Summary: AN BAD BOOK
Review: Look at the symbol on Harry Potter's forehead.

It's the Satanic "S" - It represents a lightning bolt that means "Destroyer". In mythology, It was the weapon of Zeus. Worn to have power over others.

Also was worn by the feared SS of Nazi Germany who killed the Jews after an area was conquered.

Here are some quotes:

Professor Snape who taught Potions: "I don't expect you will really understand the beauty of the softly simmering cauldron with its shimmering fumes, the delicate power of liquids that creep through human veins, bewitching the mind, ensnaring the senses...."

A Centaur's views on astrology - "We have sworn not to set ourselves against the heaven. Have we not read what is to come in the movements of the planets? ....Or have the planets not let you in on that secret?"

"He is with me wherever I go," said Quirrell quietly, referring to Voldmort. "I met him when I traveled around the world. A foolish young man I was then, full of ridiculous ideas about good and evil. Lord Voldemort showed me how wrong I was. There is no good and evil , there is only power, and those too weak to seek it.... Since then, I have served him faithfully."

Headmaster Dumbledore: "To the well organized mind, death is but the next great adventure."

Hagrid, the grounds-keeper at Hogwarts, telling Harry about the strange power that saved his life, "Happened when a powerful, evil curse touches you - didn't work on you, and that's why yer famous, Harry. No one ever lived after he [Voldemort] decided ter kill 'em, no one except you..."

Summary: Ms. Rowling strikes again!
Review: Loved the book, as well as the previous two titles in the Harry Potter series.

These books are great for readers of any age -- fun, clever, but not too deep. Some mild violence, but no more than Saturday morning cartoons.

Enjoy!

Summary: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Review: Loved! Loved! Loved! this book. It is the third in the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. The original characters continued and more were added to the adventures of the wizard, Harry Potter.

Summary: My odd perspective
Review: Many of the reviewers have indicated that their children are an excuse to read and enjoy the Harry Potter books -- I kinda think that the books might be an excuse to have kids! The only thing missing from my delight over these books (and particularly the third) is the fun of watching the face of a child being read to. Maybe I'll volunteer or something!

Had I read this as a kid, I'd be hanging around the mailbox for a letter from Hogwarts. Sure, everything is a bit superlative (too good, too mean, too smart) but it's like turning up the volume on your enjoyment. Or like seeing the world in just bright, bold primary colors. And I can feel my (how corny) inner child wake right up with all the animals, FOOD, excitement, friendship. I'm starting the series over again to help bridge the gap until #4...

Summary: Da Bomb! Totally TIGHT!
Review: Many people read Harry Potter, finish it, and say what a good book! Well, that's what I did, but now I'm here to tell you why. I have read all 4 books, 15 times each (that isn't a lie!), so I would say I know what I am talking about. J.K. Rowling is an exellent writer, able to make you hate hate evil characters, and love the good ones. I find the third to be the best, because I love how the plot changes. Sirius Black has a great personality, and I think he makes a great god father. The characters explain all sorts of personalities, from spoiled to nerdy. This book is one anyone can read. I have heard all that junk about how it is too violent, and should not be read by kids. I totally disagree, and think it is a great way to encourage children to read more!

Summary: A Wonderful Turn of Events
Review: Many surprises are to be had in book 3 of the Harry Potter series. This installment is slightly different from the other two because the plot takes a huge turn. Harry and his friends are faced with more mysterious dealings at Hogwarts and the threat of an escaped convict, Sirius Black who is considered the most dangerous man in both the muggle and wizzard world. Throughout the year, Harry is faced with the fact that someone again wants him dead. The Durselys are still horrible and the Weasleys are still wonderful. If you weren't hooked before, you will be once you are done with this book!

Summary: Why Not to Read the Harry Potter Series
Review: Men, women, and childern, avid readers and not-so-avid readers, should all be forewarned. The Harry Potter books are a black holefrom which there is no escape.

I first heard about Harry Potter from my mom, who is a library director. Oblivious to the Harry Potter hype, I half-heartedly said, "Yeah, whatever," at her recommendation and she put it on my desk. In a fit of boredom later that day I picked it up and began to read. After turning the first page I was completely hooked.

I am not ashamed to say that I am now completely obsessed with the Harry Potter series. I've read each one at least ten times cover to cover, the good parts even more--I have the plots and many of the good passages memorized. What's worse, they get better with each new book, which ultimately leads to a growing dependence on them. After checking them out from the library three times, each on different occaisons, and returning them each time late, I became more and more indignant at having to return them at all. And when the Harry Potter frenzy reached our small town, they began to be checked out by OTHER PEOPLE. My beloved Harry Potter books were not always there when I wanted them. I ended up buying all three. They occupy a place of honor on my bookshelf, always there whenever I hit a moment of desperation ("Was that line 'truly show us' or 'truly make us?')

If you are planning to read these books, or give them to a loved one, you need to realize that Harry Potter will not leave you when you turn that last page. He'll occupy your thoughts for days and weeks to come (in my case, months). What's more, the agonizing wait until the fourth book comes out is just too much for young minds. Harry Potter has caught me, hook, line, and sinker, and I'm quite happy about it. Anyone who doesn't fall in love immediatly must have something seriously wrong with them.

So be careful when going ANYWHERE NEAR a Harry Potter book. It has powers you and I can't fathom. It isn't limited to age, gender or any other of our differences. The spell J.K. Rowling has cast upon it is as real as the spells Harry performs inside the book, and it will keep you dreaming long after the book is done. Ah, dreams--the greatest gift an author can give. . . Thank you, J.K. Rowling!

Summary: Fantastic reading for a kid or an adult
Review: Most of the other reviews echo what I think, so I will be brief. While in the library one day, I picked up a copy of the first Harry Potter book just to see what the big deal was all about. Before I knew it, I'd read three chapters and was heading into the fourth when I realized that I HAD to read the whole book. I've since read all of them and cannot wait for part four. Of all the Harry Potter books, I found this one much more involved and more demanding of my imagination. A great story with memorable characters that you're sure to miss once you've finished reading.

Summary: The best in the series
Review: Most young boys look forward to the summer holidays. Everyone except Harry Potter. When Harry's aunt comes the summer before his third year at Hogwarts he loses control. (..)

I think this book is the best in the series. J.K. Rowling's writing is wonderful. I love the ideas of Hogsmede and the dementors. But don't try reading this book without reading the 1st and 2nd in the series because then some of this book will not make sense. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is a great, great book!
