Summary: Creative, Amusing, & Sad
Review: Although I was worried after reading the first three books that this edition would not measure up, I was very impressed! 700 pages seemed like none as I was pulled throught the story. This book was far more emotional and had much more depth than the other three. It did not contain the simple magic the first book had, but Harry Potter is growing up and the books are growing up with him. The details continued to come together and make rereading the first three books even more fun!

Summary: An interested parent
Review: My daughter already had the first book in the series and when I heard all the excitement about book 4 I asked to read it to see what all the excitement was about. I read the book and decided to buy the other three books because I got interested. I am also an elementary teacher and thought it would be a good idea to know what many children are interested in. I loved the story and it is a great series of books to keep the children's interest. The one thing that would keep me from allowing the books in my classroom or encouraging my daughter to read them is the many "bad words" that are thrown in. Why would a children's author, that has this wonderful idea for literature, think that she has to include these words that many of us do not use or want our children to hear or use? I could see no reason to include these unnecessary words, and therefore would not encourage any child to read the books. I realize the majority of families use this kind of language in their homes, but I think we should be ashamed of ourselves for encouraging bad things when our children are involved. (I have marked through all the "bad words" as I was reading and suggest that all parents at least do this before handing the books over to their children.)

Summary: Stop reading reviews and read the book!
Review: I have read many books and few are as engaging and memorable as the Harry Potter novels. I have thoroughly enjoyed the series and feel that the stories just keep getting better and better! 2500+ reviews and a 5 star average - can we all be wrong? No!

Summary: how much better can you get?
Review: Harry Potter used to be unknown to me. That is, before my last birthday. I read all three books in a total of two days and I craved more. When I heard that a fourth book was coming out, I went to a book release party at the local book store, thinking that it had better be worth it. It is. Although long and greuling, it fascinates your every fantasy. My favorite chapter, Priori Incantem topped all three of the previous books put together. I recommend this book, but I advise that the first three be read first. They aren't necessary, but they tie up many loose ends. Happy Reading! :)

Summary: I am a Harry Potter Child
Review: I am what you could call a Harry Potter Child. I read the first Harry Potter when I was eleven, I am now fourteen. One thing I noticed about this series, that as more people need more stimulation in the books, they are getting darker. More people die, Harry experiences scarier things. Really, as Harry gets older, his audience gets older. What is little Harry Potter going to see when he is seventeen? How more terrible can they get? Other than that, I found the ending a little unsatisfactory, as always. J.K. Rowling has managed to leave multiple questions hanging in mid-air screaming READ THE NEXT BOOK. I thought Hermione was changing somehow with her um ...romance with Krum, the Quidditch Champion Seeker. I really liked the book though, don't misunderstand. J.K. msut have that vital mixture of humor and excitement. Only I wish the carefree Harry Potter would return. Slowly, he is being replace by a tormented teenager, full of troubles, and hiding from murderers nearly consistantly. These books need more joy.

Summary: Calling all Harry Potter Fans!
Review: All of us around the world say the same that the Harry Potter series is the best. I agree! Harry Potter has interested lots of kids into reading it,but the sad part is there is only 7 books in the series. That means after they are done we will only have to read then over & over. So all you fans out there when you read it for the first time have fun!

Summary: The most powerful, moving Harry Potter yet
Review: I recieved this book the day it was released from Amazon and I did not put it down. The book was enormous and I could not imagine that Harry could have so much happen to him in his fourth year. I managed to read this 700+ page book in 7 days and now I can not wait for the next one to come out. What a powerful, moving book! I have never enjoyed reading as much as I do now when I read these books. I have tried to get everyone that I know to get into these books because they are the most imaginative books that make you feel like you are right there in the middle of it all. I have bought all of the books in the series in hopes that my 6 year old daughter will read them one day. Thank you so much Ms. Rowling for your wonderful work...You are amazing!

Summary: NOT A CLASSIC
Review: I am so tired of hearing how this book and all of the other Potter books are classics--they are not classics--classics all have the earmark of a strong ethical message which every one of these books lack. Moreover the character development is nonexistent. What do I mean by that? A well developed character is one that has depth, that shows many, often contradictory traits--like a REAL human being. Look at Draco Malfoy, look at Hermony Grainger--when do they ever show any differentiation from the characters they were originally portrayed as--NEVER! Do not mention these books in the same breath as Lewis or Tolkein--they bear absolutely no resemblance. As for the fact that so many people love them--there's no accounting for taste. These books have yet to win any awards for children's literature or for fantasy or science fiction literature. AND THEY WON'T! The first book is great because it gets kids reading, but the fourth is just more of the same--so boring...our culture has reached a sad state of affairs...why don't we eat McDonald's every night, and call the Potter books classics?

Summary: Harry Potter?
Review: If you haven't read book 1, 2 and 3 then you should do so before reading this book. All previous stories and discoveries are revealed in this book. Other than the thickness of the book (hard to read in the bath tub. giggle), I LOVED IT. As I do the others. Will there be more?

Oh, this is the first book (EVER) that I cried about. (A happy cry) I love moral fiber!
