Rating: Summary: Goblet of Fire Review: The book is very exciting. Though it starts off very boring, it gets really good.j.K. rowling definately still has it in her to excite you but i feel that she is sorta starting to run out of ideas but will still be able to finish the series. At first you start to think that the book is going to be really boring and you want to stop reading it but that onlty lasts like 30 pages. Also it is surprising that the last chapter is called the beginning.... Overall it is a very good book
Rating: Summary: Young children beware Review: While I enjoyed Harry Potter immensely, it is easy to tell Harry, Ron and Hermione are growing up. While the first book in the series was ideal for younger readers, book 4 is, like its main characters, more mature. Some of the humor (and in one instance, the language) may make parents cringe at the idea of their children (say, eight and under) reading it. The plot is also a tad bit darker. However, I adored it and found it, despite being over 700 pages long, entirely too short. It will be a long wait until Book 5-Rowling leaves many threads open for the sequel. Overall, a wonderful addition to what is truly becoming a series of modern classics.
Rating: Summary: Great! Review: In my opinion the best of the series. Very high praise indeed. It is an excellent book, and the fact that I am 14 and writing this on a supposedly kids book surprizes even me. It is a great book for both kids and adults. End of story.
Rating: Summary: I can only sum it up in one word: AWESOME Review: J.K. Rowling is one of those rare authors who has managed to write a masterpiece series that not only children enjoy, but adults also. (My 70 year old grandfather can't wait to borrow "The Goblet of Fire" from me.) It is certian that the Harry Potter series will go down in history as a fantasy classic, along with C.S. Lewis's tales, THE HOBBIT, and THE WIZARD OF OZ. I have read all four of the books by her so far, and this one has to be my favorite. Harry's friends, the Weasleys, have managed to aquire tickets to the International Quidditch Cup; and they have invited Harry and Hermione to join them. Thrilled, Harry leaves the Dursleys and travels via portkey to watch the finals of the Quidditch game (Ireland vs. Bulgaria). During the celebration, a group of Death Eaters (followers of You-Know-Who who managed to escape the horrors Azkaban) cause havoc amoung the nearby muggles. And then a loyal Death Eater sends up the Dark Mark, which causes fear to ripple throughout the wizard community. For the Dark Mark is the sign of You-Know-Who. After all the commotion, Harry finds himself at school amoung his friends (and Cho Chang) once agian. The Ministry has a surprise waiting for them all, a Triwizard Tournament. The Triwizard is a compition between the three different wizard schools. Harry of course, can not enter. For safety reasons, the judges have put an age restiction on the tournament. No one under 17 can enter. To the surprise of both Harry and the adults at Hogwarts, Harry finds himself entered in the tournament. From here on, Harry has to survive three tests in the Triwizard Tournament and another surprise test that involves an encounter with the wizard that changed Harry's life forever. A thrilling story that the whole family will enjoy, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire will leave you itching for the next story in this international best selling series.
Rating: Summary: Great! Review: This book is most undoubtedly the best book in the Harry Potter series so far. I read it for 2 days straight until I finished, I couldn't put it down! It was VERY suspenseful, and at some parts pretty creepy. The book was better than I thought it was going to be, and believe me I thought it was gonna be pretty good. When I first got it I was blown away at how incredibly large it was, but the length gave it a THICKER (hehe) plot and more description. It was a superb book with a very unexpected twist at the end. GREAT BOOK!
Rating: Summary: Good versus Evil versus Homework Review: I like the Harry Potter series and I have enjoyed reading all of them, and I think "The Goblet of Fire" is an excellent addition to the series. This is not children's literature on the level of "Alice in Wonderland," but then, what modern child could possibly read and understand this now-classic today? The nice thing about Harry Potter books is that they are full of excellent and amusing details: the quirks of the professors at Hogwarts, the array of sweets that explode or surprise, the range of good and evil in the characters...all of whom are better defined than Harry himself. The fight between good and evil (evil may come close, but we are comforted in knowing that good will eventually prevail) is exciting and helps to move the action along in between discursive bits on classwork in Potions or the History of Magic, but the books, this one especially, lack a hero. Harry Potter is more a collection of facts (scar, parents' deaths, awful family, green eyes, etc) than a real person who, put to the test and tried, triumphs for reasons of character. Harry isn't a hero, he isn't even as interesting as most of the other young wizards he knows, and certainly not as interesting as the grown-ups. "The Goblet of Fire" has a REAL hero, however: Cedric Diggory. He seems to embody all the admirable traits that Harry is credited with. I look forward to the next installment of this series, and I also look forward to the characters' growth as they grow older and as the plot thickens (as it certainly has) and they rise to meet the challenges of good and evil, everyday and extra-ordinary.
Rating: Summary: super dee duper Review: the moment i got this book i locked myself in my room and did not do anything for two days but read it. It is the best book ever written! eight thumbs up! 40 stars! a 14 out of ten!
Rating: Summary: Great book Review: After reading the first three books of the recent hits and chart-topping Harry Potter seriesI am half way done this book at it just as good as the first three. I can't wait to read the rest
Rating: Summary: Terrific and Fun Reading for Adults and Kids Review: The underdog Harry Potter in off and running in this new fantasy adventure. I highly recommend this to both adults and kids, although, it's NOT quite up to par with the previous adventures. Still, it sure beats going to silly summer movies like THE PATRIOT, MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 2 or SCARRY MOVIE.
Rating: Summary: AWESOME! Review: The book was the best yet. It always kept taking unexpected turns. The only thing I didn't like was the no interhouse Quidditch tournament.
