Summary: The Goblet of Fire
Review: If one ever sits and wonders just what it is that makes a great film stand out from other movies, what makes games remembered where others are forgotten, or what distinguishes superb stories from the rest of the books on the shelf, they will hear many different reasons or concoct their own. Some will suggest that the key ingredients are things like having a certain amount of plot, an interesting gameplay, believable characters, writing that is easy to comprehend, an unpredictable roller coaster of mystery, or an entertaining witty humor.

Yet while great movies/games/books (or any other forms of such media) will tend to have as many of these key ingredients as possible, it isn't *any* of these that make them stand above the rest. And while a combination of many of these factors marks to rare or uncommon talent, great work is definitely more than the sum of the parts.

The Harry Potter series is something quite special. When you read it, you know it isn't just the characters, setting, and atmosphere that are magical. It is the *story* that takes all of those key characteristics (characters with frighteningly realistic depth of personality and believable motivations, a sophisticated yet followable plotline, a setting so picturesque it could have been painted on a canvas, delightful humor...) and crafts them into a very deliberately designed experience. Throughout the series, it is very clear to the reader that Rowling knew exactly what she was doing and exactly how she wanted them to feel.

While the first three books tended to beckon the reader's feelings to the desired effect, The Goblet of Fire thrusts the reader through subtle combinations of stronger and more mature emotions that Rowling describes in bright hues of vivid detail. You open this book almost twice the size of the others expecting a heavier read. You come away in the end almost feeling a heavier burden on your soul. Whether you are currently around Harry's age or reminiscing about when you were, you know how he feels throughout even the thickest of his ordeals.

And for those who ever wonder just what the big fuss is about, this is one of the better series where it is "worth the time to find out."

P.S. Also rather cute is how Rowling dispels some of the common misconceptions about the story (and mispronunciation of some names).

Summary: The BEST Harry Potter book yet
Review: I bought all of the harry potter books out yet from amazon, and i loved them all, but this is by far the best one. I read the book in 3 days, and it is mystifying and suspenseful. The Harry Potter books are my all time favorite books, and this one is the best one by far. It is definitly worth the 15 some bucks, and i would have spent 30 on it. If you are new to the seires, by them all, and if you read the previous 3, you should get this one.

Summary: The goblet of interrest
Review: I thought this book was very different from the other Harry Potter Books. It had a whole new arrangement to it . Although it is much more reading I found I couldn't put it down. I had to find out if Harry would ever win the tiwizard turnament or if he would ever finally beat Lord Voldermont . I found this book quiet interresting and I think any reader of any age would to.

Summary: Do kids really read 734-page novels?
Review: The book is very clever and entertaining. But as it is apparently targeted to kids aged 9 to 11, I wonder why J.K. Rowling opted to make it 734 pages long. I've never met a kid that age who had ever, or would ever, tackle a novel of that intimidating length. I'd love to do a poll 6 months from now and find out how many kids actually managed to finish "Goblet of Fire." My prediction is that it would be less than 5%--if that. Sorry to toss cold water on everyone's blockbuster publishing event of the moment. It just strikes me as a little bit weird.

Summary: THe Goblet Of Fire.
Review: Harry Potter is back with a longer darker scarier ride then the one's he has faced in books 1-3. A refreshing spin to keep potter from becoming stale.734 pages of straight intrigue as you are swept along with harry from a burning scar dream that left him reaching for a quill and hedwig to inform godfather in hiding Sirius Black, to the other twists and turns that j.k rowling has conjured up in her latest installment. As usual we open to poor Harry at the intolerable cruel hands of the Dursley's, and the scar burning dream he had has left harry worried as well as nervous waiting for a word from black. He however has little time cuz Ron and the rest of the Weasly clan have a surprise instore for him that would take up most of the summer up until year four at hogwarts where upon arrival they are surprised with news of a triwizard tournament with two other schools.New characters and the onslaught of Darkness. dealing with different schools, starting to show interest in girls and a tabloid paking quill and even more bothersome reporter will make its mark on a year harry isn't likely to forget.....Good swift read.her words are very fluid in that they flow very well.Reccomended for maybe the 12 and up set may be too long and scary for younger, but if you like harry potter this long of wait and book is well worth it....can't wait for five....

Summary: As great as this book is, Amazon.com makes it better!
Review: There are 800 some odd reviews here about Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, letting everyone know that yes, it is as great as the other books.

I just want to take this small amount of space to thank Amazon.com for doing such an amazing job during the insane rush that occurred during this books release. With what was rapidly approaching half-a-MILLION orders placed to Amazon.com for this book, I expected to wait a long time to get it (the price made it worth it, though!). To my incredible surprise, my order was shipped the very next day, and the shipping was upgraded to 2nd day at no extra charge. I have never received better service from an online store, and I only wish that I had used Amazon.com for my Xmas shopping last year (instead of another site that didn't sent my items out for a month <ahem, there UGO>).

I didn't see anywhere else to praise Amazon.com, so what better place than to do it here. This is truly my unbiased opinion as a regular shopper and reviewer. I hope staying anonymous emphasizes that.

Thanks for the great service, Amazon.com! Now, back to my book...

Summary: Wonderful! Excellent!
Review: J.K. Rowling again has amazed me. All her books have captivated me with the suspense of the different scenarios, each character's individual personalities and powers, and with the amazing imagination behind it all. The "Goblet of Fire" captures your attention and doesn't let go. It feels as though your part of the story and your their to witness it all. It also pulls at every human emotion: Joy, laughter, fear, sadness, triumph, etc. And, of course it leaves many open possibilities for Harry's future adventures. This book as well as the previous 3, are a great read for any age. Enjoy!

Summary: A Masterpiece
Review: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was indeed a masterpiece. Good humor mixed in with sorrow and excitement makes this book one of the best ever written. Of course, that's not the only reason. It provides so much detail that you can feel like you're really there. J.K. Rowling has the unique capability of making the words pierce like a sword and make you feel for the character. Children can relate to Harry Potter. Adults can understand the morals. This book is a masterpiece.

Summary: Couldn't put it down!
Review: The book was on my doorstep when I woke up on July 8. I finished by dinner July 9. I kept putting it down, I wanted to savor it. Who knows how long it will be until book five is published. But I could not stop. I had to know the outcome of the Triwizard competition.

This book is darker than the first three. There is death, not just in the distant past, but within Hogwarts. There are the premonitions of wide spread evil to come. But there is still the underlying foundation that most people (wizards and muggles alike) are good. That light will prevail over the darkness.

A friend with a six-year-old has decided to wait a while before continuing the series with her child. Each parent should judge for themselves whether their child is ready to handle the darkness.

I am now waiting impatiently for the Harry's Fifth year at Hogwarts to start. I think it will be the darkest yet. And I hope it is just as long and full of details as the Goblet of Fire.
