Summary: it's really five stars
Review: Has anyone noticed that those who review this book at three stars or less and REALLY MEAN IT cannot spell, or put a sentence together?

To those who think the characters are too simple, I'd just point out that one man's piece of cardboard is another man's archetype. And I can't see how you can argue that Snape, in particular, is all good or all bad.

To those who think it's no good because it "isn't any better than" C.S. Lewis, Madeleine L'Engle, Edward Eager, Lewis Carroll, Norton Juster, Roald Dahl, or whomever--this is a little strange. If it's only "as good as" the work of these other writers, that means it's EXCELLENT. And a lot of the kids who are caught up in the Harry Potter phenomenon are bound to discover these other writers' books. (This is a good thing.)

To those who feel that Slytherin is an evil house, I really think you're making an unwarranted inference. Harry didn't want to go into Slytherin because he'd heard too many dark wizards came out of it, but he is sensitive to this because of his parents' deaths. So far we've had 3-4 unsympathetic Slytherin characters, out of the 200 or so in that house. I'd be willing to bet that Rowling will eventually give us a sympathetic Slytherin character!

And to those who are afraid of its "un-Christian" overtones: I think rather than keep this book from your kids you'd do better to teach them the difference between fantasy and reality.

Summary: Harry Potter Brought Back My Youth! ++++++++++
Review: Have been reading this first in the series ( I bought the rest to make sure I had them in stock when ready to move on) in my car, at lunchtime, and I am mesmerized. Reminds me a lot of The Wind in The Door and Lion, Witch and Wardrobe books. I feel like I am 10 years old again (am 41)while reading the Harry Potter book. Thanks J.K. Rowling, for inspiring my creative urges for fantasy and bringing back my youthfulness! Can't say enough about a book that keeps me spellbound in my car at lunchtime!

Summary: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by JC
Review: Have you ever done something so amazing that it could save hundreds of people? In the story, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, by J.K. Rowling Harry Potter, the protagonist, risks his life to save the rest of the world.
In this story a huge giant named, Hagrid, rescues Harry from his dreadful stepparents the Dursleys. Then Hagrid told Harry why everyone knows his name. Hagrid explained to Harry, '' an evil wizard named Voldermort took many wizards and turned them bad. One night Voldermort came to your house ,Harry. and whoever he wanted to kill didn't stand a chance. Your parents fought and fought but he killed them. He also tried to kill you but his spell backfired. Something about you ,Harry, had stopped him that night.' After that Hagrid gave a letter to Harry telling him that he had been accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He also gave him a very weird list of school supplies. Harry started to frown and replied sadly, 'but Hagrid I don't have any money.' 'Don't worry about that', replied Hagrid. Hagrid got Harry's money out of Gringott's Bank, and he also picked up a very scruffy package. When Harry got to Hogwarts the first few months went by very quickly and smoothly, except for Harry and his friends detention in the Forbidden Forest. As he was walking through the woods he saw the most fearful sight. He soon would find out that the monster he had seen was Voldermort. Harry also found out that the scruffy package Hagrid had picked up was the Sorcerers Stone, which gives you eternal life. Harry thought Voldermort wanted it, so Harry told Ron and Hermione about his discoveries, and they had to stop him that night. When they got to the corridor on the third floor, they ran into one of the things guarding the Stone, a three headed dog.
Harry, Ron, and Hermione knew that if they got passed the dog, there would be many more tasks for them to accomplish. I encourage you to read this story and find out if Harry can stop Voldermort and stay alive in the process. If you read this story, you will be on the edge of your seat every time you turn a page! I was!

Summary: Harry Potter: An outlet for the under appreciated
Review: Have you ever dreamed of having magical powers, being able to talk to animals, cast spells, or play with dragons? In the magical world of Harry Potter all this and more is possible. In the first book of the series, entitled Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone readers get their first opportunity to immerse themselves into the imaginary world of wizards and witches.
The main character, Harry Potter, is treated, as a low class nobody at his house. His Aunt and Uncle force him to live underneath the stairs and wear old clothing. This changes when he enters the world of magic. There he his treated as a hero and most people look up to him. This concept of the low class making it big appeals highly to people in similar situations, that is being under appreciated and overlooked. Being able to see others make it plants seeds of possibilities into people who dream of some day getting out of the everyday rut of their lives.
Throughout the book readers get to see Harry and his friends Ron and Hermione grow and gain confidence. In the beginning they are a little unsure of their possibilities but by the end they are confident in their abilities. This appeals to people who lack confidence or self-esteem. Seeing people who are also lacking in confidence accomplish things they never thought possible, gives people hope in their own future. Readers can come to realize that anything is possible through friendship and determination.
By the time the reader is done with the book they will have experienced an engrossing and thrilling tale that will keep their imagination running wild for weeks. Though it may be more appealing to people who are in similar situations as Harry, the book offers sound advice to all readers. It offers a story were friends work together to help others. This is a concept that is greatly needed in our society, the idea of charity, helping out for the sake of kindness.
But, if you are only a little kid, the only thing you will get from this book is how to cast spells on your parents when they make you go to bed early.

Summary: Book review
Review: Have you ever dreamed of you having some kind of special powers? What would you do if you found out that you were a wizard? I would probably freak out or something because that would be, in some cases, awesome (in my opinion).
The Harry Potter series I thought are pretty good. This book I am going to talk to you about is the first out of the four. I think this is the best one because it has a lot of secrets and twists. Some weird things are that Harry's dad and mom where both killed by a wizard by the name of Voldamort! In the book, the people don't say his name because he is so cruel. But because of Voldamort, Harry Potter is famous because he is the only one who lived after Voldamort came through. Later in the series you learn more about how his parents died. I think it is cool how the author writes her books. She gets you in the book so you read the next one and the next one and so on. Every book though it seems she tells you more about how the parents died and how Harry's school days go on.
Later in the book Harry has to go through a lot of challenges to stay alive. In the end, Harry finds himself face to face with Voldamort, which has taken over one of Harry's teacher's body. This is how the book ends, but I left a lot of stuff out for you to find out for yourself. So to my conclusion, this is a great book and a great series.

Summary: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by Brittany
Review: Have you ever known a secret but couldn't prove that you knew it? In the book, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," Harry Potter, the protagonist, knows a huge secret but nobody believes him. Not even the teachers at school. In order to prove that he knows the school secret Harry and his friends, Ron and Hermione, go to the 3rd floor corridor where another door is located. Hermione magically opens the door and inside is another huge suprise! A three headed dog! The dog's paw was over a trap door. Harry, Ron and Hermione go through the door and fall into the devil's snare.

Another favorite scene that kept me on the edge on my chair was when Hagrid had a baby dragon. When the dragon hatches and almost catches Hagrid's beard on fire is a really funny scene. This is because Hagrid doesn't think anything of his beard being caught on fire; he just looks at the dragon and says that he's cute.

The final scene that kept my reading was the scene when
Harry and his friends had detention and had to go into the dark forest with Hagrid. In the forest they see a dead unicorn, and Hagrid says they should split up to see if there are any more. Ron and Hermoine go with Hagrid but, Harry has to go with Malfoy, a person he really dislikes. Harry and Malfoy find a unicorn, but there is something with it. There was something eating it's blood! Malfoy ran off to go find Hagrid and left Harry all alone!

If you're really into adventure, I encourage you to read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.

Summary: Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone
Review: Have you ever played a sport while flying on a broomstick? In "Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone" J.K. Rowling gives you a front row seat of her idea of a mystical world of witches, wizards, and dragons. Harry Potter is just your average 11-year-old with a little hint of wizard blood in him. In "Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone" Harry goes off to Warthogs the school of witchcraft a wizardry. In Harry Potter's first year at Warthogs he runs into some consequences that add up to one of this years magnificent fiction thrillers. This is a great book that everyone should read and that is why I give it five stars.

Summary: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Review: Have you ever read a book and could not put it down? Well, this was the case with the book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. This book is well written and will keep you on the edge of your chair. J.K. Rowling, the author of this book, presents a very breath-taking, imaginative, and an adventurous story about a boy, Harry Potter, who gets a letter (from a wizardry school) after spending his first ten years living with his uncaring aunt, uncle, and cousin. Thus, realizing that his life is changing, he goes through many obstacles---meeting new people, adapting to a new environment, and making a new family for himself. Because the plot and character changes repeatedly, many people could associate to one of the characters or know something like this at school whether they were like the bossy but knowledgeable Hermione or the comical Ron. The story identifies the anxieties and conditions all children go through; dealing with the bully, the mean teacher, the agony of keeping secrets and having the bravery to work against inequality. Therefore, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is a book for all ages at which you will enjoy. I highly recommend it.

Summary: In praise of J.K. Rowling
Review: Have you ever read a book that uses such vivid imagery, you feel as though you are there? This is exactly what happens when I read a Harry Potter book. The way everything is described, the emotions the words provoke, are strikingly realistic. So much so, that when I saw the movie, it was exactly like I had pictured it. The Sorcerer's Stone provides mystery and wonder that makes you flip through the pages as quickly as possible. I strongly recommend being alone while reading this as well. I actually laughed out loud at many points. I'd also like to comment on all the people who are trying to ban this book. These people are the type who like to twist and pervert everything they read. They obviously have nothing better to do with their time. Instead of trying to ban this book, why not go and read Alice in Wonderland. Have you ever picked that apart? Looked at the pictures? That is far more offensive than this. I apologize to C.S. Lewis, he was a good writer, but had a few moral problems. I also don't see what the problem is with the Pagan ties, the people who I know that are pagan in religion, are very moral good people. Paganism is not an "evil" or devil worshipping religion. So I think everyone should get of Rowling's back, and continue reading her excellent and highly entertaining works. While you're waiting for book five, you might want to read Tolkiens "The Hobbit" and "The lord of the Rings" series, they use a similar story telling style and are as entertaining.

Summary: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone a review by Max
Review: Have you ever seen magic or done magic? In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, a boy named Harry is a wizard, but he doesn't know it yet. He lives with his aunt and uncle and their son Dudley. Strange things start to happen a couple of days before Harry's eleventh birthday. Harry, the protagonist, starts to get letters more and more each day, but his mean uncle won't let him see them. There were also owls all over town even during the day. One day Harry's uncle can't keep up with all the letters so he goes to a lighthouse. Suddenly, there was a huge pounding on the door and the door fell down. There stood a gigantic man named Hagrid. He came to pick up Harry to take him to a wizard's school named Hogwarts.
Imagine shopping for school in a secret alley to get an owl and a wand. Or perhaps running through a wall to get to a train platform #9 ¾? On the train, Harry meets Ron and Hermione. They become Harry's best friends in this strange world which he is entering.

When they get to Hogwarts, they are divided up into four schools. Harry, Ron and Hermione all go to Griffendore. Each of these schools compete against each other. One of the games they play is quidditch. Harry becomes the star player as the seeker. Harry also has a special lightening bolt on his forehead which makes him famous at
Hogwarts.
The story had been told throughout the wizard world that Harry lived after Lord Voldemort killed his parents and tried to kill him.
There is a place in the school that they are not allowed to go to, but Harry, Ron and Hermione accidentally went there. When they tried to get out, they find a three headed dog-named Fluffy on a trap door. He was protecting the Sorcerer's Stone. This stone is a rare stone that lets you live forever when you have it.
Professor Quill comes in at Halloween and says that there is troll in the dungeon and then faints. Harry and Ron go to the girls bathroom to warn Hermione, but the troll was in the bathroom. Harry and Ron knock the troll out and all the teachers come in. Harry saw that Professor Snape had a cut on his leg. Harry thought that Professor Snape was trying to get in the trap door and Fluffy bit him.
If you want to hear more about this mysterious stone at Hogwarts, I suggest you read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.
