Summary: Dark but Excellent
Review: Harry is entering his fourth year at Hogwarts. There are two big events coming up. The first is the World Quidditch Finals, held just before term starts. The match is between Bulgaria and Ireland. After the match, Voldemort's sign is seen in the sky, and the masked Death Eaters go on a rampage. When term begins, a tournament between the threee most prominent wizarding schools is announced. Only wizards seventeen and older are eligible. Somehow thirteen year old Harry's name is put into the goblet and he is part of the contest.

This is by far the longest of the Potter books and a great deal is happening throughout. I am going to read it again to see what I missed the first time. As always, these books are entertaining, the story line is consistent, and there is great attention to detail. Great books for young and old alike.

Summary: WHAT IS WITH ALL OF YOU CRAZY PEOPLE????
Review: (...)After reading the fourth book I was let down a bit. The first three were so great (The first and third were my favorites, the second was a little strange but it was good) and this one seemed to drag on. It didn't seem like there was much content for the lenght, and to me the book read as if it hadn't even seen an editor. I think that J. K. Rowling is rushing to write them, and I think that's a big mistake. (...)
Over all this book was pretty good, but I do hope the next is better. (...)

Summary: Wow! Great Book--Just one flaw.
Review: At 734 pages, you will be amazed at how fast this book goes by. I read it in 4 nights.
A new tournament starts, and Harry ends up in the middle of it. And there is no way out this time. Ron and Hermione continue in their usual banter, which you never get tired of.
I have to subtract 1 star because once again, the villain turns out to be someone we know little about. A plot twist does us no good if we cannot truly believe it. Rowling is a great writer--she just needs to develop her villains more--not pull them from thin air. (I know a lot of people disagree with me on this, but I have the right to my opinion.) Enjoy it!

Summary: Fantastic Book (and series) for Young and Old Alike
Review: It is a shame that Harry Potter is marketed primarily to children. I'm 38 and after seeing the movie with my 5 and 9 year old daughters, decided to read the next book (Chamber of Secrets) in the series. Needless to say I got totally sucked in and by the end of the week had bought the entire series and read them all. My 9 year old is following suit but not getting through quite as fast.

Although even the first book (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone) was very good, I felt that each subsequent book got better. The Goblet of Fire was easily the best, the 700+ pages went in a flash and I was left with serious withdrawal symptoms. I heard that Amazon.com had to hire 9,000 staff and Fedex reserved 100 planes just to ship the pre-orders on this book. I'm sure that these numbers will double with the next book.

Rowlings really knows how to write in a way that transports you into a magical world in your mind. But despite the magicial setting, the human interactions and behaviour are realistic and easy to identify with. I saw many parallels with my childhood experiences in boarding school in England.

For those who have not read all the previous books, I would suggest that you read each book in the series in ther correct order since some of elements of the incredible ending twists in the earlier books are referred to in the later books.

Summary: Dark, Intriguing, and Spellbinding--Almost Literally!
Review: J.K. Rowling continues to amaze me. I often pause while reading the novels to ponder how she came up with such brilliant characters, spells, the school, the plot...I could go on all day!I found "Goblet of Fire" to be particularly spellbinding for several reasons, not just the magic of it all! First of all, the characters are so much more evolved. The wit of Ron, the sharpness of Hermione, and the fantastic main character of Harry Potter are all more vivid than before. The race to the Goblet of Fire itself is perilous, exciting and wonderful! The ending is dark--something refreshingly different as we are used to happy ending. The magical world has become more complex, also something very interesting to read about. "Goblet of Fire" foreshadows the books to come--will good or evil triumph? I know I'll be reading the books--and you should too!

Summary: Amazingly unbeliveveble!!!!
Review: This book is the best book I have ever read!!! I have currently re-read the book about 20 times. This book has constant action and dares the reader to continue to read more. J.K Rowling has some imagination, because I have nver seen a book even equal how tenative I was to this book. I wish everyone had the chance to sucomb to Ms. Rowlings fantay. Great charecters and Harry has the perfect personality. In the book, just hearing about Harry having to live with the Durselys made me feel sorry for him. I wish that I had even half the imagination of Ms. Rowling. Also a comment on the movie to the first book I think they picked a really good actor for Harry, Daniel Radcliffe, he portrays Harry down to the last deatail. Thank you.

Summary: Come on people...
Review: Look I understand that this book(s) has been proclaimed the book that would get kids back on track, and that it is the bible for devil worshipers, but it's not. It's a fad dose anyone remember furbys? Tickle me Elmo? Power rangers? This book is interesting it has a few intresting values, like friendship, and striving to try your best, and so on. I did enjoy this book, I did read it, it did keep my attention but it is not all that great. The plot is kind of chunky and they are so quick to say Snape dose everything. She needs to cure them of this bias. Also it's about to time to express the fact that they may have hormones, you can only think about Voldemort for so long. I'm sure you noticed it but up untill now all the charaters didn't seem to be interested in dating or any of those normal teenage activites. Also couldn't she make it so that they figure out more about the plot. It never falls into place until the last 3-4 chapters, it really annoys me that we have all of the information wrong untill the last page. Dose anyone else think Dudley should be hit by a car? or at least his biased Aunt and Uncle.

Summary: Harry Potter Review on Book 4
Review: Title- Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Author- J.K. Rowling
Classification- A little bit of everything. Adventure, Young adult, fiction, some Horror, and Fantasy
Plot Summmary- This is the fourth year at Hogwarts School of Wizardry for Harry Potter, and he is very excited. But again, like every year, something strange and myseterious happens, and Harry gets put into the Triwizard tournament. The thing that is suspicious is that you have to sign up to be in the tournament, but Harry didn't, so the question is who signed Harry up to compete in a VERY dangerous tournament?
Comparison- I've never really read another book that is like this one, except for the other three Harry Potter books. J.K. Rowling just puts so much fantasy and imagination into her novels that I've never read before. All her books are page turners, and the subject is something I would have never thought someone would write about.
My personal reaction is showed through this quote on pg.673, where J.K. Rowling wrote, "He had, yet again, the strange freeling that they were being watched." This might sound like a bad quote, but I think it is a great example of how J.K. Rowling kept making you want to read more and more until the book was completely finished. She puts so much suspense and adventure and fantasy in the novel that it very easily makes this book a page-turner. I love this book b/c she puts so much excitement and soo much suspense and so much laughter you just can't put it down. Now I know the quote isn't a very good example it seems, but I assure you, you need to read this book.
Praise Reaction- It's a pure page-turner! It's about 800 pages, but that won't bother anyone, b/c most finish it in one day! Great characters, great story-line. It just keeps you wanting more.
Critical Reaction- Although this is a great book, it might not be for everyone. I think this b/c some people might think J.K. Rowling has too much withcraft and wizadry and that it goes against Christian morals. Also, it might not suit well with younger children b/c some parts might be a bit scary.
