Rating: Summary: Repetitive Plot Review: I think this book was over-hyped and much-awaited by "fans". The plot is much the same as the other Harry Potter books: the hero goes to school, meets up with his friends, gets into trouble, finds out Voldemort is trying to take over the world, defeats him, then goes home again, thus setting the scene for another sequel of the same type. The writing quality is not as good as others of the genre but it is obviously what the masses want. It is very lengthy and in places drawn out. Overall, I prefer its predecessors such as the Lord of the Rings, by Tolkien. It is not a bad book but simply light relief.
Rating: Summary: Review for Harry Potter and the Goblet of fire Review: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was a great book. It is one of my favorite books out of this series. It will make you think that many people are responsible for puting Harry's name in the Goblet of fire. But when you truly figer out who did it, it will really surprise you. Also the ending will really shock you on how Voldermort comes back and who he kills. This whole book should amaze you just like it amazed me. I hope that you will have fun reading this great thriller of a Harry Potter book.
Rating: Summary: One of the best books i've read Review: Over the summer I was forced to read this series. I thaught that it would be pretty dumb, since I'm in highschool. I loved it. In the first 3 books Harry survived by luck, but now he's growing into a young man. The book is full of suspense, action, and once i started reading it i couldn't put it down. This series just gets better every book.I cant wait for book 5
Rating: Summary: better than most 734 page adult books Review: More violent and probably a bit scarier than the first three in the series this was still a good book to read. I do think it was better than most long adult level books, some of those could be cut in half without losing much of value. So many people these days whether child or adult can't be bothered to read anything with such length, it sure is good to find something so many will read.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Review: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is a very interesting book that you will never give up reading. It had caught my attention in the first few pages that I read, in the beginning; eventhough the whole book has seven hundred and thirty four pages total. This book really set up a part of delight and horrific images in every page. Sometimes the book got very dreadful since the chapters were so long, but still it has lots of twists and turns in it that makes you want to read on no matter what. But no matter what anybody thinks, I think it deserves a 4. This book rocks!
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Review: This is a story about a young boy named Harry Potter who attends, and is in his fourth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Widardry. His life long enemy Voldemort is planning to kill Harry for revenge. Voldemort has been plotting this revenge for 13 years. This fourth sequel in this spectacular series is a must read. I especially like Harry's favorite sport, Quiditch which he has had natural talent in since his very first time on a broomstick. The one drawback to this book is it's great length. It can become tiresome in waiting for the plot to unfold. I recommend this book to people ages 10 and older. A Middle School student would enjoy it greatly. Also, teachers will find this book has good reading qualities and lots of plot potential. I would recommend this book to others and think highly of this entire series.
Rating: Summary: Pottertastic!!!!!! Review: When i first looked at this book i thought it would be long and boring but i was soon mistaken! At the beginning it seemed to be very long and at least 200 pages could have been knocked out.But for people who have read potter before it won t be a problam. I think that the quiddich world cup could have been portrated better but as i read i got absorbed into the world of Hogwarts from page 146 to 636 at the end it kept me asking; Is voldemort back? A fantastic book with some need of improvment a bit too long but some great bits. All and all five stars.PPOOTTTTEERRAASSTTIICC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Jim Dale is A One Man Show!!! Review: I was introduced to the Harry Potter series when a relative suggested I listen to the TAPES before reading the books. In retrospect I think this is was VERY sound advice! I would highly recommend others to do the same. A first time visitor to the series may become frustrated very quickly with the pronunciation of the various names and places, whereas listening to the tapes eliminates that chore completely and allows you to sit back and enjoy Jim Dale's incredible talent. Don't think of this as a book-on-tapes series. Think of it as a one man show! Jim Dale performs over 125 voices with amazing skill, and recalls each and every one with ease throughout the entire series...The "Hagrid" you meet on the _Sorcerer's Stone_ tapes is the same "Hagrid" you revisit on the _Goblet Of Fire_ tapes. Definitely worth the price...Just be sure to preview it before letting the kids listen to them. Jim Dale has a very pleasant and entertaining voice but this particular book is rather dark and scary. Why only Four stars? Because of profanities in the beginning (One character says : "...No one at the bank gives a d--- how I dress as long as I bring home plenty of treasure"...it is written on page 62 of the book). Why make a big deal out of it when it only appears once in the entire 800+ pages? Because in MY book once is too much. Listen, I know people speak like this on a normal basis in the real world, but this is supposed to be a kid's book. J.K. Rowling has many adult fans also, but we are not the target market. Just my opinion. Cris
Rating: Summary: Gotta LOVE this book. Review: This book has a little of everything, it includes mystery,SUSPENSE,magic, and death(!).I recamomended this book to all of the people that I know. I would recomend reading the other three books before reading GOBLET of FIRE J.K. Rowling is an EXTREMELY EXCELLENT author!!! HARRY POTTER RULES!!!
Rating: Summary: Keep up the great work Ms. Rowling! Review: I think JK Rowling has done a wonderful job with these books. She weaves a wondrous and riveting tale of a young boy and his adventures in a wizarding school and coping with being an orphan and an abusive home life. I feel sorry for the religious zealots who preach how we are all heading to the fiery depths of hell for reading such stories, this is a vast improvement from what is typically shown on television and what is in our schools and neighborhoods. Of course it is fantasy! As a parent, I highly recommend this series for those who want to encourage reading and imagination in their children.
