Rating: Summary: A very good book Review: I just finished reading 'Fire. It is a spectacular wonder. It sets the stage for HP 5. Its a must buy or read. The characters are show in-depth. (Note: I do not think anyone under 10 should read this book) READ IT!
Rating: Summary: I am astounded at how well J.K. Rowling continued the series Review: Rowling did a superb job with writing this book. I just finished it at 7 P.M. New York time. I got it at midnight. It is a bit scary at times and has interesting twists. Like the Weasleys arriving at the Dursleys boarded up fireplace, or Harry meeting one of the Stars of the latest Quidditch World Cup at school. I think that the length of this book doesn't matter at all. You might want to read it twice, because there's a lot of odd names that are hard to keep track of in the book. A superb book! Read it! But read the series in order. It helps.
Rating: Summary: Magical! Review: Fantastic. Yet another page turner by Rowling. Excellent for all ages. The most fun 700+ page book I've ever read. Although I started with Book I and read them in order, Rowling has an amazing ability to give you all the background information that you need in each book, without making it repetitious. Truly an inspirational story line for younger audiences who are worried about all the things we worry about when we are young. And the story has the ability to carry us away no matter our age. Looking for a series of books to hook a 4th-6th grader on reading? You've found it. Also wonderful books to read to/with younger children. Older kids will probably like it too, but they may never admit it ;-)
Rating: Summary: Gooood Book Review: This is possibly the best book I have read. This is the best of J.K. Rowling. I hope her next three are just as good.
Rating: Summary: Just What We Hoped For Review: I spent the entire day reading it and it's unbelievably good. As anxious as I was to get it and finish it, I have to admit that I'm now feverishly waiting for the next one to come out. I'm especially happy that this book will teach younger people to read longer novels. Harry is awesome and you will not be disappointed. Rowling is a really good writer in firm control of her characters and story. I think this series ranks up there with Narnia.
Rating: Summary: Excellent, but not much darker Review: The fourth installement into the Harry Potter series was just recently released today, and it's wonderful. As a 16 year old, I'm amazed that I can still enjoy a "childrens" book. It's an incredibly well written book, much moreso than even that last three. The characters are reintroduced as old friends, which at this point in the series they are to many of the readers. My only grievance with the book is the fact that, at least in some small part, the author is attempting to live up to her image as a writer for both adults and children. The writing is slightly more in depth, descriptive, and mature. She even uses a swear in the first opening pages. As a 16 year old child, I have no problem with this and it certainly does not impede the magnificent story, but perhaps a younger person may have a problem with that. I loved it. It's an excellent book and definatly a great continuation of the series, if not a bit long.
Rating: Summary: Looks good to me! Review: I am right in the middle of it now, about 200 pages into it. It looks very, very good. The first chapter is quite creepy, and you know something is going on, something big, but you don't know exactly what! I am going back to finish the book now...I wonder what the Goblet of Fire has to do with anything, it hasn't even been mentioned!
Rating: Summary: Great...Her best yet! Review: I recieved this book this morning and i have already finished it! it was excellent! i liked it even better than the first 3. Harry had a very exciting year at Hogwarts. I won't say anymore or i might give away the whole story!
Rating: Summary: Rowling's miracle continues Review: Well, not quite having finished the long-awaited fourth installment in the Harry Potter series (I'm on page 583) I wanted to share my veiws of the book so far.It is my opinion that Rowling is getting a little more confident, if you will, with her writing. So far, I have counted six swear words (all the same one, I think) which may not seem like much but for a book being read by seven-year-olds ... it's more than I would have thought. It seems that Rowling's jokes are getting fewer and father between, but funnier. For instance, the Malfoy/ferret scene, which I absolutely loved and have read time after time after time ... after time ... also, I loved the way Fred asked Angelina to go to the ball with him: "Oy, Angelina! D'ya wanna go to the ball with me?" I laughed out loud for almost a whole minute. Although the beginning was a little bit -- darker -- with Frank and Wormtail, and Voldemort, I liked the new introdution. And I loved the ending sentence to the first chapter. However, I do have yet to finish the whole book; maybe when I do I will post another reveiw. All in all, so far I loved this book and am now eagerly awaiting the fifth one (boy, I just inhale these things ...) so I would recommend it in general, but it's darker than the ones before, a little scarier, and I would say it isn't for anyone under, say, eight or nine.
Rating: Summary: Yet Another Feather in JK Rowling's Golden Cap Review: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire definitely lives up Harry's (and J.K. Rowling's) name. While it is a tad slow in starting, the book is unflagging in its adventure, suspense, and mystery. My one critisim: Rowling does less with details and the day-to-day life of Hogwarts students. I guess this would become boring now that we're familiar with the setting, but I found it hard to believe that an entire school year had passed for Harry when I reached the end of the book. Readers beware, however: if you thought there was suspense after book 3, and a rush for book 4, then book 5 is going to create a stampede. The 4th installment does to the Harry Potter Series what The Empire Strikes Back did to Star Wars. It presents a great triumph, yet this triumph is dimmed by grim defeat. I almost wish that I had not completed this book in the six hours it took me, because now I have another long year of anxious waiting ahead of me.
