Rating: Summary: This is not a review of the book but the effect... Review: It's Saturday morning and oddly quiet on our tiny block. This is the day my daughter and all her girlfriends have been awaiting. A pack of them left squealing not long ago. They'd come to compare their copies...some arrived at the door from Amazon...some at the midnight party in the local bookstore...some at the mall with parents still yawning. They've excitedly discussed how many pages...how many chapters...what will become of this character or that. Now all have gone and are curled up in their homes, silently gulping their treats.I could not be happier that my girl and her friends can get so worked up about a book. A BOOK. Thank you, J.K. Rowling.
Rating: Summary: A new HP to continue the legend Review: The new Harry Potter took me 5 hours to read - but it was worth it. Starting out with a dark, mysterious atmosphere not known to the HP books before, the book made the reader "know" that something big was going to happen in the book. Harry Potter, our hero, in his fourth year, experiences more than ever in this thrilling 752 page novel. ... :-) J/K A new book to continue the legend of HP - I wonder what's next in store for us.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter Grows Up Review: The much-anticipated fourth book in the Harry Potter series has finally been released. As the series goes on, the Harry Potter books have become darker, and a lot more serious. Harry, who has aged 4 years sense the first book, has grown up. But this "growing up" may be a bit too fast for most of the series' younger fans. When the first book came out, it was a fairly good-sized book. Now, with 700+ pages, it is beginning to look like a series for older kids. The characters "find their hormones" as the author puts it ... As the series stretches on, kids who have grown to love the first three books may be surprised at the darkness - and length of the fourth installment of the Harry Potter series.
Rating: Summary: FANTASTIC! Review: A fantastic chapter in the HP saga. Worth every minute of the wait. Lots of surprises and shocks! Do yourself a favor and start reading it today...
Rating: Summary: Disappointed by the poor binding Review: The book is perfect bound instead of the sewn structure used on the earlier books in the series. Shame on the publisher for taking the cheap route. Considering they knew it was going to sell a zillion copies, they could have made a quality product. Even if many of their customers would not know the difference, Harry Levine and Scholastic could have done a good binding because it was the right thing to do. The first three books are nicely produced. I was impressed that they were of better quality than the british versions. This knew one makes me sad. I look forward to the story. I just hope the book doesn't fall apart on us. There are four people in our family who will read it.
