I am a 49 year old adult who enjoys good literature...written for adults, or children...period. This book certainly qualifies. It is the most intense book of the series and its 734 pages was anything but long. I've read books with less than 300 pages that seemed like virtual tomes compared to the Goblets of Fire. A pure delight from beginning to end. Now, a recommendation...if you enjoy this sort of fantasy...be you adult, or child...read anything written by John Bellairs. I discovered his books over 10 years ago, and until Ms. Rowling appeared on the scene, few writers (in my opinion) had come close to attaining the level of intelligent and entertaining story telling as John Bellairs. Unfortunately, Mr. Bellairs died a few years ago, but he has left a large number of his works behind. Any of them will be well worth your time. They are all much shorter in length than the Harry Potter series, which may appeal to some readers and are all available in paperback...much less expensive. Take a look, why don't you? You won't be sorry.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: THE BEST BOOK IN THE SERIES! Review: I bought Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire the day it cameout and for the next two days until I finished it, I experiencedmystery, great suspense, magic and an overall great story. This is by far the best book in the series because this story is more exciting and even a little scary! J.K. Rowling manages to inject some humor into the story as well. That's not to say that the others aren't all these things too! The first 3 books are also some of the best I have ever read. They just keep getting better and better! I can't wait until the fifth one comes out!

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Review: When I picked up Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire for the first time, I was overjoyed, thinking that this time, it was long enough that I would be able to take a nice long time reading it, so that I would have less days to wait for a brand new Harry Potter book to read. I was very, very wrong. I finished the book in less than one day, because once I started I could not stop. I have considered J.K. Rowling an outstanding writer ever since I first read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, but she did even better with this 4th book, something I did not think possible. With many of the books I read, I find myself counting pages until the end, but with this book, I was so hooked that I never wanted it to be over. It is considerably darker and more frightening than the other 3 books, but it is still humourous in many parts, and very exciting.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Best of the series, but . . . Review: I thought that this book was the best of the four to date;however, I felt that, especially in light of the criticisms from the"right" - Rawlings could have substituted her use of "damn" for another less controversial word. This appeared several times in the text and I thought that teachers reading this book aloud to their classes may stumble over it . . . in addition, one part has a wizard refusing to wear "muggle" trousers because he likes to feel the wind "between his privates." - I'm no prude, but I hardly think this is appropriate for the lower ages experiencing this series.I also was a bit disappointed with the beginning - I look forward to how Harry is going to give the Dursley's their comeuppance before going off to Hogwarts. This one didn't deliver as the other three did on that point. All in all, the story was deeper and more involved, darker, richer and more satisfying. Several plot developments easily lend themselves to the next in the series (S.P.E.W. for example, was never resolved.) At this point in the Harry Potter phenomenon, a good or bad review will not make much difference. I'm elated that 9 and 10 year olds (on summer holiday no less) are trudging a tome of over 700 pages. That, in itself, is truly amazing.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: "Goblet of Fire" - better than dessert! Review: J.K. Rowling does it again. Goblet of Fire, book 4 in the Harry Potter series, is as engaging and thrilling as its three predecessors. I have read many books in series by other authors and have always found that sequels never quite achieve the novelty and excitement of the first book in the series. Not so with Harry Potter. Each book in the story is fresh, introducing new characters and situations involving Harry and his extraordinary friends. Many have said that this book is "darker" and not as appropriate for children as the previous three. I believe that the story line merely reflects Harry's entrance into adolecence. As an adult I find these books refreshing, captivating and a phenomenal read. I have finally turned the book over to my 9 year old who unfortunately had to wait for me to finish before starting "her" book! For those of you who may be interested, this book and series provide a literary banquet. Happy Reading Muggles!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Adults will love Harry Potter too! Review: J.K. Rowling continues to amaze me: who could have ever predicted that anybody would ever get children to read a book over 700 pages long? I read it myself in a single sitting one night, and ended the book in a rage! How long am I going to have to wait for the next one? The books just keep coming out at the same level of intense imagination, and each one exceeds my already high expectations from the last. As an aspiring writer for children and teenagers myself, I can only hope the publishing world wakes up and realizes (as it used to, back in the fifties and sixties) that children want to be challenged and amazed. I can hardly wait until my 3-year old daughter is old enough to have me read these to her. Fortunately, that's only a few years away. And by then, Ms. Rowling should have all seven Harry Potter books finished, and my daughter won't have to wait like the rest of us!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A Thrilling Book for Most All* Review: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is a wonderful example ofchildren's fantasy and one of my all-time favorites. J.K. Rowling issimply amazing; she always keeps me thinking, and you never know what you're going to expect. The story goes like this: Harry Potter is a wizard-in-training who is well-known for a tagic accident that he survived, but his parents didn't. He goes to one of the the magic-teaching school called Hogwarts in England. This year a Triwizard Contest is taking place, where 3 students, (one from each of the 3 major magic schools) are chosen from a Goblet of Fire, to compete for The Triwizard Cup. The Goblet mysteriously chooses Harry Potter's name to compete. The rest of the book is about Harry and the contest, and an unplanned confrontation with Voldemort- the most feared Dark Wizard. This is an unforgetable book that cannot be missed. Just make sure to read the 3 other Harry Potter books first. I'm sure you'll love it, and become another Harry fan! *Due to the popularity of these books, many younger kids have read them. They are very good books for most everyone, but I have to admit they can be kinda scary. I suggest that children under 9 should read it with their parents or wait till they are older. This is a wonderful and fantastic read, as long as you undertand that it is all fantasy. Have Fun Reading!
