Rating: Summary: I thought it couldn't get any better than book 3 Review: I bought the book the day it came out, and I finished it that day. That's how good it was. All 734 pages kept me on the edge of my seat, and I CAN'T wait for the next one! Please write fast Ms. Rowling!
Rating: Summary: lend me your ears ... Review: Are you a kid? Then you'll love it. Are you below 100 years old? You'll love it. (The only people who wouldn't love this amazing book are the ones who go to an Ivy League school and major in fine literature, for the fun of making fun of children's books; maybe Harry Potter is not "literature" to those types of people, but it's a classic epic in its own class) So, HARRY potter is like Star Wars with more interest, and magic. Anyway, I'd rather read a classic than "fine literature" because i believe that most of us don't enjoy ALL the books we read in school. By the way, we must write to the author and complain that the word "cool" is too American. Has anyone but me noticed how she tries to throw in American slang ... and how it sounds totally awkward in such a Brit-sounding book? She's embarrassing us Americans ... write and tell her to stop trying to be an American-wannabe. That is all. Thank you for listening ... cheers! Lakers rule ... and Harry Potter does, too.
Rating: Summary: Who knew Harry Potter books could get any better? Review: This is, of course, another WONDERFUL Harry Potter book. It is captivating and a little scary in places. J.K. Rowling did it again. If you've read the first three Harry Potter books, then you MUST read this one. I can't wait until book 5 comes out!
Rating: Summary: harry potter and the goblet of fire Review: this book was the best book I have ever read. i finished it in a week and could never put it down, and i can't wait for the 5th book to come out.
Rating: Summary: AWESOME! Review: This book is incredible the way the author always has exiting things going on. How everything is so magical. It's AWESOME!
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Review: Why do they keep saying these books are for children? I am 38 and I totally loved every one of them. This book was Awsome! It was a lot darker than the other three. As a teacher I'm not sure that I would read this one to my class. My 11 year old son finished it in 5 days. He couldn't put it down. I love seeing kids excited about reading again! When will the next one be published? I can't wait.
Rating: Summary: the best book in stores Review: Harry Potter books in general have changed my life. These books are full of imagination, humor, and wit. J.K. Rowling should definatly be awarded something special. Many claim the same thing happens in each book: Harry starts with the Dursleys and ends up beating Voldemort again. J.K. still has not failed to surprise me in every paragraph she writes. In "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" there was a constant feeling that I was one of them, that I indeed were a witch , attending Hogwarts, fearing Snape (and You-Know-Who) , and of course awing at Vicktor Krum. I believe an acual school should be built and called Hogwarts. Of course they will teach muggle accademics , but all the same will be as magical and mistical as the acual Hogwarts that is live and vivid in our minds. My teacher had taught me that a capitalized letter means a "proper" noun that desirves respect. That being the case I will end this rating with two words:HARRY POTTER.
Rating: Summary: The Best Book I've Read! Review: I'm a bookworm. I know when books are good and when they are bad. And that book was the best! When the Harry Potter book came out I got it real quick. When I read that book I was so happy to have something to read I read it day and night. a thing like that was just to good to put down. Its really exiting if you read the 4th book first. I suggest that you read the 1st one first though so you know where it takes place, who the characters are, and just whats going on.
Rating: Summary: Just keeps getting better! Review: Often, sequels don't hold a candle to the books that preceed them. This is an exception to the rule. Rowling has done yet another excellent job of following up great with better than great. Without giving the plot away, Harry is again faced with danger to overcome that does not step anywhere near the realm of monotony. Rowling's imagination is boundless and unpredictable, every chapter leaves you chomping at the bit for what's coming in the next one. New characters are introduced into a seamless genre developed and adhered to by all four books. The characters that we already know remain true to their natures yet are every bit as unpredictable as they have ever been. The author has again masterfully blended human motivation, humor, intrigue, suspense and imagination in a 700+ page book you'll wish was double in size. If you haven't read the previous three, Rowling does an excellent job of referencing and briefly explaining occurrences in all previous books so you're not left wondering and not too elaborately to bore you if you have. However, missing out on the first three books and just reading this one is a form of self-deprivation I would not recommend. For the moment, I'm glad Harry's adventures have paused for a year, if there was a new Harry Potter book released once a week, I'd never get any work done. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Do I Detect an Error? Review: Once again J. K. Rowling has enchanted us of all ages with her Harry Potter Book IV. However, as a dedicated Hogwarts watcher, I was mystified to see that Harry's father's image appeared before Lily Potter when the brother wands met creating the Reversal Curse. It was my understanding from previous books in the series that James Potter was killed by Lord Voldemort (I, like Harry and Dumbledore, believe in stating his name) BEFORE he killed Harry's mum! Therefore, shouldn't Lily have appeared to Harry BEFORE James? Just a bit of trivia for the HP devotees! It in no way stopped me from devouring the book and looking forward to many re-reads, as well as listening to the audiotapes, while I impatiently await Book V.
