Rating: Summary: A great investment! Review: This is the most beatifully executed overview of fantastic art I have ever seen. The reproduction is as clear as it gets, and the supporting text is extremely informative. There was definitely a lot of effort put into the making of this book. ...and hey, the price is right!
Rating: Summary: Infinite Worlds is a 'must have' for SF art connoisseurs! Review: You don't have to read Science Fiction or collect SF Art to appreciate this book. If you do, then, _Infinite Worlds is a 'must have'. Beautifully crafted, after opening this book for just a few minutes I fell in love with it. The sparkling paintings jump right off the pages to draw you in. In the first third of the book the reader becomes familiar with the history and evolution of the Pulp/SF art genre. The meat of the book, though, is the alphabetical listing of all important SF artists beginning with the Jules Verne era to modern masters of the genre. Every artist has representative examples of their work and a brief biography. I was startled by the breathtaking reproduction of Richard Powers' cover to J.G.Ballards _Voices Of Time_. I have this paperback but had never appreciated the depth of the cover painting. Another treasure are the six rare plates of J.Allen St.John. He was one of the first artist to illustrate Burroughs' Tarzan and Martian adventure stories. His _Master Mind Of Mars_ illustration on page 280 is incredible. If you love SF art, like I do, or just love to view exquisitely reproduced art of any kind, do not pass this book up!
