Rating: Summary: This is definitely the best book ever! Review: "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" is definitely the best book I've ever read. Once I started reading it, I couldn't stop.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter wins again Review: Harry Potter and his friends score again in their quest for wizardry and justice. Rowling's wonderfully rich characters span the generations of her readers and create believeable, well-developed inhabitants of her world. In this book we see a much more mature Harry and witness the delight and horror of a teenager coming of age.The plot holds together well for a 700+ page book and ought to keep even the most cynical Muggle reader enchanted by it.
Rating: Summary: brief review Review: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was a great read. Although it was near 800 pages, the book was hard to put down for even a minute. Rowlings has put out another book that children and adults will both enjoy and share. This time, as always, Harry Potter's adventure was very entertaining and the Rowlings was able to include many sub-plots that were equally interesting. The new book has only improved on the Potter series, and though it may answer new questions about what Harry Potter can accomplish as a wizard it also brings new mysteries to think about. Who are his real friends? Who is the enemy? Will he and his frinds escape once again unharmed? Will they ever find a Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher? Adults will enjoy this book, as they have the first three. Children will enjoy the book as well, although sometimes I wonder if they will become frightened at some themes, especially younger children with the theme of death. However, I do not find the book inappropriate in any capacity, and even themes of death and hatred can be handled by young children as long as thier parents supervise. I recommend this book to anyone with and imagination, and cannot wait until Book 5.
Rating: Summary: typos typos typos Review: don't get me wrong,i love the harry pottter series but the fourth book is the exception.the story and plot are great but while reading the book i found parts of it that i already read being put later back in the book instead of the correct chapters.i give this book -5 stars.
Rating: Summary: It's really long... Review: Well. The expectations for this book are almost unreal. Regardless, I just didn't like it as much as the first 3. I think my problem lies in the pacing of the book. It's just sooo long. And while, the book needed to be that long to set up all the plot intricacies that makes Rowling's book so enjoyable, the book's length keeps pushing the reader's expectations higher and higher. It took 200 pages for the book to really get going, and 500 (yes 500 pages) for it to begin to reach the level of intensity that made Harry Potter 3 so incredible. It's difficult to continue to write books that are always in the same time frame (one school year) and Rowling tries to play with that, but the effect is more disarming then anything else. You want Harry to get to Hogwarts already! (not take 200-odd pages to get there). The last 200 pages are excellent, albeit dark. (i almost cried 3 times) It just took awhile to get into.
Rating: Summary: "Harry Potter" Definitely Not Over-Hyped! Review: I looked forward as much as anyone else in the world (approx. 1.5 million people) to the latest installment in Harry Potter's adventures--prepared, as an adult and a connoiseur of children's books, to find that the 4th book wouldn't be as exciting or breath-taking as the first three, and especially the 3rd. Was I wrong! From the first chapter of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, JK Rowling proves that she is nothing short of excellent. The book is full of great humor, the complexities of friendship, amazing magic, and keep-you-up-at-night action and suspense. The Quidditch World Cup is only the beginning. Who could have thought that anything could be more exciting than Quidditch? But there is--and the goblet of fire is just the starting point. JK Rowling also pulls no punches. She has previously said that she wanted to prove once and for all the evil that Voldemort is with this book, and she does so with events so horrific that parents of younger fans may need to guide their kids through the book. But I am grateful that she doesn't pull punches. Details and events from the first three books are woven brilliantly together. Harry's world definitely became even more real, and he, Ron, Hermione, Dumbledore and other characters we've come to love do as well, and readers will be drawn with their full empathy into wizard life. The mania surrounding Harry Potter isn't simple marketing hype--it's the genuine enthusiasm of readers who have fallen in love with a very believable world and with very believable people. Now, I just don't know how long I can wait for book 5...the Goblet of Fire left me anxious, thrilled, but 100% satisfied.
Rating: Summary: Wicked Great book Review: This book was the best yet. If you haven't read the first three you should read those first.
Rating: Summary: With Harry Potter, we all win Review: If you've know Harry Potter already, you don't need me to tell you what to read. You're reading this review to hear a friendly voice say "You aren't alone! Harry Potter is fun, and it's okay to admit it!" I write to you (and also to the uninitiated, pale your life has been until now) -- Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire does not disappoint. Rowling's vibrant imagination conjures up more creatures, more schemes and surprises, and also more evil, to tempt us to dream, once again, that we had more magic in our lives.
Rating: Summary: NOT "Just For Kids" Review: Ladies and Gentlemen, this book is definitely not just for kids. The darkest book in the series yet, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire will enchant you and draw you in. We see Harry at fourteen, becoming more and more mature and getting drawn in further and further by forces he cannot control. Forced to participate in a wizard tournament which many believe he is incapable of, Harry overcomes new obstacles with the help of his friends, old and new. But this time, Harry has a new enemy, close to him, who will not rest until he is dead. This book does not leave you with the emotional high the previous three did. It has a "happy ending," but the negative developments outweigh the positives and leave you with a keen sense of foreboding and a thirst for more. J.K. Rowling writes to your emotions and leaves you feeling as though you have been struck in the chest with a 734 page book. Only the most talented of authors can direct your feelings with their words, and Ms. Rowling is to be counted among the greats. Keep up the excellent work.
Rating: Summary: Worth the Wait! Review: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire should the best children's book of all time! It is awesome. Readers beware, you'll be reading for a long time!
