Summary: Great but Scary
Review: I have read all the Harry Potter books and LOVED them all. This one was excellent too. It is much longer than the 1st, 2end ,and 3rd but you have to read it. It was a little creepy and I suggest that you be at least 10 years old before you read it, but it is clearly written for a sort of younger audience. I can't wait for more by the best- J.K.Rowling

Summary: The Best Harry Potter Yet
Review: Longer (734 pages), darker ..., full of intrigue and suspense, this page turner is the best Harry Potter yet. JK Rowling's interlaced world of wizards and muggles (the rest of us, for those not yet initiated) grows along with the main character - Harry Potter - the now fourteen year old wizard-in-training at Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardy. All the supporting cast of characters is back - his best friend Ron Weasley and his large family, his friend (not girlfriend) Hermione, Headmaster Dumbledore and the teachers, students and other entities at Hogwarts (both good and bad). And, of course, the evil Voldemort (He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named) is back. New characters include various members of the Ministry of Magic, another new Hogwarts teacher of Defense Against the Dark Arts and the students and their headmaster and headmistress of two Continental wizardry schools, who compete against Hogwarts in the Triwizard Tournament and add a bit of romance to the Hogwarts scene. There are some revelations about the history and origins of known characters and new plot twists and turns that mix seamlessly with the fun of the familiar world already present in the previous three books. The first chapter is ominous and foreboding, not to be taken lightly or read alone at midnight - particularly not by preteens. The book opens with "The Riddle House" and ends with "The Beginning." And a beginning it is, there are three more Harry Potter books to come. This book is both an introduction and a setup for what is to come, but, like it predecessors, it is satisfying by itself.

Could a reader jump in to this book without reading the first three? Maybe, I read the last three books a year ago, but I believe, JK Rowling does a masterful job of reintroducing the important facts contained in the previous three books without either slowing the action or losing the reader's interest. For those who have read Tolkien, consider the first three books akin to "The Hobbit," and this volume the first book in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. The Hobbit is not necessary to "The Lord of the Rings," but why miss the fun?

Should this book be read by some of the very young readers who have enjoyed the previous Harry Potter books? Anecdotally, as a child of eight, I saw the Walt Disney movie "Old Yeller," and was very disturbed by the tragic ending. I can't watch that movie to this day. Had I read, or had read to me, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" at that age, I might well have had nightmares. Let each parent judge for his or her own child.

To anyone else, child or adult alike, I most highly recommend this book.

Summary: Adults Like Harry Potter Too
Review: I am an adult who loves the Harry Potter series. It is well written and the story is appropriate for all ages. Goblet of Fire is the best one yet. Harry is growing up and the book reflects the confusing time of adolescence while still entering us into the special world of Hogwarts.

Summary: ...even better than the first three!
Review: WOW! If you aren't already reading _The Goblet of Fire_ then please READ THIS! This book, although a lengthy 734 pages, is so exciting, well-written, hilarious, and even scary (at times), that I was quite impressed. I had thought that this fourth book would be somewhat of a let-down compared to the other three, but I couldn't have been more WRONG! I bought it at 11:00 am on Saturday, and finished it at 12:25 pm on Sunday! That's how riveting this book is. I won't give away important plot secrets, but I will say this: the ending was definitely an unexpected twist. Oh, and another thing---someone, a prominent character in this book, does die in the end...you have to read it to find out who it is! That's all I'm saying. ---P.S. Don't be intimidated by the amount of pages! I'ts the content that counts!

Summary: The best so far!
Review: If you've never read any of the Harry Potter books start at the beginning with "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone". If you are a friend of Harry's already this book will be a wonderful delight for you. About three times as large as the first volume, this fourth installment to the trilogy is by far the best. Rich in detail and laying the groundwork for the next book wonderfully. Close readers of the series might have become concerned that the second and third books were a little too alike. This is not the case here, this book stands out among the three in it's pacing, detail and cleverness. I highly recommend anyone unfamiliar with Harry Potter, his classmates, teachers, rivals and enemies start reading the series immediately and for those who already have, grab this one right away! Author J.K. Rowling has really raised the bar for herself, but fortunately it looks like she is up to the task.

Summary: A Muggle Thought on Harry
Review: Rowling just gets better and better. I have read the first three books and the Goblet of Fire's storyline is more complex and exciting than the others. It is somewhat daunting to read all 700+ pages of this new book, especially for kids, but it's definitely worth it.

Summary: An Excellent Addition To The Potter Library
Review: Alright, I admit it. I was there. I was one of the Potterphiles in line outside Barnes and Noble when it stayed open until midnight to admit many other fans of J.K. Rowling's best-selling series. I was one of the first in line. I almost cried when I got the book, I was decked out in scar and glasses. Then I took the book home to read.

Now, Goblet of Fire is the most fun to read aloud, as I did to my younger sister (and one of my friends, whether she'll admit it or not!). I can't exactly talk right now, since I've been switching from the deep, growling Professor Moody to the liltingly French Fleur Delacour and the harsh, Bulgarian Viktor Krum.

But did I mention it's entirely enjoyable?

Now for the book. It's hilarious! A bit mature, yes, but I mean, stick Ron and Harry in a school dance and you've got the funniest chapter of the book. Ah, those bits were priceless. Not to mention the delightful humor...once again, what's this book rated? ;) I loved every second of it. I was falling off my bed.

There really is no point to this review. The end of the book both disappointed and enthused me; I didn't like the whole bit with Professor Moody. He was so COOL. Ooh, but the last few chapters had me biting my nails to the quick, scarcely able to read...and I can't wait for the next installment. With the promise of Professor Lupin (yay!) and a league against Voldemort, who...alright, I'll say no more if you're wasting time here and haven't read the book...

I didn't give this book the last star because I didn't really connect with the newer characters as much as I did in the last three. That isn't too say it's not FANTASTIC! A nine out of ten, but I couldn't bring myself to tack that last little celestial counterpart on there. Sorry, folks. I was drooling, but I didn't really find myself hating Crouch, or liking Bagman, or whatever. Karkaroff was distant. If you haven't read the book, just ignore me.

Only 364 days until Book Five! I think I'm off to read Goblet of Fire again! J.K. Rowling is a goddess!
