Summary: The plot thickens...so does the book
Review: SPOILERS AHEAD! This is perhaps Rowling's most intense and exciting book (thus far, as I haven't read Order of the Phoenix yet). She introduces more characters, more plot lines, and reveals more background story. The story itself gets darker, as Voldemort comes to play a bigger role, and ultimately comes back fully by the end of the book. The premise of this book, however, is that there is a joint tournament between Hogwarts and two other schools, and Harry Potter was inadvertently entered as a competitor, and was chosen to compete. While having to figure out how to live through the tournament that was really designed for older students, he also has to dodge a series of sinister plots against him.

But perhaps more significantly, in this book, the characters grow up. They are more aware of each other as emotional beings, and, in addition to Voldemort, have to face the challenges of rivalry, puberty, and growing up. Rowling interweaves these into the plot without making it seem too burdensome or deliberate to the reader.

(Spoiler Alert!) The plot is, of course, not without its flaws. Perhaps the biggest one is that I didn't really find it believable that Crouch would go out of the way to have the Triwizard Cup tournament turned into a Portkey. It seems way to elaborate and unnecessary. If he had an Invisibility Cloak handy, couldn't he have just turned Harry Potter's textbook, or Firebolt into the Portkey and not worry about whether he'd beat the first two tasks, and be the first to touch the Triwizard Cup? I guess, for me, it's one thing to believe in wizards and magic, it's another thing to read about stupid characters.

Barring this problem, it was an enjoyable read. The pages flew by, and the story unfolded with good pacing. I like the way Rowling doesn't forget the previous books, and leave readers wondering why the characters didn't use what they learned in previous years. Except, of course, why didn't they use the time necklace thing in the last book to save lives this time? I wish Rowling had addressed that.

My favorite part of the 4th book is the beginning that chapter is the best. And one of the best things of all the series of harry potter is the weasleys twins they rock! they are so funny...and another thing i loved is Rita Skeeter being a beetle. I just love harry potter...

Summary: Don't let critics full you!
Review: I was told that book 4 would be the slowest and most boring of all five. I even read a critics review and it was completely misleading. It was a REALLY good book and I enjoyed every minute of it. I'm sure you will to. If you're not into the Quidditch game, then the beginning might be a little slow. Once you've read the first few chapters, then the fun beings. Keep in mind though that a lot happens in those chapters that help predict the end.

Summary: Abrupt Ending
Review: The plot was clever though the ending was quite abrupt. I dindn't expect Ms. Rowling would end the book that easily. The entire mystery of the book was unfolded in a single chapter and the way it was unfolded was an easy way out. I was kind of expecting something more clever and more profound than what she used to reveal everything. In spite of that, it was very entertaining, especially if you're the type who grew up with the characters. It would certainly keep your eyes glued to it for hours.

Summary: MY FAVORATE ONE OF ALL 5! from a casual reader
Review: This book really convinced me to buy all the other Harry potter bOoks. I had listened to the other books on tape from the library but a friend actually let me borrow this book> it was my favoarate from the series. I do not think anything could have topped it off..or so far has. I could not put it down and i would literally read one hundred pages at a time. it was a great feel good book, yet adventurous, and definetly appealed to ALL ages.( since im not in the average young child age group). It was a great investment. i was not lost after a couple years time gap> it truly was great.

Summary: Excellent, another Rowling winner!!
Review: Okay, I'll admit. I wasn't going to pick up this book. I was one of the few people not completely thrilled by book #3 (at the end of 2002) and thought I would stay away from Harry Potter and read this closer to the release of book 5. However, my lovely wife bought me a copy for Christmas and since I had a little spare time on my hands, I went ahead and read it.

To be honest, the first half of the book I wondered why I was putting away my studies for this book. It took Harry Potter that long to finally get to school, much less really get into the main plot of the story. It just seemed to drag on and on and on all surrounding a Quidditch match that Harry wasn't even in. Sure, it gave us a good introduction to many key figures, even for book 5, but I thought it could have been shortened a lot.

But after arriving at Hogwarts and the drawing of Harry's name from the Goblet of Fire... things REALLY pick up. For the rest of the book, I just could not put it down.

I loved it. It was fantastic and a brilliant read. Harry begins to become a great wizard in this book. And that is when I love reading Harry Potter the most, is when Harry is learning the craft and becoming the person that will fulfill his destiny (as later learned in book 5).

Dispite the first half of the book (which I docked a star for), this is a great book. If you've read the other three books, there is no reason to pick up this book. I didn't regret reading it. If you haven't read any of the other books, pick up book one (or where you've left off) and enter the wonderful world created by JK Rowling that is full of imagination and wonderful storytelling.

Summary: Greatest Adventure Yet
Review: Fourth year and still a great series. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is worth a midnight wait.

It starts out with Harry having a dream...or was it a dream? After the "dream", Harry wakes up to find that his scar is hurting again. He receives a letter from his best friend, Ron Weasley, who has invited him to his home, The Burrow, and also to the Quidditch World Cup, taking place in England. During the World Cup, Harry meets new people, and experiences Quidditch in a professional way. But other more darker and stranger events take place in the night, as the Dark Lord supporters known as Death Eaters attack muggles, and a symbol is sent into the sky by an unknown wizard or possibly a elf. When he arrives at Hogwarts he finds out that Quidditch is cancelled this year, but a 100 year old wait has ended. The Triwizard Tournament is back. A student from each school, Hogwarts, Durmstrang, and Beauxbatons are to compete in a contest. But more than one person is selected from Hogwarts, Cedric Diggory and none else than Harry Potter. How could someone have tricked the Goblet of Fire? But the biggest mystery is not who or how, but why.

As before, it was definately worth waiting at the midnight release. The longest book so far, is also the best in the series so far. More mysteries are found this year than previous, and the biggest shocker is of course the ending. To all those that plan to read this book, pay very close attention to the chapter titled Veritserum, and the chapters following it. But Veritserum is the most important chapter, so read very closely to every detail.

Summary: Great!
Review: Goblet of Fire by J.K.Rowling is the fourth book of the Harry Potter series. It is interesting and fun with scariness. Such a great book for children and adults!

Summary: Just finished the book
Review: Although I probably found Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Akzaban to be a little bit more enjoyable than this 4th book....I still loved it and stayed up until 3am to finish it. This volume is somewhat "darker" than the previous books and as an adult (but kid at heart) I liked the plot including Harry's relationship with his Godfather, Sirius Black to the new instructor of "Dark Magic", Professor Moody and his magical eye. The book begins with the Quidditch World Cup- which is the slowest part of the book but as you read on you understand the importance- I don't want to give away the story but you have all your casts of regulars, and of course Snape and his hatred towards Harry ever deepening. Romance plays a part from Harry to Hermoine and instead of Harry being involved in a Quidditch match there is a wizard competition amongst other schools (Triwizard Cup) that involves dangerous tasks and Lord Voldermort on the rise. By midway you really can not put the book down, I became so concerned for Harry, and Hogswarts that I was relieved there is a 5th book and know they must all be back. Again Rowling's creative mind is hard at work- you will love the book and is a must for any Harry Potter fan- even us grown ups.

Summary: WOW!
Review: I am continually amazed by J.K. Rowling - her imagination and her writing. I cannot say enough good things about this series! The fourth installment, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" follows Harry through his fourth year at Hogwarts. In this book, Hogwarts is hosting the Triwizard Tournament, and of course Harry has new challenges he must face. Like all of the other Harry Potter books, there are unexpected surprises that knock you off guard.

I think that all of the Harry Potter books are fabulous. This book is a bit darker than the previous 3, but is still a wonderful tale. It's a great page-turner and is entertaining through the whole story. I can't wait to start the 5th book.
