Rating: Summary: A wonderful read--but darker than the others Review: I just finished reading the Goblet of Fire, and really enjoyed it. It is a "darker" story than the others, more serious in many parts. But it was very enjoyable when talking about the World Quiddich Match, many of the classes and the tournement. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed the first three, but warn parents that younger children may be disturbed by some of the scarier parts.
Rating: Summary: Well written! But subtly charming... Review: This book is typical of the other Harry Potter episodes I've read. Although, I am beginning to realize something about them. I have to say the Goblet of Fire is well written, I couldn't put it down... But this doesn't shone out a few facts. These books by JK Rowling, are depicting scenarious of using magic, spells, incantations and the like, and turning them into seeming like it is fun, or some sort of game. I've been open to actual practices of the like, and I can tell you it is no game, in fact it is quite dangerous. And JK Rowling is poisoning young minds into believing it is something good. No matter how the magic may help Harry Potter, what kind of morals are you wanting your children to learn, when they begin thinking can get anything they want through magic? There are better ways of excersizing a child's imagination. I won't discredit JK Rowling for her gift for writing... she has made interesting adventures, I enjoy reading them. I feel it is only safe for one to read as long as one is aware of the truth inbetween the lines of text. This is not something I'd want my little brothers and sister reading without first learning about the truth of magic. As for the plot/storyline of the Goblet of Fire, I rank it a 4, for being well written. But I think book 2 and 3 were slightly better. To each their own.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter continues to amaze Review: I've heard that sales of this book constitute the single largest online transaction in history, and I can believe it. Goblet of Fire is much longer than the previous installments in the series, but there's not a wasted word in it. Ms. Rowling teases her readers with tantalizing hints of you-know-who in the first chapter, then veers off to focus on Harry and company as they watch the Quiddich World Cup, flee an angry mob of masked wizards, and begin their fourth year at Hogwarts, where they face new challenges: competing in tournaments, facing students from foreign schools, and choosing a date for the formal dance. There are many surprises that I won't spoil for you, but the book unfolds in its usual, not-at-all-usual way, and the conclusion is a surprise worth waiting for.
Rating: Summary: JK ROwlings has done it again! Review: My sons and I eagerly anticipated "Goblet of Fire", and I was certainly not disappointed! Thanks to Amazon.com's speedy delivery, I spent a better part of 18 hours reading this wonderful tale. Harry is better than ever, now that he understands his powers better, and all of the characters are becoming much more 3-dimensional-including evil Lord Valdemort! All of the friends of Harry are back-Ron,Hermione, the kindly Mrs. Weasley. The first chapter is rather intense, but sets the mood for the entire book, and prepares you for what is to come. As usual, you are not sure whom Harry should trust at all-and even the end leaves you guessing. I cannot wait to read it out loud to my youngest, but told my older one that he has to finish "Prisoner of Azkaban" before he starts "Goblet of Fire"-he plans to do so immediately. Now, we have to sit back and patiently wait for Book 5!
Rating: Summary: 600 pages of fun and magic Review: I think Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire holds up the tradition of greatness. The fact that there are so many characters from previous books makes reading it more fun. Also because the first chapter holds an air of mystery it is impossible to put the book down once you start. Even if it has over six hundred pages it only seems to have just over a hundred. But in those pages happiness, confidence and saddness all collide to bring about a truely amazing ending.
Rating: Summary: Nice and Exciting! Review: The new book is better than before. Though 2 times thicker than the last book, it is very easy to understand.
Rating: Summary: WOW! Review: I finished this book in just a day! it's incredible! I can hardly wait for the next one! I recommend Harry Potter to all muggles: young or old! :)
Rating: Summary: The magic continues... Review: The magic continues in J.K. Rowlings wonderful series. I finished the book in two evenings, (despite it's length) and I continue to be enchanted with the series. Rowling has done a wonderful job continuing the traditions of whimsy and terror she has established in previous books, and I'm already looking forward to her next book. Fans of Harry Potter should purchase this immediately, you won't be dissapointed.
Rating: Summary: As excellent as expected Review: Using the wonder that is Amazon, I managed to receive the new Harry Potter early yesterday, and using my Special Reading Techniques(TM) I managed to read the whole thing in around ten hours. As it is the size of a small brick, it wasn't easy. The rumours say that Harry falls in love, and someone dies. And Rowling seems to know that everybody knows this, cruelly making several people look like the candidates for this.Harry goes to the Quidditch World Cup, and things go a little wrong there. Meanwhile Hermione tries to claim equal rights for house elves, several characters from previous books reappear, and Voldemort.. well, that would be telling. But read it, unless you can sleep at night not knowing how Hermione deals with pesky tabloid reporters.
Rating: Summary: Absorbing storyteller strikes again! Review: The fourth Harry Potter adventure starts off a bit slowly (and at 752 pages, the whole books could use a bit of editing), but the story, once it starts, was gripping enough that I read the whole book in a day. New characters are introduced, the clever plot twists continue, and some of the ongoing characters develop interesting depths. I don't want to say any more for fear of giving the plot away, except that I'm waiting for Harry Potter 5 <g>.
