Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Review: When I started reading this book I had no idea I would get so caught up in all the action. The way the author chose to describe every little situation was incredible. It was like reading a script of a soon-to-become movie and making it real in my head. One of the things that I didn't like was the amount of fantasy in this story. Most of the things that happened to Harry Potter would never be seen in our normal everyday lives. For example, the talking hat and the sudden popularity for not getting killed by an evil sorcerer. In my opinion, J.K. Rowlings must have a lot of imagination to come up with this sort of stuff. The characteristics of Harry Potter is also a good of example of exaggerating the part a hero plays. I couldn't seem to find any faults in his character, only in his surroundings. Although Harry Potter was a flawless and perfect character, the story follows the stages of an epic story. He has two best friends and a giant who act as his mentors always trying to stop him from overcoming the challenges that are presented to him, in this case preventing him to enter the TriWizards Tournament, but in the end help him go through it all. He has a couple of obstacles like his classmate Malfoy, and his main challenge: facing lord Voldemort once again, then saving the ¡¥world¡¦ and returning to his everyday lifestyle. Harry Potter was written specifically to entertain and I would recommend it just for that. The book didn't make me think at all, it was just for pure entertainment (which is good, once in a while).
Rating: Summary: The Goblet Gobbles Again Review: The book Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is very detailed. It is about a wizard-boy named Harry who gets signed up for a contest, The Triwizard Tournament, on accident, or was it? In the book a lot of exciting things happen. For example, Harry has to go on an expedition under a giant-squid infested lake to save his friend. Harry also has to fight dragons and deal with giant, steel-armored, fire blasting insects! One more thing, I won't tell you but I'll give you two hints , it is VERY, VERY important and it has to do with the Dark Lord (Lord Voldermort).
Rating: Summary: Take a ride on the Hogwarts Express Review: If you love mystery adventure and a lot of magic then you'll love Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. After spending the first three years at Hogwarts School of Witch Craft and Wizardry Harry couln't wait to go back. With help from his friends and Sirius will Harry be able to win the Tri Wizard Tournament? The book is fun and exciting. It will keep you reading and second quessing.
Rating: Summary: Awwww... Review: When I first got this book, I was really excited, because like all the other people who have read all the previous of the Harry Potter series, I expected the fourth book to be just as good as the first three, and also like other Harry Potter fans, I thought, "The bigger the better." Yet to my disappointment, I really can't say that this book is "better" than the previous ones, or even "as good." First of all, it was hard for me to get into the mood of the book at the beginning. It may be because the last time I read it was 1-2 years ago, but the beginning of the book seemed a little unclear to me, even a little confusing. And also, unlike the 1st 3, a lot of the stuff in the book were quite predictable. It ended up, that towards the ending of the book (or last 80 or so pages) I kept asking myself, so when is Voldemort gonna show up? And I even started to suspect almost every character to have at least some connection with him. And the ending was kind of sudden, it left me hanging there, not knowing what to expect. Nonetheless, I must say that I too, later on could not force myself to put down this book, eager to find out the ending. Also, this book compared to the first 3, stressed much more on emotions, particularly love and sadness. And it went into much more depths of the characters, letting us understand more about their personalities and background. Despite the slight flaws in this book, it is ultimately a great book that will lead you into a magical world that no other book can do quite as well.
Rating: Summary: Inconsistent and morally subversive Review: Rowling has never been a champion of having characters play by the rules, but in Goblet of Fire, she goes even further. The main plot revolves around the TriWizard tournament, a wizardly contest between the champions of various schools. Harry does not solve one single element of the tournament without either cheating or having some cheat on his behalf - including entering the tournament in the first place. To be fair, at least Harry believes everyone else is cheating, too. Unfortunately, this seems to be the closest thing to a moral of the story.Rowling's world is losing some of its internal consistency as well. If truth potions exist, why is there a concern at all about who is a follower of Voldemort and who is not? How can potions that second-year-students can whip together consistently confound the most brilliant wizards around on a long-term basis? Why is Voldemort such a dangerous foe, when he makes every classic bad-guy blunder known to man? I was actually rooting for him by the end. The dumb-luck-that-saves-Harry-from-Voldemort this time is the corniest yet, particularly when combined with the collosal stupidy of Harry's enemies that was necessary to allow it to happen. Azkaban had given me hope that this series might turn out well, but this book has made me pessimistic again.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Review: This book was very exciting. It kept you wanting more. I never wanted it to end. Can't wait until book 5!! :o}
Rating: Summary: The 4th comes out even more exciting than the previous 3 Review: After the three previous best sellers of Harry Potter, the author J. K. Rowling makes the forth volume more complicated, yet exciting. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is sure one of those books that you can't put down once you've picked it up and started reading. Similar to the previous books, the tale revolves around Harry Potter and shows the meaning of friendship and family between he and his two best friends Ron and Hermione. Unlike the previous volumes, more characters are waiting to be defined, and this book gives a bigger and more vivid idea of how the dark side of the wizarding world is. Having to suffer two more weeks of summer at the Dursleys, Harry Potter is invited to watch the International Quidditch World cup along with Ron's family. There, Harry explores many new things in the wizarding world, and is also given a few hints that Voldemort, the once most powerful dark lord and Harry's greatest enemy, is coming back to power to seek Harry's life. When finally back to Hogwarts, students are both shocked and excited to hear the news that the Triwizard Cup Tournament will be held at Hogwarts this year, and also meaning that they will have visitors from two other magical schools involved in this tournament. Learning how to solve problems and overcoming obstacles instantly in a situation is a major part of the game and it becomes great help to Harry when the real bad situation came. This book is generally very suspending and it has all kinds of hidden secrets about characters that it is impossible to guess who's good and who's bad. The plot pulls us towards an ending that makes us look forward to the publishing of the 5th volume of Harry Potter.
Rating: Summary: My Book Report Review: In this magical adventure book, Harry is never not busy. Everyday or every moment Harry has something in his mind that he needs to figure out. During a celebration of thier guests from Beauxbatons and Durmstrang(which are also magical schools that teach magic), they chose the people who will compete in the Triwizard Tournament, and as the Goblet of Fire chose, a suprise happens. Which is that Harry geot picked! He wasn't even old enough to qualify, but they let him into the tournament anyway. During the tasks, he got a bit of help from Cedric, Hermione, Ron, Professor McGonagall, Dumbledore, and Mad-Eye Moody. During the 4th task, in which was very exciting, Cedric was killed by the Avada Kedavra curse performed by either Voldermort or Wormtail. In this book, the Dark Lord, Voldermort, comes back to power, by help of his father's bones, which he had to get out of his grave, who was Tom Riddle, and Harry's blood. So he made a potion that helped his body reborn. If you would like to know what happens next, I suggest you read this wonderful book. Just to tell you 1 more thing, they have this Yule Ball for Christmas. If you asked me what I thought of this book, I would say it was a great book compared to all the rest, but the first 3 were good, but not as good as the 4th. As you read this book, you heart will pound when you read the dangerous parts, and as you read the funny parts, you would laugh. What I am trying to say, is that i hope you will read this book, and not just say "Hey this book doesn't look to interesting, so I won't read it". Like a person you don't judge them by their color or how they look, so as for a book, you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover.
Rating: Summary: By far the best in the series thus far Review: Granted, I read a big chunk of the book at two in the morning while sick, but I would still call this book the best of all four thus far, and I can't wait for the 5th book to come out. At 742 pages or so, it's definitely not a one-day read (unless of course you're a speed-reader or you read from eight in the morning until eight at night), but it *is* worth it. J.K. Rowling gets better with every book she writes, though parts of the book do drag just slightly. And I'm not sure where the idea of Harry liking Cho is coming from. All in all, an excellent read and worth five stars.
Rating: Summary: Simply the Best! Review: The Harry Potter books are excellent reading material for children of all ages. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is, in my opinion the best book I've ever read. Even though some people think its says bad things about other religions, but those are the people who haven't even read one word of the book.
