Rating: Summary: Well worth the wait Review: I pre-ordered this book several months ago, after polishing off Prisoner of Azkaban. After months of anticipation I am now ready for number of five. Goblet of Fire is another step above all of Rowling's previous work, with the characters and plot taking on totally new depth. The length of this book was a treat, after waiting so long it was nice to get such a large dose of Harry Potter. Must read for all Potter fans.
Rating: Summary: A Book that Lives Up to the Hype Review: This morning at 0200, I finished "Harry Potter and theGoblet of Fire". My first warning to the reader is do not startthis book when there's a chance you'll be close to the end at bedtime. You WILL stay up until you're finished and dream about it all night! This book is the much anticipated fourth book in the "Harry Potter" series by J.K. Rowling. The other three books have been on the best-seller list for months. Needless to say this is the much anticipated publishing event of the year. Surely with all the hype the book itself must be something of a letdown..... WRONG! It's the best book of the series. In it we see Harry in his fourth year at Hogwarts. During this year, he grows even more as a adolescent. As he grows so do his lifes challenges. The pacing of the book is excellent. Ms. Rowling never lost me for an instant. She also adds considerable depth and texture to Harry's world. Questions are answered from the previous books in the series as well as new asked in the new book. I've told you as much as I can without spoiling any of the plot elements. Get your copy ASAP!
Rating: Summary: Harry is on top again Review: As soon as I opened the book, I knew I was in for another greatride. Even better, because this book was twice as long as itspredecessors. What really impressed me was the feeling that I had stepped right back into the same story with the same people I loved (or loved to hate). The 4th year at Hogwart's brings more characters and more complexity to the tale of Harry and his world. It was like putting on a favorite comfortable coat and finding $100 in the pocket. I was concerned that it might be a letdown after 3 great books and the incredible promotion campaign. WRONG ! This is a furious flight and I, for one, kept thinking, "One more chapter, one more chapter" all night long. Harry's development as a young man and as a wizard is exciting and gratifying. Be sure to read the books in order as each builds on the previous one. The only bad moment for me was when I realized that there were only a few pages left before this installment was over. When is #5 being released? I bought 2 because my 13 yr old nephew was as anxious as I to read the newest Harry. High praises from California!
Rating: Summary: JK Rowling does it again! Review: JK Rowling has done it again, bigger and better than ever before! I absolutely DEVOURED this installment of the beloved Harry Potter series! The new magical creatures were a delight to meet and the Triwizard tournament was very well plotted and exciting. This story may be a little intense for younger readers (there are several deaths), but all in all, I couldn't put it down. The only disappointment is that we'll have to wait anohter year to find out what happens next!
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter Rules Review: this was really a great book...even better than the last three. i read it in about three hours and already i cant wait for the next one. btw does anyone know when thats coming out? o well, I guess I will just have to wait for it. I would give everything about this book five stars except for the relationship hermione <<did i mention that this book finally says how to pronounce her name? Its her-my-oh-nee. Ive been saying it wrong the whole time>> except for the relationship hermione has with viktor krum. it just doesnt seem believable---but i will say no more because i dont want to give away the book; except powerful, powerful ending that was easily the best part of the whole story, that leaves the reader with a feeling of anticipation and foreboding about whats going to happen next. and-oh yes- someone did die in this book but it was not as I thought<<my friends and I were taking bets on who would be cut-out. our guesses go from everyone from dumbledore to nevilles toad, but none of us expected this>> well i really cant write any more because you will be mad at me for ruining the book for you so just go read it...
Rating: Summary: Another Great Read Review: As a college student, I didn't think the Harry Potter books would have much to offer me, but after taking book 3 on Spring Break...I'm hooked. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is another great read and the best in the series so far.
Rating: Summary: Fully lives up to the hype surrounding it Review: One of Ms. Rowlings' most extraordinary achievements is that each book in the Harry Potter series is better than the last, and the fourth installment is no exception. The heft of a 750 page volume may seem intimidating (can a child even lift this thing?) yet the author makes use of the expanded length to ratchet the emotional intensity of the series to a new level, particularly in the later part of the book. As always, the characters and descriptions in the book are rich and engaging, and her imagination is so wonderfully developed that the world she writes about is as much alive as our own or that of any of the great fantasy writers. Even more rewarding, the author provides a complex and nuanced study of such critical issues as prejudice, inequality, freedom, honor, responsibility, and the costs of making moral choices. Both the major and minor characters in the novel are not only entertaining but keep the reader guessing as to their true nature and intentions. This combined with the very nature of Rowlings' magical world offer both children and adults with the perfect opportunity to re-examine our assumptions about what we see, what we know, and what we understand. I only hope we don't have long to wait before being able to enjoy Harry's next year at Hogwarts.
Rating: Summary: As good as the first three Review: Rowling is consistently brilliant. She adds new characters, puts new spins on old favorites and allows the children (Harry, Ron and Hermione) to age into crushes, ambitions and rivalries. Be warned, this is intense. You know who is back and after Harry. The danger is real. The stakes are high. A great read for kids and adults -- just like books 1-3.
Rating: Summary: A book for all ages and times Review: Finished it last night - great book. It definitely goes deeper and darker than the first three, but still has that universal sort of feel to it - this is a classic instantly. The characters, new and old, are as charming and lovable as always. You can read this with or without having read the other three... Either way it rocks!
Rating: Summary: Everyone will enjoy this story! Review: This Harry Potter book is the most enjoyable yet. I like howpeople who have never read a Harry Potter book would understand whatis going on in this story. All of my favorite characters returned and added a new twist to the story. I liked how they still attended Hogwarts and got in to all the trouble just like in the other books. I like the characters reactions to when Harry's name was called form the Goblet of Fire. Over all i say that this book is for poeple of all ages bacause the language is not difficult and the story line is AWESOME! Although this story was longer then the other books, it would not of been the same if it was shorter.
