Rating: Summary: Kids can handle it! Review: This is a wonderful novel, and as the books progress I see each one getting better and better! I also see J.K. Rowling getting less fearful when writing each novel, if she wants to say "damn" in the novel she'll say "damn"! As far as children go I see this as no problem for them to handle. One reviewer tried to break it down to show what HORRIBLE things this was trying to teach our children, but how many 4th, 5th, and 6th graders do you know that can break down a novel and decide what it is trying to teach them? Look at "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", some people might interpret that as teaching children to steal, but that's not the underlying idea behind it, just as lying, stealing, and performing unacceptable behavior are not here! This novel is part of a series, and interpretation should be limited until all 7 books have been released! The only thing I do caution is the end might be a little frightening for young children, but if that really bothers you that much, don't let it! You'll really enjoy this book and so will your kids! And chances are if your kid becomes a thief or liar I'll bet anything it has nothing to do with Harry Potter!
Rating: Summary: An Intriging Book Series Review: I think that each and every one of Rowling's books are fabulous. She has true talent. This book, number IV, has been my favorite of the series so far. I am waiting anxiously for the V book. I know it will be just as wonderful. I just want to say that while people have a right to voice their opinions, I think that it's very idiotic and immature to claim that Rowling's books are unsuitable for impressionable children, for fear that they might pick up on the witchcraft. I believe that all of the parents who think this need to trust their children and themselves. If they believe that they cannot teach their children that witchcraft is not realist or moral, then they are not ready to be parents. I also believe that the witchraft that the characters use in these books is not evil or scary. Children should know that it's all in fun. The people who think that these wonderful books are evil or promote lying, cheating, or stealing, should find a new book series. May I recommend Dr. Suess?
Rating: Summary: The Most Enchanting Book Series! Review: I can't say enough. Harry Potter Rules! Anytime I feel like going on an enchanted ride. I read a Harry Potter Book. Now, I need the next one! What to do? I'm reading many other great novels...but Harry takes me where no other book has gone before. The author is magnificent...the imagination is incredible. I recommend this series to all ages. It is fun, entertaining and spellbinding.
Rating: Summary: The best of all the Harry Potters!! Review: This book has so many twists and turns that you won't be able to put it down. Therefore I give you an advice:don't start reading this book in the evening,I,for example ended up staying up till 6am!I've read the book for 4 times already, and it only keeps getting better. J.K.Rowling has an imagination you can only envy. All the little things(like the paper with three sides)are well-thought and clever. But the most important things in "The Goblet of the Fire" are -naturally- the plot, the humour and the characters of the people in it. You-Know-who is of course back, and this time for real.We learn quite a lot of Harry,Dumbledore,Snape and all the others. The only problem I have is:how on earth will I survive until the next book?
Rating: Summary: A lovely and lengthy book Review: Like the previous three novels, JK Rowling does an excellent job on illustrating the fourth year of Harry's Hogwarts life. However, it is sitting at the same level of a reader's enjoyment but it is about 400 pages longer than the other. Perhaps too long.
Rating: Summary: Great for teens & adults, but caution with the younger set.. Review: J.K. Rowling has developed a great story line and unforgettable characters with the Harry Potter series. Each book brings us deeper and deeper into the strange, wacky, and sometimes scary world of young Harry. The fourth year at Hogwarts, however, has lost something - that feeling of youthful innocence. Harry and his friends are starting to feel the pull of the opposite sex, and they all have dates for the Yule Ball, a beautiful dancing extravaganza at Christmas time. But the high point of the book involves the death of a prominent student, and some very scary imagery with regards to the "Dark Arts". This book is, again, fantastic for the older set, especially adults, but, please, parents, counsel your younger ones strongly if you choose to let them read this one!
Rating: Summary: A Review for HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE Review: This book is really good. I am reading it again, and I have read it many times already. All of J.K Rowling's books are good, but this is one of the best. My other favorite is HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS. My favorite characters are Ginny, Hermione, Dobby, and Lord Voldemort. I like Lord Voldemort because he is so evil. If you have not read this book yet, you should.
Rating: Summary: The best yet Review: This is a great book. I have been a fan of the series, mainly for the way that it reminds me of being a kid, for recapturing that sense of wonder that you begin to lose upon entering high school and consider completely gone by the time you earn your BA. This book was different. Yes, it still fills me with that sense of wonder, tickles me with clever and fun-sounding names, and makes me nostalgic for childhood. But there is a dark element to this book that the adult in me found deeply satisfying. Rowling is on top of her game in this book, and if the progression of these books is any indication, I would say that the next one is going to be utterly amazing. Rowling has crafted an intriguing story, a host of fascinating characters (some old favorites, some new), and has done it all with a magical zest that is irresistable. She deserves all the praise she has received, and more. Anyone who can make children this excited about reading deserves an award!
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter is a Must Read Review: One of the best books that I've ever read is Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. It is part of a series by J.K. known as the Harry Potter series. This is the fourth book in a series of seven. This book is the best book in the series. It is a fiction book with a parallel dimension in which there are witches and wizards. It is about an infant, named Harry Potter, who's parents get kill by an evil wizard named Voldamort. Harry is forced to go to his aunts and uncles house in the other dimension. They treat him poorly because they know that he is a wizard and they don't like wizards. Then at age 10 he goes to a school for wizards only. The same wizard that tried to kill his parents is still trying to kill him. This is a book that adults and children will love. It is about 700 pages so it will take most people a while to finish. It is extremely descriptive of the characters and the setting. Everything in the book seems so realistic while still being fictional. The book seams to never have a boring moment in it. Harry Potter has to steal eggs from a dragon and do all sorts of cool things like This is one of the most original books that has ever been written. This book is a must read. The only reason anyone could doubt reading this book, would be because it's fictional. Some people may not like fiction books. It seems like it could be real, but it's not. Even though, there is so much action and description, there is never a boring moment. The magic spells in this book are so creative. There is a spell called a hex spell that make a person purple and grow tentacles out of their head. This book has so many interesting events and spell no one can possibly not want too read this book.
Rating: Summary: Sparks from the Wand Review: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, by J.K. Rowling, is an excellent book with action and adventure. This is the fourth book in the Harry Potter series and continues the story of his life. A dark wizard, who everyone calls "you-know-who," has kill his parents but his real name is Lord Voldermort. Harry, a thirteen-year-old boy, is a wizard in training. In his younger years, or in the last 3 books, Harry has overpowered Lord Voldermort in one-on-one wand battles numerous times and the dark lord is back for revenge. When Harry arrives at his magical school Hogwarts, he finds out The Triwizard Tournament is in order. Harry is mysteriously chosen to be in the tournament as a fourth competitor when competitors are supposed to be older than 18. In the last task of the tournament, a hedge maze, harry boldly confronts some fatal spells and a fire-breathing lizard. When he reaches the center of the maze, he is transported to Lord Voldermort! The plot of the book is great. It is in the perfect order and is impossible to put the book down. Every time something spectacular or surprising happens, you force yourself to keep reading. There are some really superb parts in this book. Harry's fight with the dragon is really thrilling. The dragon is spewing fireballs everywhere and Harry is dodging them all by a hairs length. He finally, after much effort, out wits the dragon and retrieves the golden egg. When I read it, I loved it so much and kept on reading for hours on end. For all you magic fanatics, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is the book for you. Some people might think the story goes too fast, but the story goes at an easy-to-read speed. Not so fast that you get lost and confused and not so slow that you get bored. It doesn't overly describe or get boring any time. When I read this book, it changed my perspective on reading. After I read it, I read so many books. Read it, and it might change your perspective too. If you don't like fantasy books, this book will make you want to read them even more. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is diffidently the book for you so buy, read, and enjoy!
