Review: I got hooked on Harry Potter when I was around when my sister was reading book 4 out loud to my two nieces (ages 15 and 12), and after two chapters - I knew I had to start at the beginning. I read the first 3 in less than a week - and was totaly enthralled. When it came time for book 4 - I devoured it it two days. As a high school teacher - I am convinced that anything that will get students to read is a good thing. This goes way beyond that. What Harry and his friends do is give kids a sence of what they can accomplish on their own. When it comes right down to it, Harry, Ron and company do more by thinking out a problem than by magicially making it dissappear. All in all - a wonderful series of books - and I can't wait for #5!

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Out of this World Review: Can I be so bold as to say this is better than the other three ? ... lets face it... it was, Harry Potter 4 is incredible and so so worth the wait.JK Rowlings had promised 2 incidents in this book, death and love. Both are provided, but they where so cleverly included that they did not interfere with the shocks, stuns, laughs and drama of the book. I had my own ideas on who would die, and I (like many others) was way out. Ooh well... Once again the new characters where just incredible, and the existing characters held their own and got more impressive. Mad Eye Moody is probably the best character yet to show up and he was just phenominal... I have to say the chapter when harry takes a bath and gets stuck in the stairs is with out doubt the best chapter from any of the four books. Now we have to look forward and ask questions about book 5... the ending of the Goblet of Fire leaves so many doors open, but we can rest assured that we will find more surprises, thrills and spills. As a side not, on a recent trip to England I picked up the English release and was disappointed about how poorly it was presented, could you imagine Harry Potter without Mary Grandpre !

I started to borrow the books from my neighbor, who really liked the books. I read them, and I SWEAR that I could NOT put it down. J.K. Rowling has succeeded in what many authors have failed in doing. Providing quality entertainment that appeals to everybody. And she did an excellent job, too. Pick up ANY of the Harry Potter books, and you will NOT be disappointed, whether you're 10 years old, or 100 years old. I'm 17, and I didn't think I would be interested in these books at first, but trust me, it will be the best time of your life, and you will NOT be disappointed. :)
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Wonderful Book Review: Ms. Rowling has really outdone herself this time. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire has made me laugh, cry, quiver in fear, and most of all, think. With exceptional detail, i actually thought i was in the book's world of Wizards, Witches and Elves. The book starts out when Harry is at the Dursley's house. Suprisingly, he gets a letter from Ron saying that Ron's Father got tickets to the Quidditch World cup and wondering if Harry would like to come. Harry of course excepts, and after a comical scene in the Dursley's chimney (yes, the Weasleys used Floo Powder)they're off. I would recommend this to everybody, but especially to previous Harry Potter fans. The only downside to the book is that it seems to slightly drag on (after all, it does have about 750 pages) with details, but basically, it is a GREAT book.

First, I vowed to savor each chapter with the kids and not read ahead (as I did with HP3, racing ahead to finish the book in two evenings, and then re-reading with the kids). Second, we would analyze all of the clues that Rowling plants throughout the story and attempt to come closer to figuring out how JKR was going to surprise us at the end. As it turns out, I did not read ahead, and we did very well with reading a chapter or two a night to prolong the pleasure of enjoying Book Four as long as possible...until we reached Chapter 29. At this point, we abandoned all self-discipline and raced through the remaining chapters in two three-hour sessions! We also failed miserably in figuring out the surprise ending(s). It is amazing how Rowling places the clues so subtly; we have already starting re-reading particular chapters to see how different things seem now that we know the ending. The book definitely measures up to everything we were expecting! It is so enjoyable to share the story with my kids -- we each feel that we know the characters so very well now, and we laugh out loud at Hagrid's blast-ended skrewts, become indignant as Malfoy insults Ron's mother, and feel pangs of fear as Harry faces seemingly impossible odds. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to become absorbed in a superb story, especially if you can share it with your kids! The Goblet of Fire (and other Potter books) are great examples to children of storytelling at its best (not to mention the wonderful lessons of bravery, facing fear, loyalty, etc. etc.) It will be a long wait for Book Five...but we are sure it will be worth the wait once again.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Magic and Mystery Review: The Harry Potter books are the best books in the world. They're clever, magical, and there's something in them for everyone. There's Quidditch, with four balls and broomsticks, and magical classes. In this newest book, they're again at Hogwarts, this time for a compitition that hasn't happened for a hundred years, The Quidditch World Cup, new challenges and surprises, and the mysterious Goblet of Fire, as well as two rival magic schools. Harry Potter fans will love this book, and so will everyone else- just read the books in order. I loved these books-they're really great.

This is becoming a tense saga, and is nicely paced and well-executed. Each book is exciting and interesting on its own merits, and there is a greater payoff when you read all of them. What a joy to read something like this!

I figured I didn't need to be reading children's books, no matter what the content. But now I'm hooked. The Goblet of Fire was the best yet so I assume they're just going to keep getting better. I am amazed by Rowling's creation. These books are so clever and I'm amazed she has more to give! These books should be read by everyone, young and old. This book gave more depth and maturity to these growing kids and left me wanting to open the next one right away. I don't know what I'll do for the next year without Harry and Hogwarts!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Don't listen to others! Listen to me! It wasn't too long! Review: So many others around the world are saying that the goblet of fire should have been cut shorter by 200 pages. J.K. Rowling is an excellent author, and the way she has stunned the world proves it. The book was written carefully and beautifully, every page counting and making an impact. It wasn't too long at all, in my opinion it was too short in length. The length of the book was a strength, not a weakeness, it only prolonged the thrill of the magic story. I only hope that Ms. Rowling keeps her beautiful work up! THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL WORK WITH THE WORLD AND I!
