I read the book Harry Potter and The Sorcers Stone. This book was awesome. It was the best book I have ever read in my life. The book had great detail and really, really cool characters. The authror J.K. Renolds made the book so clear and exciting. When I was reading the book, I felt like I was really in the book for real life. The book was a great fantasy. There were kids riding on broom sticks and wearing invisible coats. This book deserves five stars for its fantasy, its detail and lots of other stuff. It only took me five days to finish it. I read seventy pages a day. I could not stop reading. I really loved this book. Now I am reading the second Harry Potter book, and it is going really really well. If you want to read a book that is the best for anyone, you should get Harry Potter and The Sorcers Stone or any of the other Harry Potter books in the store. This is truely the best book ever

Summary: A funny and fantastic boy about a wizard.
Review: I read the book is Harry Potter and the philosopher¡¦s Stone. It is written by J. K. Rowling. The book cover is quite funny. The background is a castle and there is a three head snake inside. The time is evening. In the middle have a boy flying on a broomstick and have a red cape that who wear it can disappear. He is wearing glasses. I think the book is about a boy who is a wizard and have some relationship about the ¡¥three head snake¡¦.
It is a fantasy story. Harry potter is a famous wizard by he apparent defeat the vol-deh-more. And his parents were killed by it. And so he lives with his aunt home, but their family always cruel to Harry. After ten years Harry receive a mysterious letter. And a men call Hag rid tell him about his past and take him to Hog warts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Voldemort is the evil wizard and it is very powerful that every wizard feared him and he is so evil because he killed Muggles. His name was so feared in the wizard world and no one to speak his name, and only say as ¡¥You-Know ¡VWho¡¦. Except Professor Dumbledore. This book is talk about the battle good and evil, and every single evil person in the book has a background with Voldemort.
I like book because it is quite funny and fantastic. It is funny because the word is not very difficult and the description of the characters is quite clear and it is not boring. There have a lot of dialog and the plot compact. It is fantastic that the author have lots of imagination and merge with the traditional of English school to make the story.
I think it is a book that suitable for each age people. If you haven¡¦t seen this book then you should go to buy this book as quick as possible

Summary: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Review: I read the book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling. This book is a fantasy type of book, which includes wizards, witches, and magical charm.
10-year-old Harry Potter lived with the Dursleys, his only relative, for his whole life. They hated Harry because they thought he was abnormal. Harry didn't live with his parents because he was told that they died in a car crash. Harry had a mysterious scar on his forehead shaped like a lightning bolt. One day in July, on Harry's 11th birthday, a Giant named Rubeus Hagrid came with a letter. He told Harry that Harry was a wizard and the scar wasn't just an ordinary scar. The letter was about Harry, accepted to go to a wizarding school, Hogwarts, where young wizards and witches learn spells and charms. Harry decided to go. So they decided to go to Diagon Alley for his supplies. While shopping, Hagrid told Harry how he got the scar and what really killed Harry's parents. The truth was, a dark wizard killed Harry's parents, but he couldn't kill Harry for some reason so while he tried to kill him, he gave Harry a scar and vanished. Harry had to take the Hogwarts Express to go to Hogwarts. On the way, Harry met Ron Weasley who became Harry's best friend, and Hermione Granger, who everyone thinks is a "know-it-all." I think she's smart and kind Harry finds secrets in Hogwarts that leads to adventure and trouble! Some secrets depended on his life!
J.K. Rowling uses creative words that can keep me reading the book. I like to learn wizard words like "Muggles." I also like wizard snacks, for example, "Chocolate Frogs" and "Bertie Botts Every Flavored Beans". This is really a different then other books because it is magical and full of adventures. One thing I didn't like was you don't remember the things that happened at first because it has so many pages!
I would recommend this to kids and adults. People who like fantasy books should read this book too. For kids, I would recommend this to third- fifth graders. I loved this book and I hope that you would read this book too!

Summary: Wonderful children's fantasy
Review: I read the Canadian version of this book (with the title of The Philosopher's Stone), but other than a few Americanizations, it is the same book.

I am giving this book 5 stars as a children's fantasy book. I would probably be a little rougher on it if it's original intent had been an adult fantasy, but this book is a wonderful introduction to the fantasy genre. It's not so deep and involved that it will turn off the young reader who doesn't usually pick up a book, but it is involved enough that it prepares the young reader for the journey into bigger and better things. If a child has already started reading things like Lord of the Rings (I read it in 3rd grade), then he/she may be a bit bored by the Harry Potter books, but the first one at least is short enough that it probably won't happen that way.

Once you've read the first book, and invested some time in the characters, you'll probably be more interested in moving on to the bigger Potter books that are coming up. I know that's the feeling I have. I'm very interested in reading the rest of the series. If young readers have the same feelings (and I know a lot of them do), then the first book has done its job.

Another thing this book avoids, which is really refreshing, is talking down to the reader. I think that may be why so many adults have also fallen in love with this series. There are some things in it which don't seem very usual for children's books in the States (such as Hagrid being snookered because he had had a little too much to drink), but there's nothing that's inherently harmful in my eyes. Yet it also allows the adults to enjoy the book without feeling like they're reading a "kid's book." I found this book walked a very fine line between being "too much a kid's book" and "too grown-up to be a kid's book," and it did it exceptionally well.

I'm not going to summarize it, because I'm sure it's been done much better eleswhere. What I will say is that, if you want to get your kids reading, this is a great book to start. And don't feel too shy about picking up the book and reading it yourself after your kids have gone to bed.

Summary: An excellent book
Review: I read the first Harry Potter recently. I thought it was one of the best books I have ever read. It was interesting, exciting and suspenseful. I had a great time reading this book. Normally, I woud tell you about the part I enjoyed the most, but I enjoyed everything so much, I couldn't explain everything. I strongly recommend this book, and have fun reading it

Summary: A new classic
Review: I read the first three books a couple of years ago, but read them again after seeing the movie. Since there are already many reviews outlining the plot, I will just say how much I enjoyed it. Definitely a Childrens classic that adult's will enjoy as well. I do have a couple of quibbles though. Harry's treatment at the hands of the Dursley's seems very far-fetched. I know that this is a common theme in children's fantasy, but it's a little overdone. Secondly, Quidditch makes no sense at all, neither the concept(why just have one seeker, when you could have six?) or the fact that an assembly line broomstick (the nimbus 2000) should give one an advantage(shouldn't it be magical and athletic skill?)
But, all on all an excellent book (and the movie was good too!)
