Rating: Summary: Getting Better All the Time Review: I read the first Potter book on a flight from Calgary. Found it a wonderful read--very, very British (I grew up on Richmal Crompton's William Brown books, Billy Bunter etc). Very inventive--Quidditch in particular. The next one got better ( the Howlers are a great idea, I'd love to send a few to Powers-that-are- but- should- not- be, but the third is much the best. Lupin is a very interesting character, Hermione is getting quite charming and the sub-plots getting more sophisticated. The Hippogriffs are fascinating, wouldn't mind riding one or just a broomstick for that matter!
Rating: Summary: The Best One So Far! Review: I read the first two and absolutely loved the first one (The Sorcerer's Stone). I had no idea that it could get better!Harry's third year in Hogwarts was a whirl of excitement, revelations, suspense, magical mayhem and pure fun! I found myself cheering (quite literally) during the Quidditch games as though I was part of the audience myself. What makes Harry Potter's books so fun is that you actually feel as though you belong there too; like you're part of Harry's circle of friends, along with Ron and Hermoine. We know that children will enjoy this book but it's really for any age. I'm 28 and I've already pre-ordered Harry Potter 4 for MYSELF (no kids!).
Rating: Summary: Terrific. I couldn't put it down!!!!!! Review: I read the first two books about the wonderful little boy HarryPotter and I loved both of them. I was so excited when this book cameout. This book was by far the best of the three. It kept me guessing what was going to happen to Harry, Ron and Hermione. The only problem is that I read it so fast and I finished it before I knew it. When is there going to be another book? I have never been so excited to read before. Ms. Rowling has such a wonderful imagination and she makes the readers want to jump right into the action with the characters. Thank you Ms. Rowling for making my reading experience a most enjoyable one.
Rating: Summary: Another Magical Experience Review: I read the first two Harry Potter books a year or so ago. I figured it was time to get on the "Hogwarts Train" again (so-to-speak). It was just as wonderful as the last two books. I was especially thrilled by Professor Dumbledore's advice to Harry Potter toward the end of the book: "You think the dead we loved ever truly leave us? You think that we don't recall them more clearly than ever in times of great trouble? Your father is alive in you...and shows himself most plainly when you have need of him." I LOVE IT. The last few chapters in this particular book will really keep one "gripped". I'll have to read the next two books--in due time. Smiles :)
Rating: Summary: Disappointed Review: I read the first two Harry Potter books, and I must say that I'm disappointed with the third. I know that this seems to be the most popular--especially with those I know--but I didn't enjoy this one as much. I gave the first two four stars each, so I couldn't give this one four, because in my opinion, it wasn't as good. The plot wasn't as strong and the ending was more of a let-down than the first two. The Chamber of Secrets is still my favorite, but I'm working on the fourth now, and so far it's the best yet. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is a good book, yes, but in my opinion, not quite up to the level of imagination and brilliance of the first two. A good read, though. Can't wait for the fifth.
Rating: Summary: JK Rowling has done did it again! Review: I read the novel Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and was amazed that JK was able to do it again. This book is as good or maybe even better than the two books that preceded it. This book beautifully illustrates JK Rowling's pure genius, not only is this is a great book, but it is the third in the Harry Potter series. Some authors are not able to recreate the original books in the sequels but JK did it. This book had a "hook", something that made me want to turn to the next page, even at midnight I still could not help but continuing for hours. I would recommend this book to anyone who read the first two but if you haven't read the first two, because you won't understand the plot if you didn't read the prequels. I enjoyed this book and the rest of the series more than any other book or series I have ever read. JK Rowling is a talented writer who brings regular life for an adolescent with the life of a regular wizard child. This aspect makes a muggle child, muggle means a non-magic person, relate to Harry when they read the story. It also keeps the interest of the reader because the magical elements of the story are very fanciful and funny, it is not just a story about a normal boy, and it includes the magic too. This book is very good because it kept my interest every time I picked it up, I highly recommend I for anyone who has ever read the first two Harry Potter books.
Rating: Summary: 2nd Best Harry Potter Book Review: I read this book and this is only topped by Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.It is still great after 3 books,as all other Harry Potter books. It still has a great story. Great characters make this a must-read.Great details and descriptions make you want to be a wizard. It seems so possible, so beleiveable you will think it could exist. It is very cheap for it's value. The characters are very original,Harry has a magic school which he learns magic.Harry has friends, teachers and everything normal people have.It so possible you will think what if you were a wizard in Harry's world.I have found only 1 book that is better than this so you can guess I highly recommend this book it is ,very, very, good.
Rating: Summary: What's all the fuss about? Review: I read this book as an adult and I just don't see what has everybody cheering. I notice that nobody extolls its literary quality, and with good reason. It reads like the script for a television show. The one strength that the book has is a well constructed plot. Unfortunately, the plot does not start to unfold until the last few chapters. Until then we get to observe the everyday lives of the various witches and wizards. They attend classes that consist mainly of memorizing magical incantations. Outside class mostly what they do is go shopping. Apparently the magic of the free market exceeds that of the occult. Christian conservatives have nothing to be concerned about. There are even holiday breaks for Christmas and Easter. I found myself not caring a hog's wart for any of the characters. The main character, Harry Potter, is particularly uninteresting. If your idea of great theater is a television show then this book may be for you. Otherwise, for both children and adults I would advise something better written.
Rating: Summary: I could not put it down Review: I read this book every night even when I was tired. This is the first book that I have read in the series, and it compelled me so much that I am going to continue reading the books.
Rating: Summary: Readers beware Review: I read this book for fun and i found it quite hard for my level of reading. Although through my parents explaining what the larger words have meant. I have found the book to be quite enjoyable through my reading experience. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J. K. Rowling. It is about a boy that lives with his aunt and uncle because his parents are dead. He gets in trouble and runs a away but was in grave danger because there was a escaped prisoner. Through his travels at school there are a number of threats and much confusion that Harry helps to solve.
