Summary: Jo serves the golden snitch on a platter!
Review: As this is the fourth book of a seven-book series, I was anticipating something in the way of "Indiana Jones: Temple of Doom" or "The Empire Strikes Back": a filler with a great act to follow and a great act to live up to. Rowling proved me wrong, and I love her for it!

The series follows the travails of a young boy going through seven years of school, and as all good journeyman books should go, this series is true to his age during each book. We see Harry and his friends maturing, getting social conscience (Hermione & the house-elves), and starting adolescence. There are situations showing class-ism (Ron has a problem with Harry having money & fame), racism (the Death Eaters torture and bait the muggle camp groundskeepers), and tragic family dynamics (one of the main sub-plots deals with a son killing his father). Rowling does not soften the blow of death and torture.

The strong resemblance between Harry and Voldemort gets fleshed out in this book: their each having a muggle parent, growing up as orphans, Hogwarts being their first exposure to magic, they are parseltongues (talk to snakes), their wands being link to Dumbledore's phoenix. Where they differ is in the choices they make: Harry chooses Gryffindor even though the sorting hat thought he would do well in Slytherin, Harry chooses to let Peter Wormtail go instead of allowing his murder.

Hermione and Ron's characters are well-developed. Ron's development is interesting in that there is strife in his relationship with Harry: they fight outright, Ron is extremely jealous of Harry's fame and wealth, Harry is callous in his treatment of Ron while they are "enemies". Hermione on the other hand plays mediator, and takes up the cause of the house-elves, who are the servants of the households and Hogwarts. She also gets asked to the Ball by the Belgian Seeker, Ron's idol, thereby proving her attractiveness. There are signs of Ron's interest in her which he cannot yet see, but I am sure will get developed in future books.

I could go on forever, but I strongly recommend, if you have read this review so far, that you read the book!

Summary: Oh..........migod.........
Review: ........ ........ ........sorry, had to catch my breath. This book is SO amazingly cool it almost not even worth talking about. J.K. Rowling really did it this time, she sure did, with a MASTERFUL weave of intrigue, mystery, sorrow, and saturated with the taint of undniable, unforgivable evil. To those skeptical readers out there reading this review, bear in mind that I am 15 and generally not interested in this kind of stuff, but this book really grabbed me. I'm talking less than 12 hours to finish kind of grabbed. It is everything a great work of literature should be, and then some. Surprises ahead: don't even TRY to guess who it is for example. And ready yourself for a (word that completely exels 'wonderful' and 'excellent' I can't think of one) conclusion worthy only of Harry Potter. Oh, and...in case you haven't picked up on the subtle hint in this review...BUY! THIS! BOOK! Or you will regret it when the local bookshop runs out of copies.

Summary: The You-Know-Who Strikes Back.
Review: Although I thought that the book was unquestionablyentertaining like many of the reviewers that have voiced their opinionin this forum, I found the book to be lacking in the sense that it was not a good example of a self-contained book that is part of a series.

Unlike the first three books, this volume in the series seems to be playing upon an age-old marketing scheme usually used by the movie industry. In the end, it causes us to want for the next book of the series instead of feeling the lightening of a burden usually received with the resolution of a book. It leaves many questions unanswered and many secrets in the dark.

Also, I find the dark foreboding at the end of the book to be very similar to another great tale, "The Empire Strikes Back." Also a tale of epic proportions, the Star Wars Trilogy also seems to follow this same pattern. The second (fifth episode) installment of the Star Wars series leaves us with a dark forboding and created a great hype for the third and final Star Wars. And, although it was a great movie, it could not stand alone as a movie without the background of the first movie and resolution of the third movie. This was a marketing ploy by George Lucas, the producer of the Star Wars series.

It would seem to me that J.K. Rowling took a page out of Lucas' book (so to speak) when she created the ending for this book. I do not want to give up too many details, so I shall leave it at that.

In conclusion, the book is a good and entertaining book for all Harry Potter fans out there, but leaves us screaming for the next installment. However, for the uninitiated, I think it would be wise to start with one of the previous three books to immerse yourself into the magical world of Potter before attempting this novel that is more entwined into the series than the rest.

Summary: THE BOOK WAS THE BEST
Review: All right, you want to read Harry Potter 4? Well give yourself 4 days of sleepless nights and just read. Because once you start reading your not going to put it down. The entire book just moves. It's almost like watching a movie, except the Harry Potter movies SUCK.
One of J.K. Rowling's great talents is too grab the reader, beat it mercilessly across the head and then leave them hanging. (In a good way) I have heard people say, "man that books for kids". Then they read it, and are like me overwhelmed by the book and can't wait for the next. ANYONE CAN READ THIS, AND EVERYONE SHOULD READ IT. 5 stars is an understatement.

Summary: this book was awesome
Review: This book was so good that I actually had to fight with my sister to read it. Finally, I sat next to her on the couch and we both read it at the same time, holding the book open both to the page where she was and the page where i was. It is definately worth reading and I'm definately going to buy the next book when it comes out.

Summary: Harry Potter: The best books ever
Review: During last school year I kept hearing people talk about Harry Potter books. I didn't know what the big deal was but under the advise of my friends I decided to read them. I was imediately swept up into them and could not wait for the forth one. I got the book the night it came out and before I read it I reread all 3 books so it was like picking up where I left off and I couldn't put it down, it was most definatly the best book of the series. At the end I hardly could control myself and cried it touched me so much.
