Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Review: Oh, my! How could anyone not find this the best of all the Harry Potter books to date? Harry learns about his past and his parents' past; fascinating new characters are introduced-- Sirius Black, Professor Lupin, Buckbeak the hippogriff, the Dementors, and even Peter Pettigrew; an amazing mystery is resolved, and things are not as they seem. This is a great mystery as well as a great adventure. I, at least, am chomping at the bit until this book can be made into a movie. Until then, I'll just read the book over and over and over. :)
Rating: Summary: Original, zany, and perfect! Review: Oh, what an awesome book this is... The storyline was sturdy, the mystery had me suspended, and the characters stunned me. a true, good, and wonderous novel. As the sequel to my personal favorite book, Chamber of Secrets, it is a truly great novel with lots to tell. If you, sitting in front of your computer screen, are rolling your eyes and saying, "Oh, great. Another trip inside a Potter-obssesed maniac's brain," then... um, oh well. To start my overall view on the book, I'd have to say firstly, that the plot twists and turns were unexpected and surprising. You didn't guess right in the middle of the story and get to say you were right when you finished the book. In the perfect times, humor was added. It all went perfectly together as yet another secret about Harry Potter was revealed. I devoured the book and once I was done, had to purchase the sequel. Now, I have been waiting for the blasted 5th book to come out. Because I'm waiting, I recently visited the 3rd book after taking a break from my streak of reading Chamber Of Secrets over and over agian. Oops, got to go read more of Prisoner Of Azkaban!
Rating: Summary: There aren't enough stars here... Review: OH, WOW! Most of the time books later on in a series get worse but not this!! These keep getting better and BETTER! I think that Black and Lupin are two awesome additions to the cast of the Harry Potter epic. I can't wait for books 4 through 7.
Rating: Summary: Calling all Muggles - Learn more about Harry and Hogswart Review: Ok I will first admit that I am 33. Old enought to have kids that should be reading this book. But, what can I say. I am a Muggle who is hooked to this series. I read the first book 5 days ago and was unable to put it down, then read the second. Finally last night I was able to finish this adventure. Of course I am now impatiently waiting for the 4th book.As Harry, Ron and Hermonie start their third year at Hogswart they have all had interesting summers. In fact Ron's dad won a contest and he finally able to replace his broken wand. Hagrid is able to take a larger roll in this story due to some unforseen circumstances. This story starts out with the best birthday that Harry has ever had. But, this will not last. A prisoner has broken out of that evil Azkaban and Harry finds that he need to be careful of this individual, and that everyone is going to be looking over his shoulder and not letting him do some things that the other students are able to. As usual Rowling adds a few new characters to the cast who blend in seamlessly with the rest. You will finally learn why Professor Snape dislikes Harry, how Harry parents were killed, how Hermonie can take classes at the same time, and how Fred and George are able to get out of Hogswart's so quickly. Rowling has yet again described situations and places so that it is easily to be drawn in and see the story unfold in your head. This book should be mandatory reading for all kids, an ADULTS. Imagination is to be cherished. If you like the Madeline L'Engle books, or the Black Cauldron Series, this series is a must for you! (Adults and kids alike)
Rating: Summary: The problems of today Review: OK OK now im writing this because my son and daughter would never stop watching Television. I would haveto drag them away. Now they are under Harrys spell and wont leave there books! So they take them to the supermarket anywhare they can. I have only Harry to thank. ( and J.K. Rowling!)
Rating: Summary: This was a wonderful book. Review: Ok, first, let me just say, I am a Christian and proud to be one. I know that a lot of people have said that the books are "demonic" and "evil" and "will cause children to become devil-worshippers." I read in one review where the reviewer was concerened that it would ruin their spiritual health. Since everyone is entitled to their opinion, I'm not going to call the people who think the books are evil "stupid" or "morons." But, I don't think these books are evil at all. Yes, the children in the stories learn about poisons and such, but what do they do in between the stories? They go shopping. So, if there is too much emphasis on the occult in these books (and I don't think there is), then apparently, the appeal of the free market is more appealing than that of the occult. So I say to all Christian parents- RELAX!!!!!!!! Some adults have commented on how the books are "boring" or "not belonging on the times bestseller's list, but on a children's list." With all due respect, I think that when some adults reach a certain age, they forget what it was like to be a kid, and they either lose their imagination, or they forget how to use it. (Not all adults. Just some.) I personally think it's a great book for anyone with an imagination, or who remebers what it's like to have annoying chemistry/potions teachers who play favorites like Snape, or other parts of being a child. This is a wonderful book, with intresting characters, and a good plot.
Rating: Summary: THE BEST BOOKS Review: Ok, I always thought Harry Potter books were really dumb, until one day, i got bored so I read "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" it was one of the best books I've ever read and much much more! Then I just totally had to read "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" it was also the a really good book. J.K. Rowling kept the excitement up thru the whole book-i couldn't stop reading it till the very end! And the ending was quite suprsing as well. The way she writes in detail is cool-i can see everything that she writes about. Like the potrait of the big fat lady, the Great Hall, Hagrid's hut. Its like I'm there in the castle and I'm one of Harry's others friends. You should totally get this boook-it will keep you reading all day! YOu shuld actually get the whole set-their all good, and my favorite being Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets-cuz it was the first one I read of the series!
Rating: Summary: Oustanding, magical piece of work Review: OK, I do not fit the typical Potter fan stereotype (I am 42 and have not read a fiction book for years) but this is an oustanding piece of work. I read all the Potter books back to back over the summer and now I am listening to the audio casettes, one after eachother. What can I say? I though that reading the books was great, but Jim Dale's voice characterisations bring another dimension to the stories. I even found myself deliberately seeking out traffic jams so I could listen to all twelve hours in the shortest possible number of journeys! I love the way that JK Rowling adds another layer onto the characters with each story telling. You really feel like you know Harry, Hermione and Ron and this story in particular is imbued with a darkness and heroism that differentiates it from just being a children's story. Characters like the Dementors, the rotting, ghoulish guards of Azkaban (the wizard prison), Buckbeak the Hippogriff and Professor Lupin gives this third story so much depth. And the joy Harry feels when he thinks he sees his father, when he realises that Sirius Black may provide him with an alternative to staying with the Dursleys and the ecstasy of winning the Quidditch cup make this much more than a story. I wish my kids were a little older so they could read this for themselves, but I must admit that the tape is a great way to keep them entranced on long car journeys. Everyone should listen to this: unabridged it brings the pages of the book to life. It is as if Dumbledore has sprinkled on some magic that keeps the story in your mind wherever you are: always eager for the next instalment.
Rating: Summary: ONE HARRY TO RULE THEM ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: OK, I won't tell the whole plot, but here goes. This dude name Sirius Black is a fugitive from Azkaban, a penn. He's Usama, Hitler, and Hussein rolled into one menace. He's after Harry. Dementor's are like FBI men that try to find SB. There's more twist than a screw. This is the most amazing book I've read. Details, plot, rivalry, and all around HARRY GALLORE! If you read one HP, read this one!
