Rating: Summary: The best book of the four so far... Review: The fourth book is the absolute best out of the four that I have read so far. This book is not only for children, but for people of all ages. I assure that any reader will not be disappointed in reading the Harry Potter series. I loved it!
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: Not Worth Looking Ahead Review: The book is totally amazing, or at least, I could say that I have never skipped ahead of the book. This book is not that predictable: I bet anyone who says it is just said that because you looked ahead... shame on you, just because it's that long!Anyway, ever since the start at the beginning, and the tragic event that led to Hogwarts, the plot of events were so artfully created and cleverly plotted, and as it progresses, the ladder of intensifying events that leads to the highest point of total conflict is one of the most horrifying I've read, yet JK Rowling had reasons to make such conflicts to make an opening for the next installment, but to also thrill the reader and show how cruel evil can be. The many twists and humorous times in the book were both good and well-thought, and especially, the whole book focuses on the fight on good against evil, which is the main theme in all Harry Potter books. The 4th installment is as great, or possibly the best, just as the previous three: yet, even though it might look like the longest book of the series, don't get impatient and look ahead! You're ruining it for yourself! However... due to the content, and some horrific reads, I only reccomend this for children years 8 and up.
Rating: Summary: Good book overall Review: This book can be said to be the most predictable harry potter yet and it seems to be the only one that drags on in a couple of places. But other than that, JKR has written masterpiece. Though the plot isn't as engrossing as the previous books (book three is the best in this category), it is fairly interesting. In short the the ending is this, Harry potter take on The Dark Lord and wins. Not really a suprise, is it. This book is rated a 4 not for it's plot but everything else that makes up the book, from the characters to the mood. In short: Read IT NOW!!
Rating: Summary: Listen to the audio!! Review: We all love all the Potter books, and reading them is a delight for those who love well written English. However, we found that our enjoyment was multiplied by also listening to the books on tape or CD, narrated unabridged by JIM DALE!! Hearing Mr. Dale's expressive and superb reading of the text added so many dimensions to the Potter experience. For people who are auditory learners, or for those who commute or travel, or for those who are not able to read, these tapes and CD's offer them the wonderful Potter experience!
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Review: I thought this book was an excellent book. To me it was very interesting. This book is the 4th in the Harry Potter series. It was my favorite book in the series also. I would recomend this book to kids 9 and up. I am saying this because I read it when I was 11 and it was a little easy.I also reccomend it for kids that like adventure , fanstesy and mystery books. TIP:read the seires in order.
Rating: Summary: Of course, she's still got it! Review: At first, I was looking at the book and thinking " Will I ever actually finish this? " yes, I did. It really didn't take that long. When you don't have anything else to do, and you feel like reading, you would be surprised at how little time it takes to get hooked. I was at a rate of about three hundred pages in three hours. For me that's really fast(I take longer to read books). I agree with one of the reviews that said this one was too intense for younger fans. The book does, definatly have a different flavor. usually towards the end of every book in the series, the mystery part comes out, characters are revealed(who they REALLY are), Harry duels "You Know Who" and saves the day. This one will have you stumped in the end. trust me. Even for those of you who think you have the endings figured out. I'm almost fourteen, and I did get scared. I admit it. I recommend you read it during the day(if you get scared)But, if you're older, and love Harry potter you'll probably love this book. I really hope the fifth one comes out soon. I can't wait to see the phone book thick book. I hope my review was somewhat helpful to you. Please know this is a good book. Also, keep some tissues handy.
Rating: Summary: Not what I expected Review: This book was really well-written, and it was funny like the others, but it was definately too violent. I think it would scare kids under ten, and make older kids uneasy. I wouldn't really reccomend it. The first two were happier, and even three (which was scarier, too) was better than this. I was disappointed that this book turned out to be so violent.
Rating: Summary: Jesse West's review of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Review: Something about this book really got me interested.I guess that it was the constant suspense on what he was going to do next, when he was going to do it ,and where. This book could really describe the setting. It would make you feel like you were in it.It is a really good book,if you have time to read it.
Rating: Summary: A cliffhanger! Longer, darker, more sinister, BEST!!! Review: J.K. Rowlings has outdone herself again. Though the Harry Potter series is rated as a children's book, Book 4 is definitely for older & more matured readers. Goodbye to sissy plots & school adventures, the story is taken to a higher & newer heights. Looking past the wizardry & magic, the theme is all the more realistic & very much adult in approach. Children might find this book too 'dark' as it is full of hatred, revenge, fear, treachery, greed, jealousy, cheating, guilt, gossip (media, oh media!), pride, gambling, blackmail, attachment to power, vanity, & yes, DEATH.. Not really for young audience to comprehend nor appreciate. Fret not, though, for it has its redeeming qualities as well. To fight evil in every nooks & corners, we have strong moral core composed of love, justice, true friendship, loyalty, honesty, equality, trust, decency, responsibility, sportmanship, alliance & fareness. Truly a cliffhanger! Unlike the previous HP books, you do not get here the normal light & relieved feeling after reading till the end. On the contrary, you have this heavy burden on your chest knowing that the the greatest enemy is back & more powerful & that the end of this book is just the beginning of a more exciting, more grueling series ahead. Harry Potter has matured a lot in this book. & so has its author, J.K. Rowling. Of all the HP series so far, (#1 - 4), this book is highly recommended for reading & worth collecting. I cannot wait till the next one. J.K. Rowling, please release book 5!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Wonderfully surprised Review: Moved to London nearly a year ago and everyone here either is reading or has read Harry Potter. During the daily commute in the Tube, you can easily spot several adults reading one of the series. Just like many others, I only picked up the first one out of curiosity. Once I picked up, I couldn't put them down. I echo many readers' comments on the style and fluity of the writing. Thus, I will not repeat them. What made me like the series is it brought back simple pleasure of pure imagination. Don't know about others, but cynicism and harsh reality of adult life have stifled my creativity and imagination over the years. The Potter world is not easy either. There are deceits, betrayal, death and loneliness. It's just as sophisticated like the real world, which adults can relate to. What's different is that there is black and white, right or wrong, good or evil. It brings everything down to the basic. And of course all the magical creatures and sweets and toys just add that much more pleasure to be in there. Overall, I am proud to say I am a Potter fan!
