Rating: Summary: The Magic is better in book 4 Review: I was a bit worried at first that Book 4 wouldn't live up to my expectations, but after staying up all night on July 8th and reading the whole thing (in 10 or so hours) I realized that this was the best book yet. I was disapointed by a few aspects, I'm afraid, like the inter-house Quidditch tournaments not going on, but there were plenty of other entertaining apects to keep you interested. I won't go into those now, however, as they might ruin some of the surprises for everyone. There is a wealth of new characters in this book, with many interesting and engaging people we meet along our journey through the vast 700-odd pages. My favorite of the new ones was probably Mad Eye, the new Defence against the Dark arts teacher... In this book we also learn more about the forein Magic schools, and even meet some of the students. Also, we go to the Quidditch World Cup, which is full of excitement, and (as usual, for Harry) danger! The book was quite fufilling, and I plan to read it a few more times to pick more up on the big picture. The ending left a lot open for the future, although left off at it's usual spot. Looks like it's time to start camping in front of the bookstores for book V.
Rating: Summary: Flaming Hot Review: It's great!Kids will love it once they start to read it.It's awhole new adventure with Ron,Hermonie, and of cource Harry.Once youstart you can't stop!
Rating: Summary: Is innocence lost? Review: As avid fans of the first three Harry Potter books, it would seem tobe that we would be the last people to criticize the fourth one. WhenRowling said that her books would become darker, we did not suspect that they would become extremely so. We do not recommend this book for the young (11 and under) people that this series has captivated so far. There was an increased amount of violence and occaisional crude remarks and situations that we felt could have easily been omitted from the story. There was not much comic relief either. We don't plan on purchasing the fifth book unless Rowling lightens up the plot and considers the audience to which her tales appeal.
Rating: Summary: Wow! Review: I don't dare give anything away as this book is too new but I stayed up all night to read it and I'm glad I did. J K Rowling has packed even more perilous adventure and spine tingling spells into this latest book. It was definately more involved than the last three titles but worth every minute I spent reading it.
Rating: Summary: pal Review: I just got my copy of Harry potter today, and i can not put it down. This book is for old and young alike. It is very riviting.
Rating: Summary: oh my god it was so good! Review: I have not been able to put it down since it arrived at my house about seven hours ago. It was so different from all her other books, which made it intresting. Still, the ending totally leaves you hanging and i cannot wait for the next book.
Rating: Summary: Harry IV is a Must-Have! Review: The latest in Harry Potter's magical adventures has definitelylived up to (and surpassed) its expectations. Like its threepredecessors, it's a book that you just can't put down. Although it is the longest Potter book yet at 752 pages, each page is packed with interesting and imaginative dialogue, characters, and situations. In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry and his fellow-fourth years become more interested in romances that sometimes cause conflict. Harry's still wary of You-Know-Who, trying to be on guard at all times. These worries are compounded when his scar begins to throb again and someone makes the "Dark Mark" with Harry's wand-the sign of Voldemort! But once Harry gets back to Hogwarts, there's too many other things for Harry to concentrate on-the usual class load, Professor Snape's constant watch, and of course, his crush on a certain female Quidditch player...Then, there's the huge wizarding event that will take place at Hogwarts for the first time in years! Harry tries to stay out of the limelight, but is soon unwillingly and mysteriously thrown into the spotlight-and into perilous danger. And then, of course, are the hilarious antics of the Weasley twins, the adventures of Harry and his two best friends, Ron and Hermione, Neville Longbottom's klutzy catastrophes, the taunting from Harry's nemesis, Draco Malfoy, and the other reasons why J.K. Rowling's books are so successful. The new characters that appear in Book 4 are just as crazy and unique as all of the others. Some of the new characters come into play as Harry's view of the wizarding world expands and he and his friends meet wizards from other countries. Like the other Harry Potters, ...Goblet of Fire is a must-read!
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter Delivers Review: Like many fans of the Harry Potter books, I waited anxiously for the arrival of the new chapter in the series. There is always a concern with any new book in a series that the author may have lost some of the magic. Fans of Harry Potter can rest assured that the book does in fact live up to the hype. From the first page, the story grabs you and won't let go. Rowling starts the story off at a fast clip and the momentium carries through to the exciting climax. Rowling continues to write in a style that will appeal to both adults and children. The lessons this book can teach both children and adults are invaluable. Once again, Harry learns about loyalty, friendship, and facing your fears. I highly reccomend this series to anyone who still believes that good exists and that it can triumph over evil.
Rating: Summary: J.K. Rowling's best book yet! Review: We've all been delighted before by the young wizard named Harry Potter. JK Rowling's books are very entertaining, and leave the reader with a deep sense of satisfaction. The fourth book, which I eagerly awaited and sat down to read the moment, it arrived, has outperformed all my expectations. I absolutely loved it! I didn't move from the couch during the whole time it took to read the book. Harry's escapades were thrilling, and I was taken completely by surprise at the ending. I think everyone should read these books, because they're absolutely wonderful. I wish I could write that well.
Rating: Summary: Worth the wait! Review: I'm one of those adults who was caught by the Harry Potter phenomenon. However, I wasn't sure if all the Hype over Book IV was going to be worth it. Well, after neglecting other things in order to read this weighty book, I only have one question- when is book 5 coming out? Throughout the 700 and some pages, Rowling brings us the characterization, suspense, and humor that readers have come to expect, but with a darker tone than the previous books. New characters such as Viktor Krum and Fleur Delacour open up new windows into Rowling's world, and Rita Skeeter is a wonderful commentary on the "any length to get a story" attitude of the media. The return of Sirius Black, and meeting Bill Weasley (the 'cool' Weasley) were only some of the thrills that kept me up late last night. The mounting tension towards the end of the book was enough to keep me form that thirty page paper due in two days. A masterpiece by Rowling, and the best so far.
