Rating: Summary: Another triumph for JK Rowling! Review: I think this book was very well written. I couldn't lay it down, and when I did, I felt guilty. With the rumors of someone dying, I was terrified for the characters. I was surprised at who was "killed off". I recommend this book for anyone who wants to get away from the world for awhile.
Rating: Summary: PG-13 Rating Review: The 4th Harry Potter book is every bit as imaginative, witty, and clever as the first three. It is also much scarier than any of the others. Given the number of small children who love Harry (and rightly so!) I would warn all parents to read the book before sharing it with their children younger than junior-high age and decide if it's appropriate for them or not. I would also have like to see some resolution to Hermione's struggle to liberate the house-elves; that plot line got left hanging.
Rating: Summary: Yet another good book! Review: I just finished the book today, after reading almost nonstopfor two days I must say that this is one of the best books I have everread and a great addition to the Harry Potter storyline. The plot kept the pages turning and one new dovelopment added to another. Highly recomended.
Rating: Summary: Things Get Darker at Hogwarts Review: The fourth book in the Harry Potter tale is as pivotal to the series as the book jacket says. Despite the hype, it is as much fun and as touching, shocking, and poignant as the first three. Many postive messages for kids about doing the right thing, keeping friends, and friendly competition as well as some serious messages about prejudice, jealousy, and envy. This book feels less like Roald Dahl and CS Lewis and more like STAR WARS -- THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK.Book four starts off at the Quidditch World Cup; This event is the only time we will see the sport in this text as the year long in-school tournament is cancelled in favor of a three wizard-school magic championship open only to older students. Of course Harry, officially too young to enter, has been entered against his will and finding out who is behind it is the main mystery behind this book. Rowling also takes an interest in showing Ron, Hermione, and Harry growing up as their "teen" personalities assert themselves and their interests change and tempers flare. There is a welcome return of several characters from the previous books and much of the mystery, history, and politics of the wizarding world Harry has entered is explored and explained as well as how the world was before the infant Harry stopped Voldemort. The outcome of this book sets up the possible direction the final three books will probably take and hints at a great shakeup among the characters both liked and disliked as well as a future culminating grand battle between good and evil as the climax of the series. I am sure we will probably lose more characters in future books as this one ends both tragically and ominously. Things are only beginning. Cant wait for book 5.

Rating: Summary: Magical Review: Of the 4 Harry Potter books, this one is the longest but at the same time it is even more captivating than the first 3. Once you start reading, you will not want to put the book down. I read the book in less that 24 hours! Yes, 24 hours! To be honest, for fans of the first 3 books, there are places where the story does slow. But that is because we already know that Harry is a wizard and lives with Muggles. We are already familiar with Harry, his friends, his enemies, and Hogwarts. But for new readers, they need to know this information. Although I would hope that new readers to the series start with Book 1. As an adult who has lost count of the books I have read, I am finding all of the Harry Potter books to be entertaining. I wish they were available back when I was a child. Maybe I would have read even more. Well, they would have been added to all of the others that I read like "The Hobbit" and "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe". Will I reread the book? Yes, I already have plans to take it with me to the beach to reread in a few weeks. I am looking forward to rereading about Fred and George's antics and about Fawkes the phoenix.. And yes, reading about Harry's learning experiences again.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter better than ever! Review: Make no mistake, this book is bigger, darker and yes, better than the previous three (although I love each one for different reasons). Any HP fan knows that J.K. Rowling would have to take HP to another level in order to improve upon the incredible first three books. Well, she's done it. We're brought closer to Voldemort, we learn more about the history of all the characters, and Harry, Ron and Hermione's friendship is tested. And all of them are growing up, too. Yes, it's darker, but don't be daunted by that nor by the size of the book. Remember that Harry is growing up and it makes sense that he's ready and able to tackle harder problems at 14 than he was at 11. It's still an incredible book! Sigh. The only problem with this book is that I've already finished it and I don't know when the next one's coming out! I thought I was hooked on the HP series before this one came out, but now I'm dying to know what happens next! I think the only thing to do is to reread "Sorcerer's Stone" and keep going from there.
Rating: Summary: 4th Harry Potter a disappointment Review: Unfortunately, the fourth book in the Harry Potter series proves a big disappointment after the wonderful first 3 novels. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is overlong, lacking the tight plot of Rowling's other attempts; Rowling cuts short some of the most comical moments in the other books, Harry's summers with the Dursleys, to make room for her lengthy descriptions of seemingly never-ending tournaments (first the Quidditch World Cup, then the Triwizard Tournament). Rowling tries to show Harry and his friends as they move through adolescence, attempting to deal with their parents as well as their first crushes; however, any pre-teen novel out there does it better. While I enjoyed reading the book out of love for the characters, we can only hope that the 5th novel in the series provides us with the cunning plot and witty commentary we came to know and love in the first 3 novels of the series.
Rating: Summary: Only makes you want Book 5 to be out too! Review: All I can say is that the Harry Potter series is addicting. Can I give it about 20 stars? I am almost 22 years old and I cannot seem to get enough of this series. I applaud J.K. Rowling for treating children with respect and knowing that they do not need to be talked down to in order to enjoy a story. Also thank you for letting adults get as wrapped up in the story line as well. I warn readers now, the last 50 pages of this book basically gives you a new storyline...YOU WILL WANT BOOK 5 to be out as well! That is the key to success and Rowling has so accomplished that.
Rating: Summary: creepy, wonderful, amazing! Review: I love the new Harry Potter book! it starts of with the creepy first chapterthe riddle house and it's so captivating! I started to read it and i couldn't stop even to eat!Fortunately i'm a fast reader. the ending totally caught me off guard and i am eagerly anticipate the fifth book. It starts off with the murder of the riddles and how a frank bryce was accused of killing them. when frank bryce is killed himself by Lord Voldemort and the help of his snake, Nagini Harry Potter wakes up. It starts off right away with the Quidditch world Cup, a lot of humor thanks to Fred and George Weasley, and has a lot of gloom in it too. When J.K Rowling said there would be death in this book she wasnt kidding. THe end is amazing, with Cornelius fudge's stubborness, Snape secret, Dumledore's nobleness and harry's courage. Harry Potter truly is a role model for me, to stand true and to not back down to evil in this case Lord Voldemort. this whole book showed me the evilness of evil, noblest a person can be, the courage in side everyone and the light always shining in the end. Whatever comes will come and we'll be ready when it does.
