Summary: Great Book
Review: Warning: Don't read this if you don't want part of the book spoiled. If you liked the first three Harry Potters, this one is even better in my opinion. You get to meet people from other magical schools, see the rebirth of Voldemort, meet Sirius Black again, see the Quidditch World Cup, and finally see a duel between Voldemort and Harry himself. One can already tell that it is this all important 4th book that lays the ground work for the rest of the series. The book is preparing the reader for the ultimate battle that is on the verge of coming. This is kind of like in J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings between The Two Towers and The Return of the King. Rowling, similar to her other books, is able to keep you looking in the another direction and then at the end is able to trick you into another surprise ending. This book, like Rowling has said, is definitely a much darker book, however, it is still worth the read. My advice: try not to read it too quickly because the 5th won't be coming for about another year (so i hear) and the first read is always the best. Savor every moment of this great book.

Summary: Awesome!
Review: Rowling has done it again! Harry Potter's adventures keep this 20-year old turning the pages with anticipation. Can't wait for the next installment!

Summary: Rowlings has done it again!
Review: True to her word, J.K. Rowlings did indeed make this a darker book. The Goblet of Fire pulls you along from the beginning but with a more sinister undertone than before. Towards the end is quite gruesome; enough so that children younger that 10 probably shouldn't read it. All in all, though, I thoroughly enjoyed the book as I have done the previous three. My children and I all fought over who got to read it first - we all won so at one time, there were three bookmarks in the book.

Summary: And now for the full review...
Review: This volume opens with a Quidditch championship and then goes into year four at Hogwarts for Harry, Ron and Hermione. (One thing I really like in IV is we learn how to pronounce Hermione, her-MY-oh-nee). Year IV has the usual plotting and mayhem involving dark wizards, as well as some romantic intrigues for all of the major characters, a compelling wizarding contest, and some hilarious sublots involving a scandal-sheet journalist named Rita Skeeter, a revelation abour Hagrid, some political agitation on the part of Hermione, and a business venture of Fred and George.

I can't imagine any fan really needs to consult these user reviews, wondering if she or he will go ahead an buy it, but I'm pleased to report that this one is not only not disappointing, but the best yet.

Harry Potter IV is a major achievement for children's books. For a 750-page, darkly themed book where a major character dies to be so tremendously successful might open the minds of publishers and encourage writers to explore possibilities instead of following patterns.

For years children's books have been fitting narrower and narrower niches: one-sit reads and simple sentence structure everyone thought made a book more salable, and an unbearable lightness except in "problem novels."

J.K. assumes kids have the interest and attention span to handle longish books with dry humor and dark themes; even books about a complex imaginary world with a specialized vocabulary and an ornate set of rules. She also assumes children won't be confused by real problems (like poverty and the death of parents) being combined with humor and fantasy.

Rowling is a great writer who knows how to execute a plotline and reveal characters through dialogue and action, but her greatest gift is her high regard for the intelligence of her readers. And kids are delighted to prove that she's right on the mark.

Summary: Waiting for Book 5
Review: I bought the book in London and read it on the plane back to Los Angeles. I think that children will really enjoy this next enstallment which deals with more mature themes and has an intricate plotline. Although much longer than the earlier books, J.K. Rowling managed to keep the pace at a nice clip and held my interest throughout the book.

Liberate the house-elfs!

Summary: Don't worry, it wasn't ....
Review: As I was waiting to pick up my copy at Midnight Friday, it occurred to me that a cruel jokester might walk away from the clerk, pretend to skim through the book and then shout out to the 300 or so Harry fans "My God! She killed off Hagrid!" or Ron or Hermione. As callous as it may seem, I don't think anyone will really care about the person that died. The victim was well chosen, as the name will certainly be used as a rallying call, like "Remember the Alamo" over the next several books, and there will certainly be implications for Harry's love life. Which brings up the biggest difference about this book, that is the introduction of sex. Not explicit sex, but multiple allusions to teenage passions, past and present. What with the routine treatment of gambling and office politics, the Goblet of Fire is by far the most mundanely adult of the series. To wrap up - the book starts out as less of a stand-alone than the others and feels off until the scene shifts back to Hogwarts. The last 150 pages or so are outstanding and merit prompt re-reading.

Summary: Simply Superb!
Review: This is my favorite book of the series so far. It is filled with action and suspense, but also has some comic relief. It is such and outstanding book that I wish I could give nore than 5 stars!

Summary: Excellent book for children as well as adults!
Review: Great storyline, the characters are well-developed, and in my opionion, this book is the least "scary" out of all the Harry Potter series. The play-by-play of the World Cup game in the book was a little boring and some of the words in the book were a little advanced for young readers. Overall, a must read and a great book!

Summary: Latest Harry Potter Book!
Review: This book was very dark, much darker and scarier than any of the other three. I would not recommend reading it to young children, especially before bed. It put much more emphasis on Voldemort's old supporters, the Death Eaters, than ever before. We find out who they were, with some surprises, and how some of them got out of going to Azkaban. Many find themselves in an awkward position when Voldemort is on the rise again. The first chapter is entirely focused on Voldemort and Harry is not metioned at all. Secondly, there were deaths in this book, one which is a student at Hogwarts. Through this book we come to better understand the situation before Voldemort's downfall, the terror, the chaos, and the uncertainty of not knowing who was on your side and who was really supporting the Dark Lord.

But despite, or perhaps because of that, this book is in my opinion the best in the series. It is certainly the longest at 700+ pages. There is lots of laughs, lots of andventure, and lots of hilarious attempts at romance. Its not too mushy though, don't worry. Its not all dark and scary though. Harry goes to the Quiddich World Cup with the Weasleys, he and Ron have an interesting time finding dates for the Yule Ball, He Ron and Hermione have happy times hanging out in the common room, and there's plenty of comic relief provided by Fred and George Weasley. There are lots of funny new characters too. An extremely paranoid new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, an annoyingly nosy Daily Prophet reporter, students from the other two school for Wizardry in Europe-Beaubaxtons and Durmstrang, and a World Cup Quidditch player in love with Hermione. I laughed out loud many times while reading this book.

No book is perfect and though these are great I have a few problems. First of all does everybody have a secret they never tell Harry? It always seems that he, and we are always the last to know. Why does Harry get everything? In this book he gets to be the second champion from Hogwarts and compete in the Triwizard Tournement. He wins everything and sometimes I just want him to lose for a change. For this reason I was actually rooting partialy for Cedric Diggory in the tournement. What is up with Viktor Krum suddenly being in love with Hermione. I don't understand it. Nothing against Hermione but she isn't breathlessly gorgeous. Viktor Krum is about eighteen, and she is fourteen, thats kind of sick. Then on top of that, Cedric Diggory is in love with Cho Chang who is also much younger than his is. Is this just the way wizards are?

But all and all this was a great book that everyone should definately read! Buy it today!

Summary: It just keeps getting better!
Review: I recieved The Goblet of Fire on Saturday morning by FedEx, andwas finished with it by Sunday evening -- I just couldn't put it down.Harry Potter fans will NOT be disappointed by the newest addition (and she's already got me excited for the next book!)

Harry and his friends just keep getting more interesting. Rowling lets us get to know some of our favorite characters in more depth. Plus, she has introduced some interesting new characters in this book, like "Mad Eye" Moody the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher and Rita Skeeter the Daily Prophet reporter.

Rowling has created yet another engrossing tale, that kept me on the edge of my seat for most of the day. Every time I thought I could predict what was going to happen next, it twisted in a new direction. The World Cup in the beginning will delight Quiddich fans, and the TriWizard Championship is great new challenge for our young hero.
