Summary: This book is "off the hook"!
Review: This book is the best, hands down, in the series. I read this 734-page book in 3 days! I'm telling you, you can't put it down! Harry is faced with a lot of real life situations like having a crush on Cho Chang, another house seeker. This is the best book I've ever read and I hope it is for you too.

Summary: What's Past Is Prologue
Review: The first three Potter books are self-contained; each could be read with enjoyment without having read the others. That is not true of the fourth book, Goblet of Fire, what Rowling has called the 'pivotal book' in her seven book series. This is no loss to Potter fans. Indeed, Rowling assumes her readers have an easy familarity with the first books (the characters, the scenes, the drama, even specific curses and potions)and is able, consequently, to write a book of greater depth, excitement, and edification than the first three.

A la the Brothers Karamazov, Rowling's lead trio of Harry, Hermione, and Ron represent the three faculties of soul: spirit, mind, and body. The first three Potter books are the integration of these faculties in the good. Their friendship, as the perfectly formed soul in life by the world, is forged by trials, failures, and victories in the struggle with evil. The success of the books has as much to do with the identification each reader has with this universal experience as with Rowling's unique wit and story telling skills.

In the fourth book, this loving trinity has matured enough to begin its heroic journey into the valley of darkness. I assume this journey will last the remaining three books and end with the victory of the white hats (Albus Dumbledore)and the salvation of Neville Longbottom (the character who will be transformed from a toad to a world beater by the sacrificial love of his three friends). Not since Dickens has an author in English, in the guise of a comic novel or fantasy literature ('children's books')written a work that because of its un-reality so successfully engages and transforms for the better the reader with its portrayal of what is most real: love, loyalty, courage, friendship, and the danger of the absence of these virtues in all those who choose death ('Vol-de-mort')over life. These are the most implicitly and subtle Christian novels since the Narnia books (and perhaps because of the author's much more subtle use of Christian imagery and theology)they are more successful than Lewis' work both in the bookstores and in souls immunized to the faith of Christians.

To end: An altogether wonderful read I urge all parents to share aloud with their children and friends; more edifying than a Sunday visit to most places of congregational worship and a whole lot more fun.

Summary: The refreshing world of Harry Potter
Review: Harry Potter is back and is more interesting than ever. The older he gets, the less I feel guilty about reading a "children's" book. My favorite character by far is "Mad-Eye" Moody. What an amazing addition to the cast of characters. There is love, danger, action, everything a muggle could want in a book. The much publicized death is upsetting, but it goes with the flow of the story. I was pleased with the length of the book because I didn't read it all in one night. It meant two night of reveling in Harry Potter's adventures.

Summary: A Great Read
Review: I just finished reading the fourth Harry Potter book and loved it. Once again, someone is out to get Harry and the You-Know-Who seems to be getting stronger. The novel has a well developed plot, interesting and original events, and even a surprise ending. Like the other novels in the series, this book is a suspenseful mystery. I highly recommend it to anyone who has enjoyed the other Harry Potter books.

Summary: Fantastic!
Review: Just like all of the otherHarry Potter books, J.K. Rowlingdoes it again! She writes exceptionalwell-written fantasy yet again. You must buy this. Even if you don't like fantasy and adventure you will still love this book! Adults don't be fooled, this book is for you too! It has the kid-like tone, yet written adult-like. Everyone, you must buy this book. If you haven't gotten the first three you should definetely buy them also. This book is easily just as good as the other three but by far longer (which is better!). This is definetely worth the dollars and you will enjoy reading it over and over again as I know I will!

Summary: I LOVED IT!
Review: I am so happy that this book met the same quality as rowlings first three. I finished it in three days and hope to start reading it again. I think harry potter is the best. Number four proves to be scarier and more entertaining then the first three by far. I cannot wait for number 5.

Summary: Another excellent addition to the Harry Potter series
Review: Harry Potter is maturing, and so is the tone of J.K. Rowlings' books. The fourth book in the Harry Potter series is an excellent read, but it's a bit darker in places than the previous three.

It's also a good deal longer -- over 750 pages.

The central event of this book is a magcial tournament that takes place between three rival schools of magic: Hogwarts (of course), Beauxbatons, and the somewhat sinister Durmstrang.

In the meantime, evil doings are afoot, both within Hogwarts and the Ministry of Magic.

There's really no question that Harry will survive the book and go on to star in books 5-7, but how you get there is most of the fun. J.K. Rowling manages once again to tell a completely engrossing story that is at once moving, terrifying, and uplifting.

Summary: A darker chapter, perhaps, but excellent.
Review: Fans of Harry Potter may at first be taken aback by the darker tone of this latest J.K. Rowling book, but it is still her best effort to date (Which is saying a lot). Rowlings usual strong, believable characters fill this book, and help yet again to bring this fantasy world to life. Very young readers may wish to steer clear of this one for a while, as is does contain some mature elements, and at 734 pages, it may intimidate some new readers (Young and old!). All considered, however, the book is a masterpiece, and I encourage you to enjoy it with your children.

Summary: Best Yet!
Review: I have read the other three Harry Potter books, and I loved all of them. This book was no exception. The plot was very interesting and suspenseful. There are many twists that will keep you reading! In this book Harry's fight against the evil dark wizard, Voldemort, continues. Many interesting facts about Voldemort's past get revealed. This was by far the most "adult" oriented book of the four Harry Potter books. But I believe that it is appropriate for all ages. If this is your first experience with Harry Potter I would recommend reading the other three books first. I think you could enjoy reading this book if you had never read another Harry Potter book but a lot of the references to past books would be lost. However, J.K. Rowling does do a good job of briefly paraphrasing some of the major events from the other books.
