Rating: Summary: Harry Potter Book 4-AWESOME Review: I consider "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" definately the best "Harry Potter" book that has yet been published. If you read and liked the other "Harry Potter" books, reading this book is a must. Though it may seem to start off a bit slow, it is just building up to the sky-rocket at the end of the book. If you didn't stay up till midnight the morning of the 8th of July to buy this book, DON'T MAKE THAT MISTAKE AGAIN!
Rating: Summary: A Decent Story About Wizards Review: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is a book that will succeed regardless of its quality. Hence writing a review for it is fundementally a futile task. And that is OK. This is fundamentally a nice, solid, engaging, and very cute adventure and mystery story sat in a very pleasant millieu. It manages the restrictions of a semi-mystery quite well, and ends in a unexpected but very reasonable way. There is nothing horribly wrong with this book. The characters are with few exceptions quite endearing, and the writing style is quite entertaining. When it comes down to it, I quite liked the book. Not that it lacked faults. In my humble opinion cute little entertaining books like this should be fairly short, unlike this 750 page tome. And so many of these pages could easily be shed. There is a fairly long subplot about an anti-slavery campaign which is almost completely superfluous, and is only resolved in a very uncomfortable way (they LIKE to be slaves). Take out this and a love interest done with a very heavy hand and you are down to a reasonably sized 500 page book. And I get the feeling that this book would not work well without reading the first three novels in the series. There are plenty of unexpected references to things magical which are explained in previous volumes. However those who have read the previous books might struggle with how formulaic they really are. The plot line "Someone is trying to kill Harry, who is it?" Is getting a bit tiresome, and while characters from previous novels do retain their charm, newer additions seem dry and lifeless. It is possible that this book wrings the last life out of Harry Potter, but personally, I prefer to think the originality present in the first will reappear in the next sequel.
Rating: Summary: Bigger is Better Review: Yesterday morning, July 8, I went to my local bookseller and snatched up the second to last copy of "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire." I immediately began reading it then, and would have read it straight through, had not other circumstances intervened. I did finish it last night, and in my opinion, this is the best book in the series yet. Harry is more grown up (he's even interested in girls!) and his challenges are growing steadily stronger. Add to this the Quidditch World Cup, two new wizarding schools: Durmstrang and Beauxbatons (whose headmistress, Madame Maxime, is as big as Hagrid!), and a large dose of Voldemort, and you have one of the best books you'll read all year!P.S. Dobby is back!
Rating: Summary: I couldn't put it down! Review: I had anticipated the release of this book ever since I had started the Harry Potter series. This time, Harry does not struggle as much with the Dursleys, as he is only there for two weeks. He spends the rest of the summer with the Weasleys, who take him and Hermione to the Quidditch final, Bulgaria vs. Ireland. After the tournament, a dark sign is seen in the sky. It is the sign of the Dark Lord, Lord Voldemort. There is much worry about you-know-who coming back to power. As Harry arrives at Hogwarts, there is the disappointing news that there will no house quidditch games. Instead, Hogwarts will be hosting the Triwizard Tournament and two foreign wizarding schools will be coming to Hogwarts to take part. There has not been one for a hundred years, because of contestants being killed. Students age 17 and over are to submit their names to the Goblet of Fire, and that will choose the three contestants, one from each school. As the three chosen contestants march off, the goblet shoots another name from its mouth, "Harry Potter". Everyone was astonished, because Harry would not have been able to get past the age barrier the headmaster put around the goblet to keep younger students out. Harry himself did not submit his name and he did not ask anyone to. In the book, you re-meet many characters, including Moaning Myrtle, Dobby the House Elf, and Charlie Weasley. One warning, in the beginning, there are many new characters to keep track of, so pay attention!
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Review: This book was great! It is a very long book, but it is exciting the whole way through. I've only had it 36 hours and I finished it - and I'm only eleven. The plot grabs you right away and keeps you in the book. Whenever you need to get up and stop reading you feel the need to complain because "I'm in a very important part!". Great book for all ages. It's very exciting. The best Harry Potter book so far. J. K. Rowling comes up with the most interesting creatures that no one has even dreamed of. And some of her spells are much different than what you would expect. Harry along with his friends, Ron and Hermione, go through really dangerous and breathtaking adventures. I recommend this book to anyone that likes adventure books or mysterious magical things.
Rating: Summary: Great book, great news. Review: I am an English Education undergrad, and have just started my jouney into the wonderful work of J.K. Rowling. I found her new story to be extremely rich with language, and dense plot; two major ingredients in any great story. Furthermore, I love the impact this series has on the younger/new generation of literature. Maybe we'll be able to finally get away from the MTV generation after all.
Rating: Summary: The best one yet Review: The fourth book is, in my opion, the best of the series. It offers action galore, a little bit of mystery, comedy, romance, and a chilling ending. It is everything the first three books were and so much more. A definate must read.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire... Review: ...I think was very, very, very exciting! You couldn't predict what would happen next! Harry has a girlfriend! Someone dies! I found the new Harry Potter especially interesting because it doesn't start with Harry. My only complaint it that the next one can't come soon enough!
Rating: Summary: I found this book kind of interesting Review: I just watched an interview of J.K. Rowling, the author of Harry Potter. I can't believe this shy woman wrote the series books of Harry Potter, a boy's advanture. The book is imaginative. Well, I must be exciting if I were 10 years old or less.
