Review: A Great Book For Any Age I'm a seventeen year-old and a junior in Enlgish III Pre-AP. When I saw Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone on my independent reading list, I decided I'd read it to see why it received so much publicity. I really enjoyed reading this book and I have seen for myself what makes it such an excellent book to read. It is filled with magic, mystery, suspense, and humor. J.K. Rowling did a wonderful job on describing and presenting details to give you a clear picture on all the characters and everything that is happening. The vocabulary that she used in the book, I thought was very neat. Humans that had no magic abilities were called "muggles". She even explained a game the wizards played called "quidditch" which reminds me of a game of hockey, but with the techniques of football, and baseball combined along with it. And most importantly she makes the main character (Harry Potter) an easy individual to admire. The reader can understand the dilemmas he is going through and feel sorry for Harry. When Harry gets awarded points for Gryffindor (his dormitory at Hogwarts School) the reader rejoices, like an audience in the stands when a touchdown is made. Harry Potter is definitely a fun, good book for anyone to read whether you are 8 or 82.

Review: A great book for everyone! A terrific book from cover to cover! I myself have read this book 2 times with the second time being the best. It is charming and exciting from the day he leaves his awful relatives. This book has charmed it's way into my heart and hopefully yours! Harry Potter is really famous in the wizarding world. At the age of one, he survived a curse of the powerful Dark wizard, Lord Voldemort. His parents, however, died. Ever since then, Harry has lived with The Dursleys, his Aunt, Uncle, and spoiled cousin, Dudley. The Dursleys hate him, because he is a wizard. They make him sleep in a cupboard, and never throw him birthday parties. Even at school, Dudley, and his friends pick on Harry. Harry is glad that next year, he, and Dudley are going to different schools.
Then one day letters arrive at the Dursleys. When Uncle Vernon reads them, he hides them from Harry. The giant Hagrid comes to the hotel the Dursleys are staying at. Harry is surprised to find out he is a wizard. The Dursleys don't want him to go to Hogwarts, but Hagrid still buys his school supplies in a place called Diagon Alley. On the Hogwarts express he meets Ron Weasly, and his brothers, Fred, George, and Percy. Pretty soon Harry finds himself in a world full of witches, wizards, jellybeans of every flavor, and pictures that move. At the end of the year, Harry faces Lord Voldemort, again.
