Rating: Summary: By far the best of the firts four Review: In book one you get to know Harry, his friends and enemies; in book two you just find out a little more about Hagrid and Voldemort (although the story is extremely good); in book three you find out how Voldemort found his parents to kill them, you get to know James Potter's friends and a little more about their relationship with Severus Snape (as well as a lot more I can't tell you in here).Enough of introductions, this is where the real action begins, besides finding out what the situation was when Voldemort was at his full power you'll see a stronger, more determined, and even more powerful Harry Potter, on this book he will be forced to fight for his life, not only in an ancient traditional wizard contest, but he'll face his enemies and will have to defend himself .... or die. With a great and unexpected ending like the ones J. K. Rowling has already gotten us used to, this is by far the scariest, more thriling book of the series so far; believe me, you'll be begging for time to pass quickly so you can get your hands on the fifth book ASAP.

Rating: Summary: too dark, too long, too dull Review: As a mother of three and a devout Christian I have enjoyed the Harry Potter series up until now. The first three books, although not equal, were all fun and imaginative with just enough suspense and adventure to be exciting. This book was simply too dark and disturbing for children, and it bothers me that Harry Potter marketing is increasingly being aimed at children as the books themselves are becoming less child-like. This book was ridiculously long and sorely needed an editor. I was very unsettled by the increase in not just bad language, but also unkind talk and thoughts between characters who are supposed to be the "good guys". For instance calling one another names, wanting to hit someone because of disagreement, belittling one another, the list goes on and on. The whole thing just left a bad taste. Worst of all was the unbelievably cruel and abrupt death of Cedric, surely the most noble of all the characters in this book, including Harry! Ms. Rowling seems to want to introduce more adult concepts in her books, and I understand that desire, but if that is the plan the marketing should not be aimed at children. Of course children are more forgiving readers than adults are and the obvious plot holes don't bother them as much. The most obvious one being, why didn't Mad Eye Moody give Harry a portkey ANYTIME during the school year. Altogether a disappointing book and yet still a book about characters that my children have come to know and like. It worked for me to read it aloud to my younger children. Unfortunately I allowed my eleven year old to read this book before I did. I've realized that I will no longer be able to let my children read anymore Harry Potter books until I've read them first. Too bad that parents now need to screen Ms. Rowling's books rather than just enjoy them.
Rating: Summary: A New Classic Review: I'm a 38-year-old woman and the more I read of this series, the more convinced I become that J.K. Rowling is the J.R.R. Tolkien of our generation. What started out as a whimsical children's series a la Roald Dahl is now veering into darker, but equally captivating waters as an epic battle between good and evil begins to take shape. I loved this book! It made me laugh and it made me cry. (And I desperately want my own house-elf! Which of course I plan to clothe and compensate!) As a Christian, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these books to anyone I know. I believe the good Lord gave us our imaginations to craft just such well-written fantasies and Ms. Rowling has been exceptionally blessed. The theme of good vs. evil is vital to Chrstian theology, just as it is to these wonderfully written and delightful novels.
Rating: Summary: Katie's Fabulous Review Review: This book is one of the best books I have ever read. It is fantastic. I recommend it to anyone, and i think that no one could fail to like it. So, I hope you have it already, and have read it as many times as I have, but if you haven't...buy it now! See if you can read it in less than 3 and a half hours - thats what i did the first time I read it!
Rating: Summary: The guy who reads it aloud Review: I want to listen to the English audiobooks for this one. Jim Dale can do a lot of the voices but not all of them are what I expect. Slightly ruins the HP image. I love the Harry Potter books and bought it anyways. I find it great for long trips. This way, you don't get motion sickness! If you like fantasy, read my list to discover more fantasy books.
Rating: Summary: You won't regret reading it. Review: Harry Potter is absuloutly the best book I have ever read. I never used to read until I found myself sitting in my room reading the first chapter about the lost little 11 year old boy wanting nothing to be saved from his cupboard. Now that boy has began his 4th year at Hogwarts, now wanting nothing but to escape from a fire breathing dragon. Harry Potter is the best book I've ever read, the excitment, the fun, adventure, laughs and even the sad parts. I enjoyed every second reading that book. Those who do not enjoy the book however, have the right to their own opinon. I read the book in a day and a half because I didn't want to stop. I suspect that the 5th book will also be as excellent as the Goblet of Fire. J.K Rowling is an excellent writer and wish her the best of luck in future books.
Rating: Summary: You won't put this book down Review: I think Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is great! It has a lot of detail on what's happening and isn't very long even though it has 734 pages. It lets your mind expand into wizardry and it gives a lot of suspense. I couldn't put the book down. It took me 2 and a half hours to finish because it was so good. I have all four Harry Potter books and I think this one's the best. If you haven't read the first one Harry Potter and the Sorrcerers Stone you won't know what's going on in this fourth book and the other books in the series. My favorite part is when they began the Triwizard Tournament. They use the goblet of fire to decide (I think that's how the book got its name) who the three 7th year wizards are to enter the tournament . This book is for all people that can read. You won't put this book down and readers, don't miss this one. Have a nice day and I hoped I helped you decide to buy this book.
Rating: Summary: COMPLETELY ENTERTAINING! Review: This book, and all the others in the series are phenomenal reads. I couldn't put them down, any of them, and read about one a day. I'd finish one, then head back to the store for the next. I'm dying to read the fifth one and can't wait for the movie. Rowling should be very proud of herself for the things she has achieved with these books. Not only do they entertain children, they entertain adults like me as well. The plots are revealed in a timely manner that also allows for the maximum suspense. The characters are very well-developed, even the minor ones, and Rowling's descriptions are very detailed -- I can almost see Ron asleep during Professor Binns' lectures! These books are great and my friends and I all love them very much!
Rating: Summary: The only problem is....................... Review: That the next book won't be out for a long time! Eagerly awaiting the next installment in the adventures of Harry Potter and his friends. Our children find this book totally absorbing to read and a real vocabulary-builder.
