Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Not Just for Kids Review: My mother gave me the first Harry Potter book for my grandchildren. I felt I should read it first to see the content. I was hooked immediately. I haven't had so much fun with a new author in years. I read part of one of the books with a grandson and enjoyed it thoroughly. He was 9 at the time and we had a ball taking turns reading a few pages each. I am sure of Harry Potter's adventures will be as dramatic and suspenseful, with just the right ending, as the first four. I intend to give all 4 books to my other grandchildren (11 of them) for Christmas.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Fabulous Fantasy for ALL ages Review: While this book has certainly garnered it's fair share of reviews - I felt that I had to add one more. I have read all of the Harry Potter books and I simply loved number four. I have also never been stopped by so many strangers on the street to be asked about a book. It seems as tho everyone wanted to know how the book was and if I had read the previous three. I told everyone that still has an inner child to run out and buy this book (as well as the first three). JK Rowling seems to be getting better with age and experience as does Harry. She has really expanded her wings in this installment of the Harry Potter series. While the book begins exactly the same as the past three books - with Harry stuck at the Dursley's for the summer and his friends the Weasley's must rescue him so that he can go to the Quidditch world cup finals. But this is where the similarities stop and the real imagination begins. Without saying too much - this novel is (obviously) longer than the previous three and while most people were stunned at the start of the book - I think I can safely say no one wanted it to end. I would have been happy with another hundred pages. Things turn for Harry in number four - as he reaches adolescences he has to deal with all the ups and downs it brings with it, a first crush and a painful loss as well as taunting and trying to discover who he really is. This book is once again a triumph for readers of all ages. So sit down and enjoy the ride.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Finally ordered the Goblet of Fire online Review: It took me two weeks of going from bookstore to bookstore in greater Washington, DC area and hearing the same words "out of stock", "sold out" before I remembered that I could order Goblet of Fire online from Amazon. As I had read the first three books (one a day) and enjoyed them tremendously, I was really frustrated not being able to get my hands on the fourth book soon enough. It was worth the wait. Clearly with its 750+ pages, this was not a book to be read in one day (more like two and a half). Moreover, knowing that there was no fifth book available, I had to savor it. Having grown up imagining myself a witch, I enjoyed the Harry Potter books greatly. I must admit after the first three books I wished the women/young girl characters were a little more mischievous, and fun. The fourth book definitely goes farther along in that direction. Looking forward to the fifth book, but not the movie!
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Great for Potter Fans; Lots of Ammo for Critics Review: This book will not disappoint true Harry Potter fans. I did enjoy Harry's new adventures in his fourth year at Hogwarts. However, this book alone would not persuade a doubtful child or parent that the Harry Potter series is worth merit. For one reason the size is very intimidating. I can not see myself handing over a seven-hundred and thirty-four page book to a child to get them interested in reading. They would feel overwhelmed and give up after the first two chapters, possibly from fatigue at just carrying the book around. (The first book in the Harry Potter series would be better suited to get a child interested in reading) Second, the innocence of the characters is severely diminished. One might argue that they're getting older, but it just came as a big surprise to me. One such example is when Ron mentions the planet Uranus (and it's double meaning) in relation to a fellow student. I found this inappropriate for adolescent humor. Third, a house-elf in the story drowns her sorrow in a substance that works similar to alcohol. This presents an all too often seen message for depressed adolescents to turn to drugs to solve their problems. There goes all of DARE's hard work! The house-elf never deals with her sorrow and ends her part in the book sobbing uncontrollably. While Hogwarts and the whole magical world has always been filled with witches and wizards, their themes and attributes seem more pronounced in this book. More attention is given to pointed hats and the standard "witch and wizard" attributes than in previous books. The ending scene with Voldemort is very disturbing and seems to have been written for critics to focus on. Never before has a Potter book seemed close to Satanic rituals or cult-like followings. This is not true of the fourth book. I really enjoyed the development of Hermione's character. She is quickly becoming my favorite, next to Harry, that is! This critic did not let the above stop her from thoroughly enjoying the book, or waiting on bated breath for the next. (Especially the way it ended). Regardless, I can not see myself handing it over to an innocent adolescent without stopping to discuss with them during key points in the book.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: J.K. Rowling and the Books of fire Review: OK., I admit: I love to read these books, I am completely addicted. J.K. Rowling is a genius. The fourth book is the best book to date. I hope she can continue to write this series, I may become lost if something where to happen to her.In this book Harry's world becomes more complex and a lot of background information is brought out about his past. It is a fantastic journey that leaves you wanting more and thinking about the future of Harry. What I need now is book five.P.S., I, personally, do not know any children who have read these books although I would endorse them to any child. The NY Times should be ashamed at making a new section for children's books so 'adult' books can be shown in the top 10. With all respect to Daniel Steel, the Potter books are a much better read for any adult. They convey the classical literary ideals of good vs. evil, the search for truth and pure unadulterated fun. You can not say that for many of this past weeks NY Times 'adult' best sellers.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Indulging! Review: JK Rowling's **Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire** was the largest first printing in the history! And almost all of those magnificent books were read, and neatly, lovely read again... I know one person, who, after going out at midnight to buy this pivotal novel, stayed up till 7:00 AM reading it. This book has mesmerized millions of children and adults. This book was an indulging work of art; Rowling has finally portrayed these 14 year-old young adults realistically. She has also done a magical job bring the Dark Lord back, without having to complicate everything else going on, i.e. The Quittich World Cup or The Triwizard Tournament. All'in'all, I would recommend this book, to anyone, who doesn't mind picking up a book, and reading one chapter. Because in any of the books, that's all you need to read to be hooked!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: WOW! Review: What impact! What else can another author say! I had a book signing for my novel "Rapid Descent- Disaster in Boston Harbor", in a NH book store the day "Goblet" was released. My book sold well that day because the line for the latest Potter book went past my signing table! Congratulations Ms. Rowling... we should all be so fortunate. Oprah has mine and I'm patiently waiting!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The best so far Review: Though not the age these series was written for (I'm 26), I really liked all of them. And they are getting better every book! I like the 4th book most because it is a little darker, but the funny things did not disappear at all. Another reason I like the book is that it has more pages than the other 3 books, so you can stay longer in Harry's world. Can't wait for HP5!
