Rating: Summary: READ THIS BOOK! Review: I have to say that this was the best Harry Potter book yet, except for maybe "The Chamber of Secrets". It was well-written, and darker than the others in the series.I liked the new characters introduced in the book (e.g. Bill and Charlie Weasly, Bagman, Crouch, Karkaroff, Madame Maxime, Fleur Delacour, Cedric Diggory, Viktor Krum, Winky the House Elf, Rita Skeeter, etc.), and the continuation of characters from the third book (Sirius, Cho, etc.). They made the book more interesting. This book was kind of depressing, but still good. I really liked the Triwizard Tournament, that was really cool, but I missed Quidditch. Still, the Tournament did a good job of making up for it. Anyway, read this book! (Oh - and if you think that Neville will join Voldemort, please vote this review as helpful.)
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Review: A pivotal point in Harry's life and without a doubt the best of the series. Suspenseful, humorous, and frightening all at the same time. She surprises the reader at every turn with new developments. Whatever you do, don't read this one first. This book is much more enjoyable if you know everything that has happened to Harry in his previous three years at Hogwarts.
Rating: Summary: um.. hi Review: this is the best book in the series i got it at midnight and read it all that night. i was up till 6 in the morning
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter... Review: Heya mateys! = ) Er, a little down there are some spoilers on the book, so... I read a lot, and I mean a LOT! I read the Hobbit along with the Lord of the Rings and The Silmarillion when I was in second grade, along with a ton of other fantasy books after that - including Brian Jaques's Redwall series, the Enchanted Forest series, Dragonlane, the Icewind Dale and Dark Elf trilogies, other Forgotten Realms books, most of the King Arthur tales, the Taran series (don't remember the real name of it... I just know it includes The Book of Three, the Castle of Lyr, the Cauldron of something, Taran Wanderer, etc...), the Earthsea series, and a bunch of other books lying around... Most of them have been more medieval fantasy books, so I was kinda reluctant to read Harry Potter cause it seemed a little childish in some ways... But my dad convinced me to read the first chapter, and then I was hooked, I let him read it to me (er, mentioning that I usually read it on my own secretly...) and we pre-ordered the 2nd, 3rd and 4th ones! It has great characters, great descriptions and it was a perfect combination of mystery and comedy, with great suspense... The 4th one I have to admit was different, having a little more terror in it than usual. I wasn't surprised at all when she did the usual looks-like-it's-one-person-but-is-someone-totally-different - and should I mention that it was usually someone Harry trusted? I have to say that the 4th one was kinda, er, *looking for right words*, different... And dissapointing, considering that there's no quidditch *gasp!* This book seemed to, well, go on slowly.. I mean, she usually does have 2-3 different stories and then brings them together in a perfect ending, but this one, well, didn't seem to have a perfect ending. It was nice at the beggining, but just began to drag on in the middle (nearing the end), and you kinda just needed her to get on with it, and then you kinda feel like she just left the ending hanging. LOL, I dunnno how to explain it, but it seemed rather an abrubt ending, considering that the rest (including the Triwizard Tournament) just dragged along slowly... Otherwise it (and the other three) were great books! They're some of the best I've read! I didn't know HP was that popular when I moved here (to Venezuela), yet I found banners of it hanging around the school - and I can't even start to count the number of people asking me to borrow the 3 books (I had them early) *grin* And now instead of endlessly re-reading the Bellmaker, the Long Patrol, Marlfox, Flint the King, Brothers Majere and those others I usually spend the two months before the next book comes out re-reading the others for clues and hints to make sure I don't miss a thing! OK, I guess I've wrote enough... Hehe... All I can say is that I can't wait for the next... 3... I'm still shocked when I hear that there are only 3 more coming, they shoulda make her a longer contract... = ( Mallory Law
Rating: Summary: The Best Yet! Review: Harry Potter IV takes an amazing leap forward in complexity and intricacy compared to the first three in the series, but does it a level appropriate for the targeted age level. Kids that read the Harry Potter series and, especially, the forth book, are getting both a great story and a phenomenal education in english, in grammar and in how to write a story. By making reading appealing to so many kids, J.K. Rowling has done children one of the best favors that they will ever get. Hats off to her (and to Harry Potter!).
Rating: Summary: Let your inner child out! Review: I work at the public libary in my city, so Harry Potter is a HUGE deal to us right now. What I absolutely love is that these books allow me to become a child again and relive those magical experiences. The looks on the kids' faces that come into the library, hoping there is a copy of the latest Harry Potter book on the hold shelf for them is heartbreaking and exciting at the same time. I, like a lot of the reviewers, felt this book was the best so far....mainly due to it's narrative and style. I cried (no joke) at the end because I realized it was over and I would have to wait for #5 to come out. I felt better, though, when I realized I could just re-read and re-read the other books as much as I want. Thank you to JK Rowling for making my inner child happy!
Rating: Summary: Her Best Yet! Review: I tried not to hold out hope that the 4th book could top the 3rd, but JK Rowling has done it again. This book is phenomenal. I read the last 200 pages straight through and could not put it down. She is masterful at introducing new "magical concepts" early in the book and then using them later to advance the story. I thouroughly loved this book and can't wait for the 5th!
Rating: Summary: J.K. gives her fans what they want and then some.... Review: Okay, here's just my own personal lil review: Setting: Excellent. She describes the wizardry world with much imagination and invention. Plot: Complex, humorous and engaging. Though a lil too much emphasis in the Quiditch Cup parts. It felt like Rowling was trying to cram in every important and past wizard or witch they had met or are haven't met in the Ministry of Magic and wizarding world. But I guess she was just trying to get everyone familiar again with the characters or something...Conclusion: Nice lil cliffhanger and surprise. Rowling knows how to keep her readers perfectly hooked Overall: I would not recommend this book to someone under nine or ten due to language and some very dark parts of the book. But for everyone over those ages, GO GET IT! Y'all love it!
Rating: Summary: Its good Review: I've heard some talk saying the the Harry Potter books are evil and satanic because it talks about magic, witches, wizards ect. People that believe this are WRONG. They are all good books that speak nothing of the devil or hell. Rest asure your child is not going to join satan's army if he or she reads this book or the other 3.
Rating: Summary: simply amazing! Review: Ok, let me start this out like some sort of AA meeting. Hi, my name is Mike, I'm 19 and...and...I LOVE The Harry Potter series! Ever since I picked up the first book, I've been hooked to it! I was one of the ones that couldn't wait for the 4th book. That long wait for it seemed like an eternity! Then Finally...it was released! I went to a book store a couple day after to pick it up, and to my horror....they were sold out! I went and even checked 3 or 4 stores, all sold out! A book...sold out! I could not believe it! Finally I decided to order it off amazon. When I got it, I read it that night. I had it finished in 4 days, and for a lack of better words, it was amazing! I loved the idea of it being darker, more evil, more sinister. The story was really good, one of the best so far. You don't need to be a kid to enjoy this book, and I know many of the reviews say it, but I'm going to say it as well, if you haven't read any books in the series yet, you really should. You wont be disapointed.
