Rating: Summary: This book was spell-binding, we could not put it down. Review: I began reading Harry Potter to my children (ages 12 & 9) at bedtime. I found it a little difficult to read aloud. It is so suspensful my children begged me to read it at all times of the day. Our bedroom was alive with laughter when they mentioned the 'booger flavor bean' and they were snuggling close when they feared for Harry's safety. They would plead for "one more chapter" and then when they fell asleep, I continued reading on my own. It is a wonderful fictional book. I was a little alarmed at the blood drinking scene, but this scene should not be taken out of context. This book is great for the imagination, and the kid in all of us.

Rating: Summary: Creative and Imaginative- not just for kids!! Review: I began this book with great apprehension. To say it had been highly recommended was an understatement, yet I could hardly bring myself to read a children's book. In the beginning, I was aware of the simple writing style and I had to coax myself into giving the book a chance. Very shortly after that, I found myself lost in the story. It is an exceptionally creative and delightful story about a young wizard boy who ultimately triumphs over evil. I am so glad I read it, and as soon as I finish this review, I plan to start the next story in the series. This book was easy to read and incredibly enjoyable. I still cannot believe it is a children's book. I liked it so very much!
Rating: Summary: As the last person on the planet to read Harry... Review: I believe I may be the last person on the planet to read Harry Potter! And I'm so sorry I waited! Wow! As a fully grown adult, but not a Muggle, I was not expecting to be so swept away. But I read the book in one sitting, letting supper burn and the cat cry to be let out...Harry is a fabulous story for all kids who know they have something extra special inside them. Also recommended for kids this age: Chronials of Narnia, Anne of Green Gables series, and the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Review: I believe that this book was very interesting and adventerous, it is also a creative book. The way they used the concept of wizardary was wonderful. It's like the book was taking you on a rollercoaster ride from the beging to the end. You will never know what is going to happen next. I love this book and it is perhaps one of my personal favorites.

Rating: Summary: Best audio book series I've ever heard Review: I borrowed "Sorcerer's Stone" on audiobook to play for my kids on a long car trip, and after hearing it I proceeded to buy each subsequent audiobook in the series (I'm now up to "Order of the Phoenix"). Jim Dale is the best audiobook reader I've ever had the pleasure of hearing, and I've listened to countless audiobooks. We often go on rather lengthy car trips as a family, and these tapes have made the hours fly by for all of us. It's amazing how Jim Dale is able to give a distinctive voice to all of the many characters in each book. As soon as each character begins speaking, it's immediately obvious who it is even without context. My kids are younger, and I'm waiting until I feel they're ready to hear books 3 and up, but nevertheless I've listened to all of the books on my own--I couldn't wait that long! I told my husband I bought them to save for the kids, but really it was just an excuse. It's difficult enough to wait for the next installment of the series in book form, but waiting for the next Jim Dale rendition of the new book makes it that much harder!
Rating: Summary: Great book for both young and old! Review: I borrowed this book from my brother(12) because I had heard through word-of-mouth that it was really good. I had just finished reading a book and was waiting on the next book (R.A. Salvatore rocks by the way) and I figured I should give it try since I was out of reading matierial. I sat down reading this expecting something very juvenile and cute. I was quite wrong! Harry Potter had me seated for a good six hours straight on my first instance of reading it. I was pulled into a world of 'muggles' (non magic users) and magicians alike. I will admit I had this book finished in two days. :) It makes you relate to Harry Potter, and step right into this little man's shoes. From his completely 'normal' world of living in a broom closet into that of a magician-in-training. I enthusiastically give this book a 5 star rating! Prepare to have your socks knocked off by J.K. Rowling!
Rating: Summary: This mom loved the books Review: I bought all three Harry Potter books for my 11-year-old son for Christmas, and, before giving him any books, I always read them first. I think they're wonderful! They're fun, challenging to a young reader, and are sure to keep him interested. Harry Potter demonstrates the value of making good choices and shows how an ordinary kid can be a hero. These books are pure and simple fantasy; they are no more "evil" or "anti-religious" than Tolkein's Lord of the Rings or CS Lewis's Narnia series, both classic works of fantasy, and I have no doubt that these books will also be read over and over by kids, both young and old, for years to come.
