Summary: The best Harry Potter yet!
Review: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is the best yet! The plot is a bit more involved than the 3 earlier books, yet is fast paced. I thought I had some of the mysteries solved, but was kept guessing until the very end. Because of the fast pace, complicated plot and serious themes, this is probably the Harry Potter that adults will like the best. JK Rowlings deals with some serious themes in Goblet of Fire, more than she has in the earlier Harry Potter books, but it's certainly not too dark for kids. There's plenty of humor and fun, too. It's clear Harry is growing up, and maturing. It's only appropriate that the stories do the same. I got the book on Saturday, and read almost non-stop until I had it finished. I definitely did NOT want to put this book down. Now I have to wait until my friends finish so we can talk about it!

Summary: Not the best inthe series...
Review: ...but still a great summer read. I happed to be down with the flu this weekend, enabling me to read the entire 700+ pages book already. Being an adult, my fascination with the Harry Potter series is driven by pure childish delight, a wonderful means of re-stimulating my imagination. This fourth installment, while enjoyable, was not in my opinion quite as magical as the first three. Much of the writing appears to be devoted toward setting the stage for the final istallments rather than devoted toward the adventure itself, almost overshadowing the plot of this specific book. Additionally, I did not bond with any of the new characters introduced - possibly because there were so many that they could not be presented as fully and in depth as those in earlier books.

Despite these criticisms, I did find it to be an enjoyable read, and am still happily looking forward to the next installment. I recommend it to others mainly as there is much informaiton that will certainly be needed in order to understand and appreciate those yet to come. Try to read it through the eyes of your 9 year old self and enjoy!

Summary: Rowling does it again!
Review: J. K. Rowling has created another wonderful book in her Harry Potter series with Goblet of Fire. As Harry and friends have matured so have the plot lines and the tension and suspense underlying them. I'm not sure how the latest book will play with young children, but as an adult admirer of Harry, I could not put it down. As his 4th year at Hogwarts begins, Harry is confronting more danger from without and changes from within. But Ms. Rowling never descends into tiresome teenage angst as Harry and friends face danger and their own changing attitudes towards one another. And the laugh out loud moments appear often to break the increasing tension.

People wonder why Harry Potter has become the phenomenom it is. The most basic reason and the one most often overlooked is that J. K. Rowling is a fabulous writer!

Summary: A Triumph
Review: I was so pleased to finally get my hands on this book! All of the months of waiting was worthwhile. I received the book on Saturday from Amazon.com as promised (Thank You!)

I am one of the many adults (26 years old and no children!) who has fallen in love with the Harry Potter series.

The characters and how Rowling shapes them is truly wonderful. There is a real continuity to the series, a sense of each book really building upon one another. The Goblet of Fire was a non-stop read for me. I finished Sunday afternoon and plan to read it one more time for good measure before lending it to my mother!

The only critcism I have for this book is that it is fairly obvious who is going to die in this book. However, how this person dies and the manner in which it happened caught me by surprise. I did not see that particular situation coming at all. I would love to go into more detail, but I do not want to ruin the thrill the new book gives.

The book gets exciting as can be in the last 150 pages. They are filled with suspense and you will finish the book and say wow. Of course the only problem is now that I have read the 4th book, I want to read the 5th book already!

Go ahead and buy this book, you won't regret it!

Summary: The best Potter yet for adults
Review: As we all know, the Harry Potter series is very popular among adulsts. The themes, style, and characters have been strong enough to make me a committed fan. On rare occasions, however, there were aspects that reminded me that the the books were written for adolescents. Some situations were a little too contrived, some minor characters were too far over the top, and so forth.

I am glad to report that the latest Potter is almost entirely free of these "cringe" elements. Without losing any consistency from previous volumes, the Harry Potter world has settled down and is - for lack of a better term - less self absorbed.

And it's a good thing, too, because things are getting serious now!

Summary: When's the FIFTH one coming out?
Review: I can't believe how great this series is and keeps getting! The changes in Harry throughout the four books in print are incredibly realistic and well done! I love reading these books! We got the book and spent the day reading it from cover to cover - we couldn't put it down! Harry's committment to self, strength of character, - not to mention courage! - are very enjoyable! It is also good to read a book where the characters are very real with each other! Poor Harry endures taunting like never before at Hogwarts and the world opens up to Hermione, Ron, etc through the World Cup and the Triwizard Tournament. The tests of faith, courage, magic, skill, and bravery for Harry are wonderful, frightening, humorous and imaginative. THANK YOU, JK ROWLING!
