Rating: Summary: A Beautiful Book Review: I'm a long time fan of Terri Windling's books and Brian Froud's art. This is the perfect combination of the two. Ms. Windling is quite knowledgeable in the areas of folklore and fairy tales, so I was eager to read what she had to say. And Brian Froud's artwork is simply incredible. I can stare at these pictures for hours and still find new details in the background. This book is simply lovely, a beautiful addition to any library.
Rating: Summary: Wow! Review: If anything, it is Brian Froud's artwork to be amazed about. He pays special attention to the fine art of the drawing of fairies and it literally took my breath away. What a great addition it would make to one's library. I loved his previous works too. The descriptions are apt and delicious to read about. snuggle in and enjoy a great read and stunning pictures.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely the most beautiful book ever... Review: If you enjoy beauty, style, elegance, and knowledge.. BUY THIS. Hell, even if you don't, buy it anyway. It's got something to read, and something to look at in wonder. And if you want a little of both, there are small captions for the pictures to read. It's simply put, a great buy. Worth the money you pay for it, and more. I LOVE IT!!! and cherish it...
Rating: Summary: CLAP YOUR HANDS IF YOU BELIEVE IN FAERIES... Review: My favorite painter and my favorite writer/editor together in one book!!! I guess there is a god after all......
Rating: Summary: Enchanting! Review: Never in my life have I seen or owned a book that moved and enchanted me so much by just flipping through the pages to glance at the pictures! They practically come to life right before your eyes and the beauty that they all posess is just breath-taking! I have loved and believed in faeries ever since I was born and the magick that Brian Froud can weave with his paintbrush is so very inspiring and fantastic that I couldn't even begin to describe it. From Honesty to Boon to the Green Lady and the Faeries of Wisdom, the Faery Godmother and the Faery of Pure Joy and Morgan Le Fay I was entranced. I couldn't imagine anything more beautiful to look at unless it was the real thing, and I just wanted to thank Brian Froud for sharing his gift and Terri Windling for putting words to the pictures.
Rating: Summary: Alive! Review: The book is full of life. A different world, that I can open whenever I wish. They are all alive.
Rating: Summary: GORGEOUS! Review: The first thing that strikes you about this book is the pure beauty! The unique cover and way the book is bound, The Good Faeries is on one side, turn it over and The Bad Faries are there. Reading the book from just one cover, you'll have to turn it upside down when you reach the other section. This book is, from start to finish seemingly written, designed, and imagined by the fae themselves. Brian Froud is definitely communicating with these magical beings. The names and art work bring their personalities to life so vividly. You'll find there is a fairy who causes any sort of mischief from that one sock that always disappears from the dryer, to your toast hitting the floor butter side up. Touching, lovely, hilarious, and at times a little scary, this is one of the best books I have ever seen on the fae. Brian Froud is truly gifted not only with artistic genius, but with the ability to see beyond our world and take us there with him.
Rating: Summary: The first faerie book I had Review: The reason I bought this book was I have to study fairytales and folklores in order to actract children's intrest. However, I never thought this book would brought me back to a world which has been forgotten for many years.
Rating: Summary: For believers and non-believers alike! Review: This beautifully illustrated book teaches about mystical fairies from all over the world. Froud takes such legends as Morgana le Faye and the Sheela Na Gig and shows you their fairy equivlents. If you believe in fairies this is certainly a must. Though, I'm sure the non-believers will change their minds quickly after reading the fairy reasons to so many unknowns, such as why pens always disappear and why you find crumbs in your bed. With this book I was introduced to Froud's work and within the week of receiving it I purchased his "Fairies". They are truly exceptional!
Rating: Summary: GORGEOUS! Review: This book has beautiful artwork, from intriguing and wonderfully dark at times, to bright and pretty. I find it to not only be nice to look at, but an excellent visual for working with Fae in meditation or magick. The books I have used to far that explain how to work with the Fae don't provide the visual support, so its the perfect companion with, for example, Edain Mc Coy's guide to working with Faery Folk. And once again, its BEAUTIFUL. I can't wait to get the Oracle cards as well.
