Summary: Violence, violence everywhere
Review: First, the good news: One star for it being a Harry Potter book and for J.K. Rowling staying commited to such a complex series after all this time. One star for it having an interesting plot involving the Triwizard Tournament and having the usual twisted ending. One star for the flowing and unique style of writing that the author keeps up throughout the book. Now, the bad news: Today's society stinks. Many people have been saying that the violence in Harry Potter books is common. Violence is everywhere. It's on TV, in movies, in the newspaper, in books, and even worse, in real life. I agree that the violence is common (I'm not saying that supernatural violence is common, just violence in general). But I process what people are saying into them saying that violence is acceptable, that today's society of violence is okay and that the violence in a book doesn't matter or doesn't affect anyone. Violence, first of all, is wrong. If people just want to ignore that, fine. Harry Potter's violence is supernatural and sometimes not. But at least there are some good virtues in the book to look up to. Unfortunately, writers these days seem to be saying that we need violence in order to have courage, sacrifice, etc. And we don't. Harry Potter is a fun series about these virtues, but Rowling is really just a mediocre author with a great style of writing that captivates. I have to give her credit for that, but otherwise she's just like any other author who says to me that you need violence to have all those good characteristics. She's also saying that you need magic in order to have power or control. Hopefully there will be a different sort of message in further books. I only took one star off so as to not make people angry. I'm not saying that you shouldn't read this book. I'm just saying that you should read it with a more mature mind. Instead of starting it or restarting it as many people have already with a thought of the book just being a good story or a piece fiction, start it knowing what the book could say to you. Happy reading.

Summary: Can it get any better?
Review: Usually in a series of books you expect for them to become less intense, but not so in Harry Potter. This book was better than the rest, and I have thought that with every new one I have read. It is entertaining, and realistic, and draws you into the book.

Summary: Harry Potter Grows Up
Review: .... As the series goes on, the Harry Potter books have become darker, and a lot more serious. Harry, who has aged 4 years sense the first book, has grown up. But this "growing up" may be a bit too fast for most of the series' younger fans.

When the first book came out, it was a fairly good-sized book, 250 pages . Now, with 700+ pages, it is beginning to look like a series for older kids. The characters "find their hormones" as the author puts it, and not only decide to start ... As the series stretches on, characters start getting involved romantically and start cussing, among other things. But the darkness is surprising and is nothing a thirteen-year old can't handle. All of the 'maturing' hapening is very realistic, but fans that started reading Harry when he first came out in 1998 at the age of 9, are now only 11 - anid have aged 2 years, relative to Harry's 4, and they may not be maturing as fast as Harry. Also, the magic takes a slight turn from the 'Cinderella' magic more towards the "Blair Witch" type. And of course anyone who grows up looses thier innocence and is exposed to more and more grizzley things - but the problem is that as Harry is growing up, kids aren't growing as fast.

Summary: A Great Book for all Adventure fans
Review: This book is truly a great book in the Harry Potter series. It is my favorite. It does seem a bit long at times, but the end is the best part of any book I have ever read. It is very well written with highs and lows thgoughout the school year. JK Rowling is the only author I know who could actually perform given the incredible expectations of this book. She leaves the ends open to leave all Harry Potter fans begging for more. I look forward to reading book 5 very much. I can't wait until is released after this! I read the whole book in less than three days! A masterpiece and the cornerstone of the Harry Potter series. Everything about this bok makes it a must read!

Summary: J.K. Rowling does it again
Review: This is an excellent book. I found myself staying up 'till 4:00 in the morning for four days because I couldn't put the book down. This is a must read book. I never really liked magical books untill the Harry Potter series. Although this book is great, I like the third book better.

Summary: This has got to be the best Harry Potter book to date
Review: I have just only become a Harry Potter fanatic, but was enchanted from the first chapter of The Sorceror's Stone. I read the first three books within a week, finishing each in a day. The fourth, however, was too long to read in one day, as I was busy with work and other committments. It was the best one of the series by far, though. It has so many more twists and mysteries that you have no clue to the outcome, even though you are lead to believe that you know what's going to happen. I wouldn't recommend starting with this one, as it is always best to start from the beginning of the story, but i urge everyone who is interested or curious about the series to read up to this book. It is worth the time and energy, and it sends your imagination through a wonderful journey of fantasy and wonder.

Summary: Sadly In Need Of Editing
Review: Having read the entire series aloud to my 9 year-old (and having enjoyed at least the first book), I have to say that if "Goblet of Fire" had not been part of the Harry Potter series, I doubt it would have been published. The plot meanders, and the language is often awkward and repetitive. It seems, too, that Rowling is increasingly using the convenience of magical "deus ex machinas" to avoid well thought-out plot resolutions. This is one book where bigger is definitely not better. If children are going to invest the time in such a long book, they might be better turning to the classics - the Narnia tales, or even Peter Pan.

Summary: The best yet....
Review: J.K. Rowling has truly written a gem in the Goblet of Fire. In this book, Harry must face test after test, in which he not only proves himself to be a formidable wizard, but he learns a lot about his past, present, and future.

This book is darker than the first three books. However, the dark parts do not really start until the last few chapters. However, death and murder do play some large roles in this book. I would not recommend this book for young children, since they may not completely understand the significance of death and the true violence of murder. However, I believe children can read this book, if they understand more about some of the darker themes.

I gave this book 5 stars since I believe it to be a great piece of literature. It is written well enough to keep both children and adults riveted to the book. I have purchased hardbacks so that the books will last a long time and my children will be able to enjoy them as well.
