Rating: Summary: Really, quite wonderful, however... Review: I have just finished and, I think, fully absorbed theexperience of the fourth Harry Potter. It is a very fast read, owingto the fact that it can't be put down easily. Happily, the patterns that the first books started falling into, are broken here and the ideas are a little fresher. It is incredible, looking back through, how little is wasted in Rowling's writing. All the little details she includes, no matter how seemingly frivolous at the time, are cornerstones to the architecture of the fantasy. I must include, sadly, a "however," here...My pleasure in this series is fading somewhat as the sinister and adult themes are on the rise and the innocence is becoming lost. This may seem to be nit-picking, but I think the greatest pleasure derived from the series by the adult readers is an innocent awe at the magical world. That naivete gone, the books will begin to appeal, I think, more to younger readers, who aren't looking back too fondly on youth and inexperience, than to adults. This is the way it should be, I realize, and I only knock a star off for the way the book affects me. Rowling is treating the material as it must be treated and doing fabulously with it. I'm just missing the greener days again.
Rating: Summary: Doesn't disappoint Review: I sat down with this book the moment I got it and devoured it in one weekend, and it was time well spent. Harry and his pals are adolescents now, and the awkwardness of crushes and school dances rings true to the reader's experience. The book is as packed with adventure as all the others, and the end is even more thrilling, and a cliff-hanger to lead us in to Book 5. Write faster, Ms. Rowling!
Rating: Summary: Rowling Strikes Again Review: In one of the best books in the series, Rowling has definitely written a classic book. It is interesting to note that this book does not follow in the tradition of the other Harry Potter books in that where the other books did not require the reader to have read the previous books in the series in order to understand the book, the Goblet of Fire does. Also, whereas in the other books Voldemort is never really described in detail, in the Goblet of Fire his malice can truly be sensed. The Goblet of Fire, following in the tradition of Philip Pullman, leaves an amazing cliffhanger at the end making sure that the reader will read the next book the second it comes out. Although after the initial attention grabber in the beginning of the song, the book slows down, it picks its momentum back up quite quickly. This is truly an amazing book written by a masterful author.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (book 4) Review: The content and writing is just awesome. The book is so bulky you need a Lazyboy to be able to sit and read comfortably. Highly recommended. Hint: read the first 3 books first.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Review: Now, Harry is back at Hogwarts for his fourth year. With a new teacher and a big event happening the book gets good very quickly. Harry finally does something about his crush on Cho Chang and his worrying about Voldmert may be true...
Rating: Summary: stunning! Review: Harry Potter faces many new , dangerous, thrilling and funnychallenges in "the Goblet of Fire". Like the previous threenovels, the conclusion of the book left me surprised- and deliciously pleased!
Rating: Summary: Another outstanding book from Rowling, highly recommend Review: . ... WOW. I just finished reading this book with my daughter and wife, out loud for over three days and my voice is starting to go. We just couldn't stop. The humor, the suspense, the plot twists, the mystery and the many clues, the many surprises make this the Best Harry Potter so far. All our favorite characters were back, and they are all getting older, as is the theme, I would recommend that you wait until at least 10 years old to read this. It is quite involved and very scary at some points. And one character does die. The story made us laugh and cry, sometime within minutes. We tried to guess who was guilty or innocent, what could happen next, what different clues meant, and sometimes we were correct, frequently we were very surprised, sometimes even stunned, but always wanted more. It's a shame it was only 734 pages, we would have loved more. Of course we will all read it at least once more, like the previous three books, the many plot twist and clues could not all be caught in just one reading. We can't wait for Harry Potter number 5.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Review: Usually, when a sequel is promoted as heavily as the 4th Harry Potter novel, it cannot possibly live up to the hype. But by including some new characters and challenges, and leaving others out, J.K.Rowling has managed to keep the 4th (and longest) book in the series feeling fresh. The Goblet of Fire puts Harry and his friends into deeper danger then ever before. The number of challenges put in front of Harry in this book makes the dangers he faced in the first three seem pale in comparison. In this installment, more questions are answered about the rise of You-Know-Who's power. A clearer picture emerges as to why everyone is so terrified of ever seeing his powers return. Harry Potter remains the humble hero, and he has matured at 14, but in a way that children of all ages can still relate to. Just as with the first three, this book was impossible to put down. The ending to Goblet of Fire leaves you with a sense that the next book will bring even more danger to Harry and his companions. I am already looking forward to it!
Rating: Summary: Another Interesting Year at Hogwarts Review: The long awaited sequel to Harry Potter and the Prisoner foAzkaban is here at last. This book entitled Harry Potter and theGobblet of Fire is as or even more climatic and fun-filled as the past three Potter books. J.K. Rowling has truely out done herself in this particular book. It displays many twists and turns as do the other Harry Potter books if not more. There are also new surprises and new characters adding to the previous ones. I give this book four stars and two thumbs up. This is a book that I will gladly share and truely recommend to children and adults of all ages. I myself wish that J.K. Rowling would continue writing about Harry and his adventures throughout Hogwarts, and also in his adult life. This is a very extraordinary book, and I hope that all of you who have read it or will read it in the future to come will enjoy it as much as I did.
