Rating: Summary: BRAVO-J.K. Rowling! Review: J.K. Rowling has done it again! Having spent the past 26 hours non-stop reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was one of the most compelling books I have ever read. There is nothing rushed about this book and nothing cut short. Her new characters are delightful. The end is non-stop exciting. How her books get better and better is proof that she is a gift to ourselves and our children. The smartest parents will share this experience with their children. I have already pre-ordered book Number 5.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter And The Goblet of Fire Doesn't Disappoint Review: Harry and his friends are definitely growing up, yet this fourth in a series continues Harry's saga seamlessly. New characters from two other schools for wizards are introduced, and the Triwizard Tournament succeeds the Quidditch World Cup as the centerpiece of suspense and excitement. Rowlings series is a delight for young and old alike. Hope we don't have to wait as long for number five!
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter continues to interest the Muggles Review: We've been waiting for this one.Harry Potter returns in J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. This time, the magic gets out of hand! First, remember the sleepy but mysterious village of Little Hangleton. The Riddle House is not a place for riddles, but a home where the family died of fright. The man accused of murdering them was eventually released. When he returns to the Riddle House, he overhears a curious conversation between someone named Wormtail and a terrible, dark presence by the name of Lord Voldemort -- oh, so sorry...He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. Volde... (oops, almost said it again) He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named is one of the most powerful Dark wizards -- and he wants Harry Potter. When Harry wakes from a particularly vivid dream, the scar on his forehead throbs, and he knows something is up. Harry's been living in a dreadful house on Privet Drive with his Aunt Petunia, Uncle Vernon, and greedy cousin, Dudley. They won't even let him do any wizardry -- you know Muggles, how they can't really handle that kind of stuff. Harry's uncle and aunt like to let the neighbors think that Harry goes to St. Brutus's Secure Center for Incurably Criminal Boys rather than to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He has to hide his magic -- and even broomsticks aren't a suitable topic of conversation in the Dursley household. But everything is about to change for Harry, beginning with this particular summer vacation. It starts with a letter from Mrs. Weasley, Harry's friend Ron's mother. She invites him to come spend the rest of the summer with the Weasleys and to go see the Quidditch World Cup. Quidditch is Harry's favorite sport in the world, and it isn't often that the Quidditch World Cup is in Britain. Faster than you can say "Hogwarts," Harry travels by fire to the Burrow, and the dark and threatening adventure begins. On the way, Harry discovers that his interest in girls is becoming more nerve-wracking -- how is a young wizard to ask a girl to the Yule Ball? And what of the Goblet of Fire itself? And the Triwizard Tournament? And then, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named might be seeking Harry out even now! Who can resist a Harry Potter tale? J. K. Rowling has proven again that her international success seemed inevitable -- from the first page of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the story soars. It is beautifully written, with a strong narrative and fascinating, unforgettable characters, and there is not a reader in the world who won't love this book. The novel is long - more than 700 pages -- and not one word is wasted. Now, my only problem is I need to find Harry so I can start classes at Hogwarts, soon. I sent him a message by owl, just this morning.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Review: Well, its brilliant, just like all the others. Its hard to write about it without giving away the plot, but harry is 14 now, and JK Rowling has obviously decided that its time he, and the books grew up a bit. Its a lot longer and also darker than the other books have been, but just as exciting. With seven books in the series, something more than quidditch matches have to happen to get the plot moving. Some of you might be in for a shock, but we all knew it had to happen! If you're dithering about whether to buy it or not, go for it, its well worth the money, and the subject matter is going to stand the test of time.
Rating: Summary: Another great read Review: Another great installment of the Harry Potter series. I felt that the pre-publication hype prepared us for the death of someone far more central to the series and, frankly, I felt a more than a little manipulated on that point. But, overall, the book delivers. The plot elements that make this series so wonderful were all in evidence--great characters the reader really cares about, imaginative situations, a suspenseful ending and more clues to the mystery of Potter's past. What's the publication date for book 5? I can't wait!
Rating: Summary: A Great Book! Truly a Must-Read! Review: First and foremost, i must say that this is an incredible book. I picked up a copy of the fourth Harry Potter book today, and i was taken aback at the sheer size of the book. I planned on reading just a little bit at a time (the other books in the series were short enough to read in one sitting), but one hour of reading turned into two... and three... i finally finished around midnight and was left with the satisfaction of reading the best book i have in a long time. It excells, as the others have, at immersing you into the Harry Potter world, captivating your senses and sending you through the emotional roller-coaster of Harry's fourth year at Hogwarts. The book deals with many issues that the others have hinted at: friendship, trust, love, and death. The striking presence of death is what changes the world in this pivotal book. Rowling has opened the door, past bluffs and threats, to a villain who is believably, and truly, evil. This has opened up new levels of fear that made the book more intense to read. The broader range of emotions has made this a deeper and more somber book, but even better, and more thought-provoking than the last. Rowling has once again, in a brilliant book, brought the wizarding world to life again.
Rating: Summary: spellbound to finish book in 10 hours! Review: I recieved my copy this at 11 this morning(release date!) and could literally not put it down. This book was the best yet, Rowling is showing great new depths. The Harry Potter series is really getting good. If you even liked the first three, this one you will *love*. The characters are fresh, the plot thickens nicely, and there are surprises around every corner. I read this book in ten hours...It's still July the 8th, and I'm wondering when I can expect the next one out already. Is Amazon ready to take pre-orders for the next book? Perhaps they should think about it!
Rating: Summary: I think I omitted... Review: After writing a previous review for this book, I really think I forgot to mention a few aspects. As I have stressed, this book is wonderful! A real keeper! In the beginning, I was laughing so hard at so many things, my parents must think I had gone as nutteres as Ron thinks (of course in awe) Dumbledore is. The middle was intense and humorous and all around fun, and the ending was captivating, breath-taking, and on-the-edge-of-your-seat suspence! Definatly something only a veela could take your mind off of ! (Hey, wanna know what I mean, read this great book!) Again, I applaud the works of J.K. Rowling, and I will be waiting anxiously for the 5th book to Apparate!
Rating: Summary: At long last... Review: As Harry grows, so do the stories in their depth and complexity. This may be a challenging read for younger readers, with some scary parts. However, modern kids have seen far worse on TV and in the movies, and should not have trouble dealing with the more mature elements of the story. The story unfolds a bit slowly in comparison to the other tales, but before you know it you're staying up late to finish it, and writing your review in Amazon when you should really be sleeping! I won't give away any story details. Grab a torch (flashlight) and hide under the covers for another entrancing read. Can I order book 5 now? And when does Sirius Black get his own story told!
Rating: Summary: This is a wonderful book! Review: In this book Wormtail reappears along with the evil Lord Voldemort. Harry is in contact with Sirius and develops a crush on Cho Chang. If you haven't already gotten the book GET IT NOW!
