Rating: Summary: Amazing Review: Within this "Harry Potter" there is much more than you may ever imagine. J.K.Rowling had given it so many details that you can't stop reading. Amazing as all the Harry Potter series, the Globet of Fire is much more surprising. I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: PG 13 Rollercoaster Ride To Remember Review: Don't let the length of this book intimidate you; the adventure it will take you on is well worth the long read. But Muggles (non-magic people for you laymen) beware, this book is definitely PG 13. If you are concerned about your children reading something you may not deem appropriate, please read it yourself before you hand it over to the kids. This is a great book, which captures the imagination and takes it on a rollercoaster ride to remember.
Rating: Summary: It really should have been give 6 stars. Review: Has anyone read a more incredible book/series? As an eighteen year old, I will admit I love these books! Morally, there is nothing wrong with Harry Potter...how can there be when the basis of why Harry is alive is LOVE??? Would some, well-to-do Christian explain this for me? It truly upsets me that those who are so against Harry Potter have not read the series, nor can many of them spell J.K. Rowling's name CORRECTLY. In any case, yes this book is darker then the others and yes, someone dies. For those of you who do not like the fact that there is death, what are you going to do when your child's grandparent dies? Not tell them? Please, death is a normal part of life and a child SHOULD be exposed to death at an early age. It is only right; your child will understand. As a Christian, I especially am surprised with adults who say that HP is "evil and dark"...it isn't HP that is, but the dark force (gee, doesn't this sound like Star Wars???). Good ALWAYS wins over evil. What is wrong with that? In my opinion, and this of course is left up to interpretation, there are even allegorical themes in this book. There is nothing wrong with this book, or series. I strongly urge any critic to read these books. You'll love them, I promise. And even if you do not, then fine, at least you've given these wonderful books a chance. Ps. Does anyone else see anything "brewing" between Ron and Hermoine???
Rating: Summary: He Still Has The Magic! Review: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is the best book in the series yet! I could not put this book down! It was full of action and suspense, like all of its predecessors. It's my favorite yet, but only until the fifth comes out. ^_~I strongly recommend this book to anyone at any age level! It's just that great! ^_^ Buy buy buy!
Rating: Summary: The Book I dont like Review: it had excellent detail but i still didnt like it at all
Rating: Summary: To the Mad Mamas and religious fanatics Review: I lived all 734 pages of this masterpiece of a series! The series will live on, and its thwarters shall be....thwarted back! The books are indeed getting much darker. Malfoy is getting progressively more insane. The evil plots are getting weirder and more dangerous. There is less comic relief and fantasy. Well there's a reason for that. In the beginning of the series, the kids were young, naive, and new. The books were lighthearted, charming, and fantasitical. As they grow older, just as in real life, the fantasy and naivete fades out, and more serious issues take hold. It can't be helped. It's just the way things go. I think the books are trying to express that. I've heard a lot of complaints about this series. About its 'moral flaws' for children, occult teaching, and blah blah blah. FEH! Remember also, that by this point in the series, the characters are in their late teens. At that age, all teens ever think about is breaking or bending the rules. "Oh and they never get punished!" Well would rather them be beaten? Maybe hanged or crucified or something? I suppose then the moral implications would come right back at you, wouldn't they? Bet you never considered that. Hey if they were expelled there'd be no story location, right? I think a night in the Dark Forest would be punishment enough for anyone who broke the rules.... "And it made my son jump off the roof with a broom!" ...your son is either stupid, or you're outwardly lying. Normal children just.... they just don't do that. Regardless of what they read. Kids that do that need real help. - the books are ALL GREAT. They rule!
Rating: Summary: BRILLIANT Review: AMAZING! WONDERFUL! ENCHANTING! I couldn't put this book down, not even to eat! Book four is filled with surprises, twists, and mysteries, although I wouldn't reccommend this one as the first Harry Potter book you read. Many mysteries will be solved, and you don't want to ruin the surprise! The characters that J.K. Rowling has so imaginatively described come to life off the pages. Moody, Crouch, Bagman, everyone! I also have a feeling that romance is in the air with Ron and Hermione. Book 4 also shows the growning up, teenage side of Harry, making him seem like a real, normal boy coping with real, normal problems (asking Cho to the dance, trying not to fail Potions, keep a friendship with Ron), and also alot of other not normal, everyday problems (Rita Skeeter defaming his character in "Daily Prophet", dodging a fire-breathing dragon, and facing the darkest wizard of all time: Lord Voldemort). All in all, I would say this is the best book in the Harry Potter series, and the best book I have ever laid my hands on. It's great. Read it (but only if you've read the first three already)!
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Review: A lot of my friends complained to me that the book is sooooo long but I said that the book is very good. J.K. Rowling made the book with different kinds of adventures and thrilling excitement. Well Harry has to start off at the Dursley's home. Then Ron's parents invited him to go to the World Cup of Quidditch. And Harry was soooo excited to go but his Uncle was not sure that Harry should go because then that means that Harry was going to have fun! But they let him go anyway. At the World Cup some very suspicious things happened while they were there. Then after that they were off to Hogwarts. During the middle of the year Dumbledore announces that the Triwizard is going to take place soon. Only kids in their 6th year can participate. But somehow Harry's name got put into the goblet and the goblet suddenly chose him to take part in the competition. The first task was with dragons. After the first task there was a ball. Hermione got asked out by Viktor Krum who is a famous quidditch player. Well Harry has some more work to do during his 4th year. The whole gang also suffers with a reporter that kept on writing fake information on them. She also does it out of her pleasure. He also meets up with his friend Dobby the house-elf. The book was excellent in my eyes. It just always made me want to read more. I couldn't put down the book sometimes. It is one of my favorite books and series.
Rating: Summary: Rowling does it again! Review: With this fourth installment of our young wizard friend, JK Rowling has done it right again. Ms Rowling whisks us back to Hogwart's for Harry's fourth year. But first, it is to the Quidditch World Cup with the Weasleys. There is no lack of excitement and adventure taking place at every turn. Soon, Harry learns that he is to compete in the Tri-Wizard tournament to be held at Hogwarts. His opponents come from wizarding schools around the world. But, of course, Harry faces challenges and tribulations unexpected from the start. We watch as Harry and his friends, Ron and Hermione face challenges with bravery and class. This is yet another story with a wonderful basis in morality. JK Rowling has a talent for creating captivating tales and full, multi-dimensional characters. Even as the characters progress in age, she manages to make them more real, experiencing situations applicable both to the real world and that of the wizards. This is definitely worth the read, you won't even notice its length! 14 Nov 2002
Rating: Summary: The best in a series that continues to mature Review: What can I say that everyone else hasn't. At first, the length made me shudder. I wanted a very, very light read, and this was almost twice the size of the previous book. However, this book was the best by far of this series. The other books consisted of mostly descriptions of Hogwarts. The length of this book allows Rowling to delve into characters and dialogue that is thoroughly enjoyable and gripping. A great kids story that an adult can enjoy.
