Rating: Summary: Almost as good as the hype ... Review: ... and if I don't give it five stars, it's mostly for that reason. My Amazon copy arrived at 1:30 pm, and I finsihed reading at 1 am, having forgotten to stop for dinner until I had been reading for eight hours straight. If the previous books hypnotized you as they did me, be sure you have nothing on your schedule at the point you pick this one up! And yet, of course, it's not as good as the hype, but how could it be? The character who gets killed isn't quite as significant as many had thought. All the previous Potters had plotholes but this one's holes were major enough that I noticed them *before* I finished reading ... That being the case, so what? If you're going to be subjected to the kind of crazed hype that Potter is attracting, at least let it be for books as well-written as these.
Rating: Summary: Wish I wasn't a Muggle Review: I got my copy yesterday morning and stayed up all night reading it. It is very intense for younger kids but I HIGHLY recommend it for ten years old and above. It has everything the previous three have but the "Goblet" has a cliff-hanger. I cannot wait for Harry's next year at Hogwarths.
Rating: Summary: This is a great book! Review: Harry Potter is in his 4th year at Hogwarts, a school for witches and wizards. However, he is called to be in a "Triwizard" tournament when contestents are supposed to be in their 6th or 7th year. That is only one of the mysterious things that happens to Harry. This volume compared to the previous 3 volumes is longer and more interesting as Harry grows older.
Rating: Summary: Harry lives up to the hype- and more Review: I admit, I was a bit worried. With all the buildup and hype and so forth for the release of the 4th installment in the Harry Potter series I dreaded that the book wouldn't measure up, that all the excitement would be for nothing. But the brilliant J.K. Rowling has done it again- with a book, that, in my opinion, is the best in the series so far. In this book, Harry sees the Quidditch World Cup, discovers girls, is entered in a sort of spell duel, meets some new friends and foes, becomes farther and then closer to his friend Ron, and once again has a brush with, well, You-Know-Who.... but I won't give it all away. After hungrily devouring over 700 pages of glorious fiction in about 4 hours, I was left with a grin on my face, a feeling of triumph for Harry, and a pang that told me the book was over; and that, alas, I would have to wait a while for the sequel... Thank you J.K. Rowling! What a wonderful, magical phenomenon you have created.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Review: I give "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" an "A++++++" On a scale of one to ten I give it a 50. I couldn't put it down. I started the book at noon July 8th and finished it the next morning by 10:00 AM. Definitely better than the other books. Morgan age 10
Rating: Summary: It's about time.. but well worth the wait... BRILLIANT! Review: To quote an advertisement I heard somewhere: "you can't improve on perfection. But you can equal it." So it is with Harry Potter. It is surely the greatest series I've ever read, and number four, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, is well up to standards. It was brilliant, as were the other three, and I've been dying to get my hands on it ever since I finished H.P. and the prisoner of Azkaban. I find that the series is maturing along with me, and it's great to be growing with Harry- I've also just finished the fourth form, so I feel like I know him much better than Nancy Drew, for example, who's been eighteen since my mother was reading the books! I won't reveal the plot.. I once read a book review somewhere that told me the end of the second book, and I was maaaaaad...but I'll tell you this- if for some reason you haven't ordered the latest installment, then ORDER IT NOW!
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Review: The best so far in the Harry Potter series! This book has everything that made the other three books so great and more, much more. J.K. Rowling is at her best in this book. It has danger, action, suspense, adventure, and even a little romance. I don't want to spoil the suprise, but something happens at the end of the story that involves Harry, Vodemort, and someone you will remember from the last book. This is a book no one should miss!
Rating: Summary: Could'nt Put It Down Review: Recieved the book at 8am yesterday morning(thanks Amazon) and read it every chance I got. It almost lives up to the hype but and here's a big but it's much darker and sinister than the previous three. If you have read Harry Potter to your children you may want to read it first(good excuse or what!). I'm not talking about Stephen King dark but it's something to be aware of. Anyway Enjoy it. I did!
Rating: Summary: The best one yet! Review: I purchased this book at nine a.m. on July 8 and read it nonstop until I finished at 7 p.m. This is, by far, the best of the Harry Potter books. It certainly has a more developed, mature voice to it than the others, but its' magical, charming tone is as wonderful as the first three books. Harry's fourth year at Hogwarts brings all kinds of new adventures as he is chosen to represent his school in a Triwizard competition, pitting him in dangerous tasks against champions from two other wizarding schools. Despite its' great length, the story never feels overlong, and the plot is fresh and engaging. All the great old characters are back, plus some good new ones- we finally are introduced to Bill and Charlie Weasley! And if you think the first three books were exciting, this one is simply dripping with suspense. I think Harry's older, more mature fans will find this to be the most pleasing Harry adventure to date, due to its' intense themes and newly introduced hormones between the Hogwarts students. With traces of violence, romance and tragedy, this book will defenitly appeal to Harry Potter fans young and old, but I think the readers like me, around Harry's age of fourteen, will sink into it the most. Don't miss this one- get your hand on it as quickly as you can!
Rating: Summary: Great Characters Review: We really like how JK Rowling is able to go into depth with her characters without boring us. Each character seems to get more interesting, if that seems possible. We especially like the personality differences-problems between Harry, Ron and Hermione. They seem so real. We won't give away the plot but everybody's loyalties get exposed! This books sets up the plots for the next 3 books, too - when do they come out? We are 13 and 12 years old and finished the book the first day!
