Rating: Summary: As Harry Matures So Does the Series Review: The thing I like best about this series, is how the writing is steadily more sophisticated as Harry gets older. The plot gets a bit more twisty and the subplots increase as well. While the first novel painted a pretty picture of Hogwarts and the whole wizard world, each subsequent novel has been doused with irony and almost in a sense reflects the real world. I like how in this novel especially, the characters are not painted as perfect portaits. Rather we see a side of the political world of the wizards that Rowling had only hinted at previously, the political figures that should be respected are seeking their own causes and ambition. The question of who are the good guys versus who are the bad guys comes into play as trials reminiscent of the Salem witch hunts are remembered. It is interesting how this aspect gives the story depth. Furthermore, while the ending is somewhat "happy" that happy ending does not come without great tragedy and loss. Rowling also develops the relationships between the characters, making us see them as human and flawed... very 3-dimensional. Ha ha... I knew Ron and Hermione had some kinda chemistry from the very first book!! I am 23 years old and I love Harry Potter. The books remind me of Roald Dahl and John Belair that I read as a child but that my father enjoyed reading to us as well. I can't wait for the 5th book to come out!!!
Rating: Summary: The best book so far! Review: The story takes a dramatic turn in this book. It's both exciting, living up to the previous books, and poignant. She's leading up to something huge in the next few books.Highly recommended for Potter fans!
Rating: Summary: Excellent for both kids and adults Review: What's good about the Harry Potter series is that the books are suitable for both kids and adults. This 4th book in the series is no exception. It contains a mixture of elements which make would make it of interest to more mature readers while the more fantastic elements retained a sort of innocence and charm which will appeal to children. Wonderful!
Rating: Summary: The Best Harry Potter book! Review: I liked this book the best out of all the four books because it is funny, suspenfull, and has so many twists and turns it leaves you wanting more. Even though this book is quite long, it makes up for it because it has so much detail. When I finished the book I couldn't and still can't wait for the next one to come out. I would deffinatly recomend this book to people of all ages.
Rating: Summary: Too bad I can't give it 6 stars! Review: For a long time I hesitated on picking up the "Harry Potter" series. I am glad I did. Just today (at about 2:30 AM), I finished "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire". My original hesitation came from thinking that perhaps these were all "kiddie" books, not worth their while. I couldn't have been more wrong. My only regret is to have finished reading #4 so long before the appearance of #5!!! This is perhaps the best of the lot so far, it will keep you turning the pages into the wee hours of the morning. The book has suspense, humor, and the clear image of seeing Harry come of age as a wizard, but also to see him along with Ron and Hermione come of age...as teens, an awakening to their own sexuality not seen before in any of the books, but done in such a manner that can be enjoyed by all. Don't look for evil in these pages as some close minded bigots do, look for the lessons of friendship, love, courage and patience they give. Too bad I can't give it 6 stars.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Fabulous once again!!!! Review: i have read each of the books in the "Harry Potter" series several times, and have enjoyed none so much as the fourth. i think it is near impossible to find a word which describes this book correctly - it is far beyond splendid or magnificent. i would recomend it to absolutely anybody, any age, even if they did not enjoy reading very much. i read nothing else. i have heard of people saying the books are a bad influence to children, but honestly, what's the worst it can do? i believe none of them have actually read the books. like they say, "you can't judge a book by it's cover". do not be put off be people who are against Harry Potter - they are not worth missing out on the wonderful stories J.K. Rowling has to offer.
Rating: Summary: J.K. Rowling Review: This essay is Dedicated to one of the best writer I think there is!J.K. Rowling is not only a writer who creates books but she is much much more. she is highly educated. When I Was reading "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" I notice her writing was in one of the best plot development form I have ever seen. The Narrative Hook Was breathtaking, I believe it took place in the Riddles House,Where once more Voldermort was found. The Resolution consisted of Voldermort coming back, that was very attention getting too. overall, I Appreciate her work of art and I don't care what other people think. I think Harry Potter is not only a Fantasy story but the book has a symbolic meaning and that is what makes a great writer!!
Rating: Summary: JK Rowling does it again! Review: Oh my god, I couldn't put this book down when I started reading it! That is the honest truth right there. My mother is 51 years old and she thinks Harry Potter is the best thing sence peanut butter. At first when I saw her reading a story about a 12 year old boy I was like, "Mom, you're 51 years old, why are you reading about a stupid 12 year old?" (yes, I called Harry Potter stupid! Ahhh! I was forced to eat my words though, let me tell ya!) and she was like, "Sarah, you have no idea, these books are amazing." So, in my senior year in highschool, I finally started reading the first book, right before the movie came out, and since then, I have been a dedicated Harry Potter fan. My friends have dubbed me Hermione, that's how crazy I am about these books. Goblet was a long story, but I was sorry when I finally finished. I wanted to read so much more than what I had. JK Rowling really hits the spot when it comes to kids, because with Harry Potter, the only thing different about his life is that he goes to school to learn about magic, and we go to school to learn about stuff that will not help us in our life time! But Harry still has to do homework and he still has the problems that young teenagers face, like crushes and teachers that don't like him, and of course getting into trouble and getting detentions. If you haven't gotten this book yet, GO OUT AND GET IT NOW! GO! JUMP OUT OF THAT COMPUTER CHAIR, GO TO THE NEAREST BOOKSTORE AND GET THIS BOOK! AND IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE OTHERS, GET THOSE TOO!!!!!!!!!!! I ORDER YOU!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: It's Fantastic! Review: I am an adult who just had to know what all the hype was really about! So I have now read the series 1 thru 4. By far the best of the series is Harry potter and the Goblet of Fire! This book is fantastic! It catches your attention from the start and leaves you hungry for more page after page! Long after I finished it I was speculating on what would happen next in Harry's fight against the dark Lord Voldemort! It is a classic battle between good and evil with alot of fantasy thrown in! I would recommend it to kids of ALL ages!
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the School Competitions Review: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is a great book because it shows about teamwork. It shows how all the wizards work together to win the school competitions against other schools. This book is also cool because it has magic and dragon that can breathe fire with deadly fangs and claws. I liked this book so much because it felt so real. Harry Potter is a great book too because Harry also faces his fears when he has to compete in some of the great challenges of his life and try to stay alive. I really recommend this book to you because it is full of excitement and action. In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by author J.K Rowling the setting takes place in the Hogwarts Castle .Harry Potter is the protagonist and lord Voldemort is the antagonist. This book is great because Harry is chosen by the goblet of fire to compete in the competitions. Will Harry survive the school competitions or will something bad happen to him. Find out your self to find out what happens at the end.
