Rating: Summary: WOW! Review: I got the book from Amazon at around 2:00 PM and finished at 1:18 am that next morning, my first thoughts after reading the book (other than sleepiness) were, "I LOVED IT!" and "OMG OMG OMG!" repeated several times in my head. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is most certainly the best book of the series and is a bit of a cliff-hanger as well. The suspense, betrayal, danger, death and even a bit of love all put together made this book the best I have read in a long time. In this book we see a return of the fact that Harry and Voldemort's wands are from the same pheonix and we find out the pheonix's name. Sirus Black and Crookshanks make a return as well as Wormtail. I recommend this book to all who have not bought it yet as it is truly a classic. Kudos to J. K. Rowling on her superb work...hurry up on the next book please!
Rating: Summary: The best book of the series...so far... Review: Being an avid fan of the notorious Harry Potter books, I sat up most of yesterday devouring Our Hero's latest foray into the world of Muggles, magic, and mayhem. And to my delight, J.K. Rowling has once again outdone herself. The book is a gem: it's funny, it's sad, it's wonderful, it's (dare I type it?) magical.Considering the enormous publicity surrounding the publication of this book, the fourth of an anticipated seven book series, I was a bit worried that the book might fall short of its incredible build-up. Never fear, though, because "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" is the best book of the series to date. True, its length may seem a bit off-putting, but it moves briskly and the plot doesn't get as tangled and bogged down as parts of the third book did. The focus of the plot has shifted, too. No longer relegated to being mere character-establishing details, the friendship and increasingly tricky relationships between Hermione, Ron, and Harry have become central parts of the book. They and their Hogwarts classmates are growing up, and the tone of the book reflects this shift in its emphasis on interpersonal relationships that are given every bit as much weight in the story as the characters' usual hijinks. Press reports were correct in stating that this book is the turning point in the series; the end of the novel sets the stage for the coming battle between good and evil, but does it without sacrificing some of the characters' more ambiguous motives and choices. And yes, a character does die- but never, I think, will the appeal of these terrific books. Brava, Ms. Rowling! Long live Harry Potter, the boy who lived!
Rating: Summary: This is a great book! Review: The latest installment in the Harry Potter series is a fantastic book. Ms. Rowling weaves a complex plot which leaves you guessing to the very end of the story. The Goblet of Fire is much darker and scarier than the first three books. Voldemort has a large part in this book, where he trying to regain power. And for all the Quidditch fans, the only Quidditch played in this game is the Quidditch World Cup(Ireland vs. Bulgaria)! However, there is something equally exciting to replace it.Don't miss the Goblet of Fire!
Rating: Summary: Thank You! J. K. Rowling Review: After months of anticipation, Harry Potter Day arrived. Like the past 3 books, I could not put this one down. From the opening page- to the final word, I was entranced. Every chapter brought a new twist and turn for Harry and his friends. "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" answered many questions that I had (from past books), and left me with new ones. It made me laugh and made me cry. This is definately a book (series) for all ages.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and The Goblet of fire Review: This is by far the best potter book yet! It was a real page turner! I Read it in less than 6 hours yesterday (the release date). out of all the books it reads the most like an adult piece of writing. There is only one problem, and that is that it is over much too quickly even though it is the longest book!
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter Review: This book was really good! I got it at midnight on Friday, and was done by midnight on Saturday! In "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" Harry, Ron and Hermione go to the World Cup and see the triwizard tournament. This book is my favorite in now the four Harry Potter books! If you haven't read the others, read them and this one too!
Rating: Summary: Rowling does it again! Review: J.K. Rowling has written a thrilling and involving new Harry Potter book. I started reading the moment it arrived and could hardly bare to put it down until I had finished it. It is the longest of all the Harry Potter books so far, but the plot is much more involved and for the first time, a Harry Potter book does not end on a happy note. It has all the wonderful magical elements of the first three Harry Potter books that made them so engrossing, plus more emotional drama than I have ever seen in a Harry Potter book. I laughed and I cried. This book had a deeper effect on me than any previous Harry Potter book. My first thought upon finishing the novel was...how will I survive until the 5th book is released!
Rating: Summary: a worthy successor to the first three Review: Book 4 was awesome! I stayed up for most of Saturday night reading it, and just finished it this morning. I didn't want to stop, but I also didn't want it to end. Now, I'm sort of sad that it's over. What can I say? Rowling was right on with this one, as she was with the other three. Most of the rumors I heard were true--the Quidditch World Cup does happen, for example, and Harry starts to see girls in a whole new light. The story does get a bit soap-y at times, but it's not bad. I won't ruin the other surprises for those who haven't finished it yet. I will say that I am sooo amazed that Rowling (and her readers) can keep track of such a complicated story. Each book gets a little darker, adds more characters, has more threads to tie together. But the characters also become more three-dimensional, the danger a little more real. Maybe that's why people are so drawn to it. Me, I can't wait to find out what happens in Book 5.
Rating: Summary: A Darker Turn for Harry(WARNING contains spoilers of ending) Review: Rowling has surpassed herself with Harry Potter Four. The plot was ingenious, however, I was left with a feeling of despair at the end of the book. I was looking forward to more adventure and ended up distressed about where the series was going. I hope that the foreboding mood at the end will be resolved.
Rating: Summary: A lot darker than the other books. Review: The First day I got this book, I read 576 pages. I liked it(I finished it this morning), but it was very different compared to the other Harry Potter books. There were many more characters, and of explainations about things that happened before. It was a lot darker, and I will miss the character who died. I gave it 4 stars because it was harder to understand.
