Rating: Summary: What can I say?... Review: I have read a review from "A reader from USA" advising people that this is a terrible book without a storyline that should be avoided. This, in my opinion (and, obviously, 99.9% of the population's) is total rubbish. This is a wonderful book with an amazing storyline. It's by far the best of all (so far!) and a must-read for everybody. J.K. Rowling again draws you into Harry's world: the ups, and downs. Be warned, however, if you want a lily-white book where nothing goes wrong, don't look for it in this one: there are lots of "downs". The last chapter is called "The Beginning". All I can say is this: if Harry's story has only just started, we'd better get prepared for many more late nights, and many more detentions for reading under the desk in class.
Rating: Summary: Its time to Remeber a World of Imagination Review: I am 15 years old and live in Greece my sister (21 yrs old) one day decided to buy me the 4th book of the Harry Potter series. For the past three days i had exams and yet found the time to read this great book. If u think it is just a lame book for kids think again. The book is a portal of fantasy i had forgotten all about fantasy yet i cant wait for the 5th book of the series to come out. The book presents and very comforting mix of action, plot and frienship. The setting is magical if u liked the books relating to the land of Narnia (The Lion, the witch and the waredrobe) you will like this ten times more. Rowling creates a world which is in the range of possibility and the reader's mind trully can fly to a magical world which can be possible to some extent. I recommend you read it a book of all ages and races a book for you to remember friends and the magical thoughts you once thought.
Rating: Summary: An Adult Succumbs to Potter-mania Review: Having read Books 1-3, I am more than ready to tackle Book 4 despite it's length. And I must say that the series reminds of the great books of my youth, including Narnia and A Wrinkle in TIme. But even adults can learn something. My father died 2 years ago. Harry's relationship with his parents resonates with me, especially in the story line of Book 3. In case you've forgotten about your loves and your losses, read Harry Potter. PS - I think that Ms. Rowling owes us Yanks a translation of certain terms and ideas into American. I find it hard to believe that Americans really understand the system at Hogwarts!
Rating: Summary: Words cannot describe... Review: When I finished the last page of 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire', I could only close the book and sit stunned. I am 16 years old and started reading Harry Potter out of my own curiosity. I finished the first three within two weeks and it did not take me long to figure out that these were no 'kid' books as I had thought. Before I even began to tackle the monster fourth novel, I already knew that Rowling had cast a magical spell over me with words. I prowled through the halls of Hogwarts with Harry, Ron, and Hermione. I zoomed through the skies on my Firebolt. I avoided evil professors such as Snape. I won't spoil the plot of the fourth novel for you, but Harry and Voldemort meet to duke it out again. And it's far far more serious than anything that has happened so far. Although the book was 734 pages, I never got bored and I never wanted it to end. Considerably darker than the easy-going first novel, 'Goblet of Fire' delves into the more complicated themes of good vs. evil, self-sacrifice, and forgiveness. A word of warning, though, if you have not read the first three novels upon reading this book, you will not enjoy it to its fullest extent. The connecting plot structures between the different books are absolutely astonishing. I can't wait for book five.
Rating: Summary: This is a great book. Review: This book is a great one. It is a book about magic. Muggles are people who don't care for magic and that is what Harry's horrible Aunt and Uncle are. So Harry can't wait to get back to Hogwarts Witchcraft & Wizardry (the magic school he goes to). Then when he gets back,he somehow gets entered in a special event where you have to be in your seventh year to enter ( Harrys only in his fourth year). The event is called the Triwizard Cup. You have to do three tasks and if you get the most points you win 10,000 Gaelons (a lot of wizard money). If you read this book you'll see how magical it really is.
Rating: Summary: The best in the series so far!! Review: This was the best of all! J.K. Rowling says she rushed herself in writing it, but you can't tell at all. Harry is in his fourth year, but don't count on any Quidditch...this year, it's the Triwizard Tournament. This book has more excitement than the first three books combined, and the ending will send a chill up your spine. It's a must-read.
Rating: Summary: The best one yet Review: Just as I think that J.K. Rowling cannot pull me in any further, she tops it with this book. I found it to be the most interesting, most well-written of the bunch. Not once was I bored, in fact, I groaned whenever I had to put the book down. Although it's lengthy, the reading time flies by. In fact, I read it within less than one week. The ending was surprising, and the development of the characters was much better than the last three. I am looking forward to reading the next installments of Harry Potter series. I only hope they can top the suspense, intrigue and overall superbness of this book!
Rating: Summary: The best in the series. Review: This is the thickest volume so far in the series of adventure of Harry Potter, and what an adventure it is! J.K. Rowling returned to her best form in taking us through the magical world of Harry Potter. Personally, I felt that the first three books were too similar and if J.K. Rowling would continue the same formula in the fourth book, this outstanding series might lose my interest. It appeared that my worry was unjustified, though, because while there are some familiar events from previous books, most of the events in this book are new and more exciting than ever. Now that Harry was four years older than when we first know him, he started to develop teenager's problems, e.g. love and jealousy. While the most of the book is delightful and contains some of the funniest events in the series (ballroom dance came to my mind), the last part of the book also contains the darkest, most thrilling moment of the series so far. All of the characters in this book are interesting and less stereotypical. Overall, if you are a fan of Harry Potter, this is a must-read. If you're disappointed with the 2nd or 3rd book, then this one might renew your faith in the series. Now I can't wait for the next sequel!
Rating: Summary: Great Child Theme with Adult Language and Insinuations Review: I am an adult and have read all 4 books. I personally loved the 4th book, but I think the few curse words and filthy jokes could have been left out since this book is intended for ages 9-12. The author totally changed writing method for this book and I am disgusted. I am also a Christian and do not disapprove of the story content, just leave out the filth. Children are reading these for Heaven's sake!
Rating: Summary: The weak link Review: Overall this is an interesting story, but sadly is a disappointing turn for the series. The editor should have taken out a red pen for this one. Entire passages not only could have been, but should have been slashed. Much of the plot is predictable, something that surprised me after the twists and turns of the first 3 books. The only redeeming qualities are a strong climax and the fact that the kids are showing signs of maturing and rather accurately as well.
